  1. Ditto for Aune. I hope he succeeds to the highest level. He just going to have to learn when to throw away or take the loss. Which leads us to Steve Ramsey. He had so much confidence in his passing ability that he would throw into double coverage. And, he got away with it numerous times. He could really thread the needle. I'm not saying that his passing wasn't good, that he had bad receivers but he was another quarterback who thought that he was invincible (he dang near was). Maybe Aune has some of that temperament and I hope that it can be coached out of him. You go, Austin!
  2. Well, it's possible that they might move their football program to the AAC but never their basketball program. I would not be for that. The only addition that I would be for is Army, with the same situation as Navy (having another program for all other sports.) However, we would need a 16th team and that would likely have to come from another conference. I don't know who that would be, but not Liberty. I would prefer Air Force or Colorado State at the moment but that could change. Then, to me, that would give the AAC a tremendous amount of visibility. Then I move that the nominations cease. I don't think that any conference should have more than 16 teams. All three service academies have national audiences, so we would have a tremendous viewing potential. I'm not doing this with the thoughts that we could be another power conference. My hope is that they will do away with the Ps and Gs.
  3. Aune is a good passer...as long as there isn't a defender. I'm guessing that he had no interceptions (because there weren't any defenders). It almost seemed that he thought that as long as someone caught it, it was a completion. That doesn't mean that he can't be taught.
  4. I agree. If a player has a shot he'll take it rather than wait to the last second as Grant's teams did. The defense may press but I believe that we'll score more. I doubt that we'll be the least scored on team again.
  5. The only thing that could have been done was to have a strong commissioner who could guide the conferences away from this disaster of the two largest conferences rule. That didn't happen and won't with the new commissioner either. Just because the new commissioner is a former governor of Massachusetts doesn't mean that he can control the Big Two (if he wants to keep the job). We do have some teams that don't belong in Division One and likely never will. There should have been a standard set and adhered to. The original was a stadium of 30,000 and attendance of 17,000. It's why we had to drop back to 1-AA for 12 years. Now there will be several that don't have a stadium of 20,000 (our old capacity) and an attendance of 12,000. If there were eight conferences with 12 to 16 teams anyone could be eligible for a playoff.
  6. They are all good and I try to watch each. I guess my favorite is Harry because I've been listening to him for so long.
  7. It's looking as if our offensive line is going to be very strong for years. We have and are getting exceptional big guys up front. I believe that it is our strongest unit.
  8. He would be great but we already have two scorers and we'd have to change our style of offense or one would have to do more sitting.
  9. I'm not either. It's impossible to tell how much larger he will be as a senior. Even his speed is affected. The staff is doing better with '24 recruits than I can remember. It's almost a year and a half before the 24 season starts and we have five commitments already. It seems to me that the 25 offers are mostly to players that we have little chance to get.
  10. I mostly agree with Emmitt. If they have one throwback game uniform per year then the apple green is okay.
  11. My guess is 4 to 7. East Carolina will finish above us and there is nothing we can do about that because we don't play them. SMU will beat us at their place. Tulane will be in the Top Three in some order. Then, possibly us. Yes, we lost a lot of talent through the portal but we also gained some very good players. We will be stronger on defense and potentially better on offense. We'll play a lot faster on both sides of the ball and not have to rely on a few defensive players...we'll have a lot who can play.
  12. I can understand to some extent why Shorter might leave. When he can stay injury free he is a talent. We do have an influx of good receivers but he would have played, possibly started. What I do not understand is Nixon leaving. He came here as a two-star athlete and I think worked himself to a three-star. However, few will look deeper than the fact that he left high school a two-star. He might get an offer from a lower rated FBS team who cannot afford NIL. I believe that he would've been better off to have stayed. Maybe he'll return if he gets no offers.
  13. Wilson did get a PWO offer and accepted it at first but later turned it down after talking with his parents. Evidently we didn't offer enough NIL money to pay for his first year.
  14. I think that Holgorson will benefit greatly from Rice moving to the American Athletic Conference. It seems to be that he hasn't quite been able to get the talent that he needs to be competitive in CUSA. Rice has the prestige and the money to be competitive in what is considered a higher conference. If Holgorson is not the man then I believe they'll pour enough money into the program to be competitive. They are a too old and storied program to fund a cellar-dweller.
  15. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HARRY!!! I've been with you since the old board and I marvel how much you have improved the board. This is the best of all the other boards that I've seen. Thank you for your time, money and energy to make this the best. I hope that you have a long wonderful life (at least as long as mine). Best of the best for the best.
  16. I agree that Bobby Iverson was a tremendous talent but Bobby didn't want to join Jehovah's Witness; it was his mother who insisted. In my opinion he was our greatest talent and would've topped our statistics had he been able to finish a career here.
  17. Help JD! I'm getting a mixed message here. On one hand the new recruit seems to be Makhi Rice, the Tyler JC WR from Waco LaVega. On the other hand I'm also led to believe that it's James Burns, the transfer WR from Austin Peay. Both are 5'8", 155 wide receivers. Which one is the commit referred to by Coach Morris?
  18. Yes, special thanks to those two and I wouldn't be surprised if Hank Dickenson, former UNT Senior Assistant Athletic Director, wasn't in some way owed thanks as well. He is a good connection between UNT and the City of Denton through his position as Membership Chairman of the Denton Chamber of Commerce. I saw him in numerous pictures of the event.
