  1. Of course I saw him get burned a few times - their was a huge size/talent mismatch. Also, I didn't watch him all night long. I was more focused on the OU offense. I did notice a few times that he got himself into position to make a few plays. Also, he has speed, which is why I guess your coach put him on special teams. Maybe he will learn from his mistakes and develop into a better player for North Texas this year.
  2. Glad to hear that everyone, for the most part, experienced good sportsmanship. Of course, every team has those drunk fans that have to run their mouth that ruins the schools image.
  3. Good morning, Mean Green. I wanted to return to your board and share a few of my thoughts about yesterday's game: First, I want to let this board know how impressed I was with your fans. Not only were they friendly, as expected, the majority stayed until the end to support their team. Very impressive. On offense, I thought that your offensive line gave Meager lots of time to throw the ball on several downs. When the pocket collapsed, Meager did a great job of scrambling and either tucking the ball or throwing on the run to attempt to make a gain. I thought Vizza provided a spark and some leadership to make some things happen against OU. When he ran with the ball, he took the hits and didn't slide. That showed me that he is tough and competitive, and I am sure it showed his teammates the same thing. Considering what both QB's faced with the speed of the OU defense, I think that North Texas has a lot of upside with either QB - which is not a bad problem to have. On defense, I was impressed with your interior d-line play. OU couldn't seem to get any running lanes open on the inside for their running backs. When DeMarco Murray could get to the outside, not many teams would be able to stop him - he has the fastest 40-time on OU's team, so you have to take that into consideration. Speaking of speed, I thought that a lot of your defensive backs had some good overall speed. Your cornerback, #37 (Roman?), played well against OU's receivers. When I saw him on the field, I thought "Bradford needs to throw to whomever #37 is covering" based on the height mismatch. However, he had some good speed for his size and seemed to position himself well to make plays. On special teams, I thought that North Texas did a great job. Your punter had a few booming punts that silenced the OU crowd. Coverage was fast and effective as well. To add some perspective here, I don't think that anybody predicted that OU would be so effective on offense with a redshirt Freshman QB. Turns out he is sensational. He went 21-23 for 363 yards passing, throwing for 3 touchdowns. Most of this was in the first half, too. He tied Heisman winning QB Jason White's record of 18 consecutive completed passes before being pulled. Unreal. While the scoreboard indicated that Stoops was "piling it on", please keep in mind that Bradford needed to throw the ball to get ready for the season, not to mention a huge, early test against Miami. I am sorry that it had to come at the expense of North Texas. OU beat Texas A&M a few seasons ago 77-0, where Stoops was telling players to fall down to try not to score anymore. Each team has to play full tilt for four-quarters at this level. Keep your head high and the support flowing. North Texas has a bright future. I think despite what the scoreboard indicated, North Texas has some components in place to make them competitive this season. Todd Dodge will be the top recruiter in your conference, no doubt. Best of luck against SMU, and the remainder of the season.
  4. Agreed! You can get the higher alcohol content imports at package stores - but they have to sell it warm. BTW, if you are leaving soon to head up there and you do need beer, there is a package store at the corner of Imhoff and Chautauqua next to the gas station. It is just west of the Lloyd Noble parking lot, so it is quite convenient! Enjoy the tailgating and the game! I am leaving soon myself!
  5. Will do. After this weekend, I hope that North Texas goes undefeated the rest of the season!
  6. The Ticket is mistaken. Broyles is a second team receiver. Broyles is a redshirt Freshman who likely would have seen some time tomorrow - he has been praised by Stoops. However, OU is fairly loaded at receiver with (1) Malcolm Kelly, (2) Joaquin Iglesias, (3) Adron Tennel, (4) Brandon Caleb...
  7. This Sooner fan is glad that Stoops took decisive action again.
  8. I think most teams feel the same way about getting hosed by ref's. The Sooners have been on the end of some horrendous officiating - @ Oregon last year, and @ Texas Tech the year before. These were calls that cost OU victories in both instances. Also, the Sooners always have to be a little better than Texas in their annual meeting. I have seen more than my fair share of lopsided calls in those games in the past couple of seasons.
  9. I appreciate the kind words. I work with several college football fans from schools all over the Big XII and Texas in general. I have always found that it is much better to be a good ambassador for your school than to be the reason people think your school has bad fans. Sportsmanship goes a long way. I am confident that you will experience good sportsmanship this weekend in Norman as long as you show it yourself.
  10. That is somewhat excusable - only because I have done that myself. Just consider yourself warned!
  11. Absolutely not under any circumstances, should you go there. There isn't enough eye-bleach to erase the sights.
  12. What a crazy story, huh? Sooner fans did some research on the guy and it turned out that he was actually a former Oklahoma State student. Whomever wrote the article speculated that the, um, tearer was a Sooner fan. You should be fine.
  13. You will notice that Norman can hardly handle the game day traffic. The one-lane streets near campus swell with cars hours before kick-off. Of course you can try to park closer to the stadium, but it gets pricey the closer you get. I would recommend parking at Lloyd Noble for convenience if you don't want to mess with the traffic near the stadium. There are several shuttles designated for getting folks to the stadium, so it should be coming and going quite frequently. Since you said you wanted to pick up your tickets at 4:30, you should be fine taking the shuttle to the stadium at that time. I usually like to get to the stadium 45 minutes prior to kickoff (so does everyone else, it seems!) to see the pre-game warm ups and soak in the atmosphere. You must be very excited for your son! What a neat experience for both of you!
  14. Broyles had been playing very well in practices this year and would have likely seen some playing time. What a waste to throw away such a huge opportunity over something so stupid. I hope Stoops boots him from the team. OU has had enough bad publicity lately and he needs to set an example.
  15. No way would I laugh at that! I know that TCU felt the same way when they came and beat OU in Norman a few seasons ago. I know that Boise State felt the same way this past season. I am a huge Sooner fan, but also a fan of college football because anything can happen! Sure the losses sting, but it makes the victories so much sweeter.
