"We love Rick Villarreal" banner coming soon
MGNation92 replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
Says the guy who has threatened to fight people via internet forum before. Nah, no tough guy attitude there -
I seriously don't understand the obsession everyone has with Kevin Patrick. Sure he can recruit decently, but our d-line has consistently been blown off the ball all season long. Great resumes don't mean jack if you can't build on them. If your d-line is bad, it makes your linebackers look bad, and in turn makes the secondary look bad. Not to say he is the sole reason the defense was bad, because Cosh is an idiot, but his d-line definitely did not help the problem.

We're Carlos the baby, and RV is Stu in this situation -
FTFY, since that tends to be the only number we talk about these days...

UNT down to 4 Finalists- No Names Leaked
MGNation92 replied to jtm0097's topic in Mean Green Football
What if, in a strange and unexpected turn of events, RV steps on the podium Monday, and states: "After careful consideration, I have decided to follow in the footsteps of Hayden Fry and coach the University of North Texas' football team while simultaneously performing my duties as Athletic Director" How much of a kick in the nuts would that be? -

Give me Meachem, Cumbie, or Yurcich. Spav is an underperformer, and Morris is too inexperienced -

Mark Mangino it is then. Call Golden Corral in Denton, they're gonna need the lead time to prepare for that tank rolling into town.- 100 replies

From the article. At this point I don't know which report is more accurate. But you have more insider info than I do so there's that. Just putting what I read out there that might be interesting to everyone following the coaching search, since we often talk about competition with other schools looking for coaches

http://sportstalksc.com/index.php/2015/11/24/usc-coaching-search-whos-hot-whos-not-verson-1-0/ Although not set in stone, it's looking like South Carolina is gunning for Herman. So Houston might be looking for a new coach soon as well

From your previous posts regarding certain candidates, I would assume you have more knowledge of the situation than most. Do you really think Fritz would come here? Is he considered the front runner by the AD at this point?

I'll take "None of the above" for 2000, Alex.

Probably, and now I feel stupid. But hey, I'm a UNT fan so I guess I should be used to that

Also posted this yesterday in reference to Baylor and Kendal Briles. Don't know how much he knows, but it is an interesting tweet

Auburn assistant submits resume for North Texas job
MGNation92 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This. I think if Horton came here he would see A) a running QB with a cannon for play action throws downfield B) Two young, capable backs, and C) tall fast receivers to go up and get the ball. Those are all pieces to run an offense similar to Auburn. Couple those with the fact that our O-line is better in run blocking than pass blocking then you have building blocks to install that kind of offense. I'd rather have Rhett Lashlee, but Horton would be cheaper, and is known as a good recruiter. -
Maybe if we hire Jinks he could convince Davis Webb to come with him. A guy can dream can't he?
-
I think a combo of something like Norvell and Thompsen could work wonders and cover all bases. Norvell is a young OC with good experience running explosive offenses and can recruit. Thompsen is an older coach who's won at lower levels and can also recruit. I would fly to Tempe, Arizona and wouldn't leave until I had one or both coming on the plane back with me

Who Should Be The Next Head Coach @UNT

I'd take Tedford in a heartbeat, especially with our current QB situation -

I'll just leave this here: Point is. The Athletic Department doesn't care. If there wasn't a single season ticket sold for next year, they would carry on as usual. That's the level of ineptitude they have shown under RV's leadership. But hey, they get paid six figures to sit on their asses so they're happy. Who wouldn't want that cushy of a job?
-
According to Kram you're lazy and need to take initiative. It's not like it's the Athletics Department job to reach out to prospective donors. That would be asinine. Get your act together Dr. Seuss.

So I came to UNT in 2012 and graduated in 2015. I never experienced the Dodge years although I've read and heard of the perception of the program, losses, and how generally speaking, support was bad, and the regime was disappointing. So I ask, was there ever a time during the Dodge years, where the Mean Green faithful had collectively been in such disarray and discontent? It seems like it would be much easier to do so when Dodge was here. Just interested to know what it was like back then. Edit: As compared to the state we are in now

With the way his attitude has been this year I'm about ready for him to peace out as well. I think he's just mad because McNuggets isn't in the game to stare him down on every pass play.
