  1. And thus began "Management By Objectives" in college sports. I would also like to retract by earlier comments on this board about "stopping the SMU bashing". DallasGreen has made a believer out of me. I say, "BEAT THE CRAP OUTTA THE SUMBITCHES!"
  2. I would submit that Coach Fran put his eggs in one basket in McNeal and it didn't pan out. His mistake was not sticking with Dustin Long.
  3. Like my staunch old aggie brother-in-law said, "Franchione is nothing more than a WAC level coach trying to make it in the Big 12". Although I've seen lower level coaches move up and make it in the "big time", I have to agree with his assessment of coach Fran. In my opinion, less than a winning season and/or a bid to one of the better bowls, Francione will be fired. And no, I wouldn't want him at NT. I'd rather have Slocum.
  4. All universities offer school names and logos on pink shirts and caps for the ladies - and some guys too, I guess.
  5. Heh heh. And it was all legal too.
  6. Damn! I could have sworn we went to the New Orleans Bowl four out of the first four years.
  7. Precisely. Who really gives a rats ass about Texas State University at San Marcos? TSUASM MAUSST SSMAUT I give up.
  8. "Sean Hakes (6-3, 200) a true freshman from Fort Worth, Texas, enrolled in January after leading North Catholic High School to back-to-back state championships...." Ten Div 1A programs in the state of Texas and this Ft Worth guy goes off to Akron??
  9. C'mon guys, wake up! Sam's is nothing more than a dumping ground for overstock, outdated clothing/hats that they can buy in large quantities and sell cheap.
  10. You wont see North Texas mentioned in these early committment articles. Stealth recruiting you know.
  11. What about a slightly morphed Scrappy on steriods?
  12. Just once I'd like to see North Texas listed next to one of these pre-season recruiting lists. Instead, I have to see UTEP, Tulane, New Mex State, and Tulsa, among the Big 12 schools that are listed next to just about every name.
  13. WE need to drop the "hate SMU" rhetoric.
  14. In a wierd sort of way, that's probably the funniest dialogue of any comedy movie I've ever watched.
  15. Easy for TU fans to do and say those things when you're the national bully.
  16. Not trying to argue, but what did all of the BCS and top tier athletic programs throughout the country do for fundraising and facility upgrades before sports administration degrees became in vogue? Bad example here, but I doubt the Univ of Texas had a sports administration degreed person to generate financial support during their first 100 years in athletics.
  17. I also enjoyed the Saturday afternoon games at the Snake Pit. Plenty of time to "party on" the rest of the weekend.
  18. I was at NTSU at the same time and I can say that SWC basketball couldn't hold a candle (or a jockstrap) to the Missouri Valley Conference. It was a top notch basketball conference back then.
  19. I beg to differ. You don't have to have a degree in Sports Management/Administration to do this job. Just a sound business mind with people skills, and some old fashion common sense.
  20. To the Denton locals and DFW area NT fans, I have a question for you. Does the NT Athletic Department have any radio/TV advertising campaigns promoting the Mean Green Club? Traveling to the office in the morning, while listening to a popular radio station, more times than not I hear a short spot promoting the Cardinal Club at Lamar University. Like the MG Club, the Cardinal Club helps provide scholarships for Lamar Student athletes. I would think that North Texas would do the same type of promoting to garner more membership in the Mean Green Club. Subsequently, increased membership should translate to more athletic ticket sales. Where do we stand on promotions?
  21. My guess is this is the "Warhawk" logo we'll see on the ULM helmets. Nice logo. See Southern Mississippi and Iowa.
  22. My Dad has been treating himself with insulin shots for over 30 years. He's almost 95 years old.
  23. Now that is one cool grill! But expensive.
