  1. I doubt our 2022 roster or coaching would have been able to win a game in the AAC in 2022. looking at the 2023 AAC slate of games, I dont see a win at all in the conference. hopefully they can turn it around in 2-3 seasons.
  2. Its not just the coach, its the entire staff, and recruiting. UNT has not been a strong recruiter compared to other schools in the AAC, and its going to take a season or two to turn that trend around.
  3. AAC is a much better conference, Morris is already getting a late start at building the staff and adding recruits, 2023 (2-3 wins) will be a throw away season, 2024 (4-5 wins) will be the season to turn things around, and 2025 (5-6 wins) we might make a run at a bowl again.
  4. Tulane won the AAC and they did that because they picked up 10 starters in the transfer portal. I am willing to predict that the teams that have the most success in the portal will be the top teams in the conference. Being that the AAC is the top G5 conference, this is where a lot of P5 players dropping down for more playing time would like to end up. As for UNT 2023 will be a rebuilding year, they waited to long to get a staff in place, but that just means they have plenty of time to build the program properly with the right people in place.
  5. your analogy is a little off... a bowl game is not a championship, your not really playing for anything. It would be like sending your employees to the Bahamas for reasons that have no effect on your companies bottom line, all while knowing that many of them will not be returning to the company next month.
  6. its not a championship game or a play off game, or even a rivalry game, its just a bowl game. And these days bowl games dont seem to mean much, the only winners are the sponsors and advertisers. I do question the value of some of the smaller bowls.
  7. Their coach definitely does not like the match up or the timing of the match up
  8. Had UNT made the conference final and lost, the Kenpom and NET ranking would have had us on the bubble for sure. I still dont think we wound have gotten in, the NCAA seemed dead set on taking 4 MWC schools.
  9. UNT seems to have a game like that every year, last year it was the Buffalo game, they dont seem focused, and nothing seems to drop (especially free throws). MASS is sitting at 87 in NET right now... They have 1 Q1 win, and 3 Q2 wins. So a win should boost UNT quite a bit in the NET.
  10. This week's rankings update. (only top 100) NET: KENPOM: 13 FAU 47 UAB 66 UNT 49 FAU 67 UAB 67 UNT 74 Charlotte 86 Middle Tenn.
  11. You dont want to get stuck coaching at the FCS level, when your stock is high cash in. At that level you are only one bad season away from being out of football all together.
  12. Riley, but the school probably cant afford him. Fuente won the AAC title before, makes sense.
  13. Its certainly not going to be the best case... It's already late in the process, they should have been interviewing coaches a month ago, and had a coach in place before the transfer window opened. I dont know that the "right" guy is out there at the moment, only options left seem to be real compromises.
  14. not sure if he would know anything about recruiting players, though he would probably be better at recruiting a coaching staff.
  15. good win, against a team that is probably tournament bound. free throw shooting was better, they had to earn every point no "lucky" plays, and GCU didnt make many mistakes.
  16. Lots of sports bars offer ESPN+ now, they dont use it like an app, it actually comes up as channels through their provider. The manager at Twin Peaks told me that they had to include ESPN+ because there are now specific UFC fights that are shown on ESPN+
  17. There are a couple sports bar type places next to the stadium on the corner of Main and the DNT
  18. Im sure you could find a sports bar in frisco to watch the game at
  19. I dont know if Chryst would be the ideal fit, however the window is closing, and there are very few viable options left.
  20. Its supposed to be about education first... But if they want to play the business card, then they need to stick to what ever deals they make, or wind up in litigation.
  21. need to hit free throws and stay out of foul trouble
  22. I disagree, I dont think that they have been seriously looking at other coaches until very recently. They should have fired him after the Memphis game, or at least come out and state that he would not be coming back the following season. That would have given them plenty of time find a new coach and build a coaching staff. Dec 5th is that start of the transfer window, if they knew he would be gone earlier in the season then they would have been prepared and had a coach in place on Dec 5th.
