I feel like basketball is the sport where players are most ready to compete early because of the growth of aau. Some of the aau teams out there could probably be a top 25 college team. Of course, those teams are stocked with top 100 national players. now big men, unless they are a top prospect are definitely better served after a couple years in college.

Gotta disagree. The whole bball argument isn’t really relevant. They play roughly 30 games and have a 68 team field. yes, it won’t be as dramatic as, you lose more than one and your season is over, but the games still matter. On top of that, by keeping even more teams in it later in the season will bring even more eyes to the games. and soooo much money.

thats a nice scenario. I don't ever see their being a salary cap, though, the big $$ is always going to want to be able to have the advantage. My dream scenario is for them to set it up like soccer leagues with relegation and promotion. Man, that would be fun in college football.

I agree that it is realistic, but unlikely. I am hopeful, but doubtful. we averaged 4132 per game this year. Which is a new record over the last 20 years, I believe. we have to continue to win, and we have to start going to the tournament and having success. We don’t have to pull an FAU, but we need to make it more than we don’t, and we have to be a top 25 or close team. I was at the smu game, with my old pledge brother, and we both were blown away by the atmosphere. The students were incredible! When they started swaying we were goin nuts. We had over 7000 at that game and the pit was lit! I say all of that to say this, if we continue success and average 5500 in 2 years, do you really think they are going to build an arena that holds 5500-7000 when in their minds, they are already about to outgrow that.

This is definitely a fun new wrinkle with the nil. You can’t say schools not honoring their commitment because, technically, it’s not the schools that make the nil deals, yet. it would probably actually be better regulated if all nil deals had to be done through the schools.

Everything you are saying is right, but unless this conference gets a monumental media rights deal there is just no way. The mw tv deal is less than the aac and there is no way that Oregon state and Washington state are moving the needle enough to drastically increase that. If they were, they wouldn’t be where they are now. I apologize because I do not know you, but you also must not have been around during the big west days. Because sharing a conference with west coast schools SUCKS for trying to build your brand in this time zone. The games are so late that most people in our time zone never see them. now I would be on board with a merger where you take the pac-2 and the top 6 programs from the MW or top 8, and do the same with the aac. That might be interesting.
