  1. Great article. There can be some similarities drawn with Dana, minus the drinking and the partying.
  2. What do you want to bet that we can haul in better classes with a name like Fuente, and get them to play up to their potential?
  3. The simple "White - Green - Green" uniform looked fantastic on Saturday at Apogee.
  4. Reading this article shed some light on those dynamics at Va Tech and how the landscape in the ACC and that geography evolved over his career in Blacksburg. His assistant coaches & recruiting budgets were near AAC level (not ACC), and those peer schools in the geographic area (UNC, NC State, Virginia) really stepped up their game from an investment standpoint; whereas Virginia Tech did not. I'm not suggesting this was the root cause of the downturn, but it had to be a factor. Additionally, the VT class is currently ranked 4th in ACC and 22nd in the country at the time of JF firing. Net of it all, recruiting in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana should offer prime real estate to bring studs to Denton!
  5. This at QB x 2, WR x 2, OL, DL x 2, LB, CB, S x 2 Yes, and Brown is going to be special with continued development and experience.
  6. Those with keeping Phil & Gush on defense for continuity sake would be absolutely amazing!
  7. We need to get at least one of these (or very similar) in the portal.
  8. This is a fun read. Nice job by our own Dave Barnett’s son Zach.
  9. 100% accurate in Fuente’s case at Va Tech and Dykes’ case at California. Chased the bigger brand and better money, and while Fuente has been better overall than Sonny was at Cal, it’s a poor fit for sure. Fuente would be an incredible hire at UNT!
  10. Interesting to note the quantity of kids in Stout's specific recruiting class leaving for greener pastures. This is certainly the nature of the beast (with the 1 time transfer rule + transfer portal) in today's game. Fair question: Was the character of these kids deeply evaluated, or did we just try to sign the best CUSA class on paper? No one will truly be able to uncover this, but it's worth exploring and debating.
  11. Agreed the uniforms that we wore for 2017 - 2019 were GREAT looking! all of the combinations were classy and caught people's attention (even getting onto ESPN's uniform special multiple times). Nowadays the pseudo-throwbacks look like some of the cheapest in college football. Disappointing.
  12. Yes, there have been two cases of that during his tenure at UNT, along with a host of others reaching out as their AD position came open. Wren has earned that respect in the industry. Ideally, with a star employee like Wren Baker, you want to make it really hard for him / them to leave (in this case, probably compensate him near parity with his top 3-4 desired jobs in the country), where he would only go to one of his "dream" destinations.
  13. Holtz has been a consistent winner, although they are bad this year. Talk to the La Tech fans, and because their level of expectations is 7-8 wins and a bowl victory, they are ready to send Skip packing due to his conservative nature in big games.
  14. The purpose of this level of compensation is a strong commitment primarily about continuity & retention; and ultimately continuing to deliver step by step on the Master Plan laid out in 2018. There has been a TON of progress made, anyone who argues this is negligent; yet there is still a long ways to go. University leadership and the high percentage of our fanbase (and our peers) have the utmost confidence in Wren Baker and his team to continue leading this initiative. Wren has been approached about several AD jobs (multiple SEC opportunities already), and we need to do what we can to keep him. Thankful for our administrations commitment to enhancing athletics at UNT. Not to mention, for prospective football coaching candidates and their agents, wouldn't they want an opportunity to work for the person hiring them for the majority of their tenure at UNT?
  15. Seth Littrell is a great person with a great family, and you won't meet anyone who doesn't like and respect him personally. We all know that this is a win-now business, and professionally, we also know that things have slid in reverse these last few years. Choosing to move from Flower Mound to Westlake doesn't impact any of the matters above. It does stink to see the trajectory of the program versus where it was a few years ago. That said, the university and department leadership have invested heavily, and helped us into a new conference, making this one of the best G5 football jobs in America. Excited to see the direction that we go under Wren Baker after this season is complete.
  16. 1. Not true 2. Not true 3. Not true He is involved in all of the practices, meetings, and time in the office with staff & players.
