  1. Vito is realistic...one-in-a-row is not a trend. To use a cliche, we can only PLAY them one at a time. FAU is in the rear-view mirror and UhhLaLa is straight ahead. Let's run over them and start a trend.
  2. I've stayed on the train for years and the conductor will have to kick me off. He will find where I'm hiding and make me jump when he can no longer make it to the Seven Win Station.
  3. CMJ, I appreciate your comments. I always try to make the weekend games and really enjoy the doubleheaders. My routine is to try to get to the Pit 45 minutes before the tip to have something to eat in the Mean Green Room. I do not enjoy start-and-stop, white knuckle traffic for 15 miles of the trip; I leave straight from work and a normal 40 minute trip for me takes 75 minutes. A high-stress workday followed by a high-stress drive leaves me unable to enjoy the game. I can assure you that an extra 30 minutes makes a great deal of difference. I have no clue as to what happens on Thursday night, if that is the case. The bottom line is that promotion of basketball has got to be stepped up, we have a great product.
  4. I agree that if we can't cut it in the SBC we have no business moving to a more competitive conference. Return to consistently being the conference badass and we will get considered the next time there is a vacancy elsewhere. If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with! I wanted to scream that no one bothered to tell him the reason for low basketball attendance is the damned tipoff time. You are either going to have to market the hell out of all areas north of the lake or go to a later tip. You would draw 500 - 1,000 more for every game just by moving to a 7:35 p.m. tipoff. Those of us living in Dallas, Richardson, Garland, etc. won't even attempt that harrowing drive up 35 any more during the week. A simple change, well publicized, would bring big results for weekday games. Overall, I concur that the public report was underwhelming. Side Note: I keep cheering on the transit rail construction every time I make the drive. If the transit folks were smart enough to include a UNT spur in their plans, I can see myself taking the train to games in several years.
  5. Lets throw in an occasional draw play on third and seven.
  6. I lost my second wife over Dickey-ball. I've hung on to a GF for three years of Dodge-ball. I'd say we are better off.
  7. I am praying for a miracle and don't want to really think about the possible change just yet. Thinking generally, I would hope we found someone with a fire in the belly and skins on the wall who would make a five-year commitment and honor it. I agree with GreenMean that the reality is, with a demonstrated turnaround, the coach would move higher on the food chain. I would just ask that he stay long enough to learn some of our names.
  8. Lorenzo!! Feliz Cumpleanos ! You ain't Jesus but you're close enough for government work. Have a great day.
  9. Slocum is a good coach, and probably could coach, but he is 110% Aggie. No way to convert him. Franchione is a job-hopping whore. No to both.
  10. Riley has the game experience and understands what is going on on the field. Riley has a big heart and is a competitor. Riley is not the same quarterback he used to be and has not looked good in that position this year so far. He very nearly threw a wounded-duck pick-six at Army but the defender dropped it. If we plan to run the ball, Riley should be the man. If we want a balanced attack, we have to go with Chase. JMHO.
  11. Be careful...be very, very careful. In the real world, the devil you know is quite often better than the devil you don't know.
  12. Its not over until WE say its over!! When the goin' gets tough...the tough get goin'!!
  13. I think that is what makes the triple option so deadly...it LOOKS simple. If we weren't on the receiving end of that weapon I could actually enjoy seeing it in operation. BeatNavy, I have enjoyed your posts. Good luck to Army the rest of the way.
  14. Amen! If you DVR, just go back and watch some of his play.
  15. Yesterday and this morning I was sick, embarrassed, pissed off, angry and generally grieving. I'm over it. I'm thinking rationally again. We will never win another game in the past. The only opportunity for redemption is in the future. Our next opportunity is next Saturday against FAU. We are still undefeated in the Sun Belt. We still have nine games to play. Take all the negative energy and channel it into a gameplan that will beat FAU. Starting this moment, and until Saturday, if I am this coaching staff I am blocking out every thought except how to beat FAU and who I have on the squad that will step up and do it. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
  16. In the midst of all the fallout, don't lose sight of the fact that young men have committed to represent UNT and don't forget them. Men like my adopted player Shavod Atkinson. Shavod had a damned good game and was in the middle of the action again. His big old 99 was in the close-up TV picture MANY times. He had three solo tackles, three assists, and forced a fumble. Your strong play was very much appreciated, Shavod!
  17. TD has truly had a bad run of luck over the last four years...truly! At some point, you have to conclude that he is a f...n jinx! I support the man and I support him through this season and his opportunity to get 7 wins. Win 7 or go home.
  18. They say that all good things must end. Turn out the lights, the party is over. Tomorrow starts the same old s..t again. The cumulative injuries have taken away any chance we had for seven wins. Is this a conditioning/training issue? I thought we had one of the best. At any rate, this season is gone with nine still to play. My heart goes out to the great young men that represent us. Play out the string and move on. I need to vomit.
  19. It is beginning to dawn on me that Chico ain't the man...he's a f...n DUNCE!!
  20. I was with you, NT71, until you got to TOP. We will be lucky to break even there, perhaps even lucky for 35/25 in their favor. Other than that, I like the way you think!!
  21. I pretty much concur that this is a crossroads game. A win will sharpen the focus and build some confidence and momentum; a loss and guys will start to see it slipping away and go autopilot. No knock on anyone, it is human nature. I'm ready for the ball to bounce our way for the first time in a LONG time. Part of that is the old cliche "you make your own breaks". If the real Mean Green shows up after last week's kick in the nuts, we will make our own breaks.
  22. We will have a stadium that really stands out from the others ...OURS will have PROPELLERS !!!
  23. Not only NO, but HELL NO! I agree with the above 100%. Now can we re-focus on the season ahead and an important game we have to play on Saturday?
