  1. Thank you, Harry. I'll toast you and your creation that keeps me tied to the Mean Green Nation with a cold Shiner in a few minutes. Hell, I'll even save one for you for when we meet again and start another season of "Mr. Todd's Wild Ride".
  2. I consumed a couple of cases of Smokehaus...it was "different". I haven't seen any on the shelf THIS summer. The holiday brew was also "different". With apologies to whomever, I can take or leave fruity beer.
  3. Before I could write this (after reading previous posts) I had to open a Shiner Black Lager. I like all of the Shiner brews, even their light. I used to go straight Shiner Bock but now I have taken to buying the Family Reunion 12-pack regularly. I recommend it...but when tailgating gets here it will be back to Shiner Bock in a can as my weapon of choice.
  4. Three years later and my information has not changed. I must be indexed to the team!
  5. The current definition of "season" is 12 games. We have brought TD back for a fourth season and owe the man the opportunity to coach this team of good young men to 7 wins during the "season". To put it another way, I'm staying for the WHOLE Mass...no ducking out the side door after communion for me!
  6. Congratulations to RV for the results he has produced, and congratulations to the administration for realizing it! He has earned this extension/job security. He has not been perfect but he has hit for a higher average BY FAR than any AD I can remember.
  7. Steve, Happy Birthday, old friend! Hope this is a good one for you. You are just a young pup, I've got jocks older than you. Tom
  8. Harry!! Happy Birthday and thanks for doing what you do. You are appreciated. Enjoy your special day. Tom
  9. This is the time of year when I am over the crying spells and start to mix up some green Kool-aid occasionally. The odds of slipping up on Clemson are somewhat improved IMO, for a few reasons. They don't have us on film because of the new OC; they can see our players on film and they can look at USF for tendencies, but they can't see our guys run the revised offense. We may be able to gash them before they make adjustments. I think the defense will be improved when all the walking wounded are back in the fall. The new talent, if well assimilated in August camp, will help both sides of the ball. QB may be a question mark but we have lots of offensive weapons that can be used to take the pressure off. Hey, I can visualize it...that is the first step.
  10. Not so thinly veiled...yes Parody...yes Political...no Relax the sphincter, it was good fun.
  11. I was waiting for you to work in "ya big dope!" somewhere.
  12. Time flies when you're having fun! It seems like only yesterday I was wishing you Happy Birthday and here it is AGAIN. Enjoy it to the max, John. Tom
  13. Please don't badmouth the Sack n Save. That was a very reliable and convenient source of tortillas when we could bring them into the game. I'll bet their tortilla sales dropped 50% on game days after the ban went into effect.
  14. I thought (and still think) that our game with Army is to be played at Noon on 9/18. The schedule on the roster handed out yesterday says 9/18. The refrigerator magnets handed out yesterday say 9/16 (a Thursday night game?). You make the call.
  15. Unless I was hallucinating, I saw at least one all-out blitz yesterday. We used to see one occasionally but it has seemed to be extinct for the last few years. Will we have more sightings in the fall?
  16. They are both good. If we had to play Clemson on Saturday I would tap Nathan for experience and poise in big games, which will be needed if you believe the report from Clemson's spring game. I see Clemson's defense licking their chops at the thought of teeing off on an inexperienced quarterback. Derek needs to be given PT over the course of the season before he takes the reins. Derek IS the future ... but we have to win now. I don't know if he can get enough seasoning in our scrimmages. Just my opinion.
  17. I mailed mine in two weeks ago but they haven't cashed my check yet. I meant to go by the office and inquire but forgot to do so. Float is good but it would be nice to know they got it. Guess I'll call tomorrow.
  18. I was actually surprised by the amount of tailgating activity (I've seen less at some late-season games) and the crowd. It was definitely not overstated at 3,800+. Great experience and we do not have a quarterback problem.
  19. I will attend, sans Eaglette; I was successful in avoiding a baby shower in Austin today. A personal construction inspection is also on my agenda. I don't expect to see much more than a hint of the tweaked offense (much too early) but it will be entertaining.
  20. Before Clinton's time, the town was named Cold Shower.
  21. My two cents: Greater scrutiny and analysis of the SUBSTANCE of what these people spout off when they are campaigning. More visibility as to how they actually perform once they are on the job. Term limits!!! Two terms MAXIMUM. Requirement as to minimum number of days per session ON THE JOB, in their office, at their desk, etc. Requirement as to minimum number of days to be spent IN THEIR DISTRICTS and available to constituents. More regulation of THEM would cut down on the number of good-time Charlies that make it to Washington to "serve".
  22. Nate leaving before graduation makes me sad. I wish him well. I want every young man who commits to UNT to be successful on and off the field, as I am sure do you all.
