Just spit ballin... What about an AP type poll of G5 schools and crowning a poll champion ala the old days? Not the best idea I admit, but i used to like the fact that different polls would name a number one and divide a "national championship." I know one argument was that the poll system wasn't fair which led to the creation of BCS system, but nothing has been really fair since then either. Since G5's will likely not be in the current playoff system, a dedicated G5 poll could be entertaining and interesting just for the speculation factor.

I wouldn't characterize UTEP as the worst or one of the worst NCAA football programs, however, it has to be one of the worst college football markets. Los Mexicanos like their futbol and tacos; the fine people of El Chuco (aka El Paso) seem supportive, but only if they have a connection to the school... at least that's my feeling when I have matches against my archnemesis, El Mistico Azul, at El Paso County Coliseum...

I agreed with your above reply until what appears to be a statement equating Texan pride and "southern pride." Maybe it wasn't meant as such, but Texans and southerners are not the same. Further, to associate the Lone Star Flag with southerners appears to downplay the contribution that many Tejanos (or Texicans) and other non-southerners have made to the unique culture of this Great State. Texas did not need the south, but the south needed Texas. And if Sam Houston had his way, the Lone Star State would not have seceded. Personally, I think the rebel flag represents a group of folks who tried to break up this Great Nation, therefore, that flag should hold no place of honor among true Patriots. !Viva Tejas!
