  1. Go to the Hog message board that Harry has posted a link to and you will be amazed...and amused!
  2. I noticed...and I appreciate it VERY much. The little things add up to and lead to big things.
  3. I independently had the same thought as filmerj. If I'm TD, the first thing I'm doing today is looking at film to see how FAU adjusted and took away our offense after two quarters of football. If it is our personnel or conditioning, that is one thing; if it was their defensive scheme, that is quite another.
  4. I'm another one of those with physical problems. Both hips have been replaced and it hurts to stand on hard surfaces for long periods. Nonetheless, I'm up and down...I just can't stand for the whole game. I watched most of the OU game on their big screen because the people around me stood most of the game and I couldn't. I am hoarse today from cheering last night; when my voice went (about the middle of the third quarter) I had to fall back on clapping. This is just to point out to you younger people that things are not always what they appear to be. There are people like me who are not apathetic and would raise more hell if we could...and then there are a few who are indeed worthy of our scorn. Please investigate a little before determining into which category the old fart belongs.
  5. I didn't really mean to say that our core supporters are going to boycott any games. Sorry if my choice of words left that impression. After thinking some more on the game (my grieving time is not up yet) it dawned on me that there aren't too many guys left on the roster that know winning at UNT. Once this team tastes victory, they will be harder to beat. We could arguably be 3 -4 going into the Navy game. It could happen. Now pass the lime jello shots!
  6. I have slept on it and started viewing other posters' thoughts since I got home last night. For me, it is better to wait awhile and process my thoughts before speaking up. What follows are my observations, made in the context of several years of highs and lows: 1. I have seen all three games so far in the Dodgeball era; the improvement week-to-week has been DRAMATIC. Yeah, there are still some problems with this team but they have come a long way, are to be congratulated, and should hold their heads up. There are nine more opportunities to play this season, maybe ten, and they will never play another down in the past. Learn from your mistakes and get ready for tomorrow! 2. This loss really hurt me personally, leaving me with a feeling unlike the first two. Maybe it is because it was a conference game or maybe because it was winnable that it hurt more. We managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. 3. The momentum shift was palpable and when we had opportunities to stop the downward slide we could not. Time after time there were situations where one big play would turn things around and lift the team but they seemed to not have it in them. Give credit to FAU, who has good athletes and challenged us to beat them. 4. DM made mistakes but so did others. His mistakes stand out because he is on the stat sheet; others can make mistakes in annonymity and only be called to account when the coaches review the tapes. Give him your support and know that Coach Dodge's judgment is that he is the best chance we have for victory at this time. 5. I have been through numerous kicks to the nuts from bad losses over the last several years; I have never backed off my support of the team and will not. To those who witnessed yesterday's loss and threaten to not attend the next game...don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out! I'm tightening my chinstrap and getting ready for my next opportunity to win. Let the opponents enjoy this now because it will be our time soon. And it will be a long run! GO MEAN GREEN !!!
  7. This is going to be a freakin' shootout! UNT - 56 FAU- 49 Attendance: 24,700, but there will be at least 60,000 afterwards who will swear they were there. This will go back and forth all day, with each team up by 14 at some point in the game. FAU is driving for the winning score with time running out; Holman picks off a pass in the flat and takes it to the house for the win with 10 seconds left on the clock. This game will be legendary...mark it down!
  8. Talked to an LSU-grad co-worker this morning; he saw the game and was impressed with Riley and the others, like Cantu. Too damned bad we can't get him away from Oregon. In watching that game I couldn't help but think that I might be watching the precursor to our game tomorrow night with FAU. Don't know if I could take a game like that without some additional Shiner; think I'll throw a few extra cans in the cooler.
  9. I have nothing to offer you on this great occasion except an ice cold Shiner in a can. Many more, Cerebus!
  10. Nice shirt! Being old and hardcore, my preference would have been something along the lines of "PLUCK The Owls". Nice to see the students getting into it for a change. New regime, new leadership, new attitude!
  11. We win, 49 - 45. To prepare for this see-saw, ain't -over-til-its-over game, I plan to drink heavily!! This will be a gut-wrenching, SMUt-type game, with no lead being safe. We will find a way to make two or three defensive stops in the last quarter and pull this one out at home.
  12. That is just the plot of his vortex as he slowly spins downward, taking his future down the drain. Sounds like a headcase. Forget about him and move on to more stable players that will help the TEAM and not be a distraction.
  13. KICK NAVY's ASSES ALL OVER THE FIELD FROM THE BEGINNING BOOMER-SHOT TO THE END. But let there be not one word of disrespect uttered to any Navy player or fan. I plan to go out of my way to make one or more of them feel welcome and I know there are many here that will do the same. I was Army, on my father's advice (he was also Army); his philosophy was "they can blow up my truck but I can walk; if they sink my ship, I'm SOL".
  14. I suggest the following to anyone interested. It is what I will be doing myself. I will park at a DART station up the line (no traffic problem) and take the train to Mockingbird Station. I will then proceed to have a few beers at Trinity Hall and prepare myself for the arduous crossing of Central Expressway, which is the only barrier between the train and the stadium worse than ordinary sidewalk. I estimate the distance from the train to the visitors' side of the stadium to be five blocks max and there are numerous watering holes on the journey if one should feel the need. After the game, I will retrace my steps and catch the next northbound train out of there, thus avoiding the traffic jam.
  15. I will be in 125, Row 12, Seats 8 & 9. I'll be a no-show at McFarlin (too far from the stadium for an old guy). I'm going to ride the train to Mockingbird Station, lay up at Trinity Hall or another spot in that vicinity, then walk the no-more-than five blocks to the visitors' side of Ford. Too easy and convenient for me to pass that up.
  16. Get ready to hear them piss and moan when they have 20 wins and get passed over for the post season tournaments! The RPIs for that bunch will be pathetic.
  17. I'm sure it must have been a concession to the heat. A cautionary thing. They did look $hitty. And we're back to the flag thing of a couple of years ago. I know it was supposed to be a Saturday-morning, whimsical number but those multi-colored flags need to be torched.
  18. FWSooner, you are as gracious as the MANY Sooner fans we encountered BEFORE, DURING and AFTER the game. Without eception, they engaged in conversation, gave us good advice and directions, and INVARIABLY thanked us for being there. A tip of our caps to all Sooner fans and we wish you good luck the rest of the way. That whipping won't sting so much if you bring home another national championship. OU's talent, depth and execution is TRULY impressive.
  19. It looked to me that Vizza's second pick was caused by an OU defender. I think he got whacked on the arm, not allowing full forward motion, and causing the pass to go short straight at the DB instead of over his head where our receiver was open to take it to the house. Did TV pick that up?
  20. Greenjoe, the shuttle bus from the Noble Center is the way to go. It is a regular campus bus system. The stadium is quite a hoof from the Noble Center. From three years ago, I think the RT cost is $3. I elected to walk back AFTER the game because the lines were long and the busses were few. In retrospect, I would have waited for the bus because it is a long way in the dark when you can't see where you are going. There may have been a bit of Shiner fog too. I will be at the BBQ, it was pretty good (but not Metzler's) the last time. I recommend it, with a couple of ice cold Shiners.
  21. I answered my own question! I did my homework by going to the athletics website and looking at his bio. Mosley is a true freshman but is a bigger back than Cox. His pedigree and the level of his high school competition are both quite impressive.
  22. A Quoneresque observation: we're going to play without Cox? Cox is a helluva ballcarrier! Moseley must be special to be backing up Thomas; I look forward to seeing him in action. I remember reading his name from posts in the past but I don't have a mental picture of him as a runner. Did he play in the Spring game?
  23. King - Looks like that would be about right, in Sec D. I base that on mine, E,18, 9 - 10 being just to the right (in your picture) and just a couple of rows below the railing.
  24. The decision makes sense to me, for reasons I posted a few days ago. And for all we know, DM may have reverted to the form he had in HS that made him so highly regarded. He may have been able to do that in a system that gave him what he needed to progress. I trust TD's judgment.
  25. Sec 35, Row 26, Seats 11-12. I'll be on the bus with an ample escort of Shiner-in-a-can!
