  1. Just a guess, but don't see the women getting an invite to the NIT and certainly not the NCAA tournaments.
  2. Ppffffffffffffft. JJ should be toast. Some of us are tired of waiting around five+ years for JJ to take us to round two of the tournament. He just doesn't have it. But hey, he's a nice guy.
  3. One and done. What else is new with another crappy NT team.
  4. Too many missed opportunities. A little later in the Spring and I'd be up in Denton watching the scrimmages and eating Adler's BBQ.
  5. Target is just great! I ordered one of the North Texas flash drives and the sumbitches sent me an Auburn University drive.
  6. Not to re-kindle old wars, but I have no use for any of the new North Texas logos, fonts, branding, or any other "spiritual meanings" derived from those logos/styles. Sorry, but that's just the way I feel. However, son of worm is O.K.
  7. I just hope my data doesn't "crash and burn" like last years football season.
  8. I was just in Best Buy for a larger capacity USB memory. Glad I waited. I just ordered the NT version from Target.
  9. Wish the Sun Belt would change the tournament format and have on the top eight teams in the tourny. Some teams have no business taking up a tourny slot.
  10. Adler, that's what I have been saying for several years now. Read any of the writeups on the Mean Green sports board, whether it's golf, track, swimming, tennis, etc., and you will find some of the most sickening spin you'll find anywhere. They only compare results to our own freakin' prior teams, never against the competition. "At a recent meet held at (you name it university), so and so swimmer beat the privious NT school record in 100 meter butterfly by a full two seconds". When you dig deeper, you'll find that our swimmer came in 6th place out of 6 swimmers in that heat; forget that she never qualified for the finals. But hey, she beat the NT record!! Or the infamous golf team that comes in 15th place from a field of 18 teams. But hey, the team as a whole did better this time around than last years team. Our not being able to truly compete in just about all the sports is truly disgusting, and quit honestly, wearing thin on this Mean Green Alum.
  11. * And the rest would come from where? Uh, didn't old Boone Pickens recently give OSU another gazillion dollars?
  12. Athletic Department finally throwing GoMeanGreen.com a bone, eh?
  13. Don't we have five ships to give? I would think there are still some quality kickers out there.
  14. 7th and 8th grade Catholic school football. I was one mean, 135 pound pulling guard sumbitch! Hey, All-conference in the 8th grade. Decided to hang up the cleats until my Senior year in HS when I decided to join the team to make a difference. Started "getting in football shape" the summer of my senior year. Got really excited about the thought of playing for the Bishop Byrne Shamrocks (hey! don't laugh. The catholic girls were great fun!), equivilent to 2A ball. First scrimmage of the fall, I lined up against a 5ft, 260 pound hispanic guy for one-on-one blocking drills(I was bout 180# by then); big mistake! He proceeded to give me a forearm to the chin; kinda like a hard uppercut. He knocked the crap out of me. I was not much use for the team the rest of the season.
  15. The Superdome will be remodeled and the NO Saints will play there this fall. And Houston has seen an increase in crime since the New Orleans refugees land there. Coincidence? I think not. Lot of NO scum ended up in Houston.
  16. Correction. Fans need to pony up the funds for practice facilities. Wouldn't it be great if there were so many Mean Green Club members that the club itself could pay for it.
  17. I checked my ample archives and you are correct. The QB was Vidal Carlin.
  18. Not sure about the first photo, but the second is John Love. Guess the pitcher would be Ramsey.
  19. I dunno about the Olympics, but some of those dancing chics on "Dancing With The Stars" are pretty nice to look at. Lotsa skin! O.K., maybe this interests the older Mean Greeners, but some of those gals are "saucie".
  20. Cedric Hardman Joe Greene Charles Beatty Glen Holloway Steve Ramsey Did I miss anyone? Tells you what kind of players we get at NT nowadays.
  21. Wasn't Univeristy of Houston in the MVC at one time?
  22. From the WAC board... Idaho football sales booming By John K. Wiley ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER Feb 10, 2006, 06:00 am MOSCOW, Idaho -- Nothing like a little star power to get people into the Kibbie Dome. After six consecutive losing seasons, Idaho has lured former coach Dennis Erickson back to the Palouse, bringing instant cachet to the Vandals' woeful football program. Rob Spear has been athletic director for only two years, but is savvy enough to know the well-traveled Erickson, who turned around the fortunes of Idaho and Washington State in the 1980s and Oregon State in the late 1990s, is a legend in these parts. The Vandals already are getting a return on their investment in the 58-year-old Erickson, Spear said Thursday. Erickson was signed Wednesday to a five-year contract, worth a maximum $1.5 million, including incentives. "It's unbelievable. Our ticket sales are going like hotcakes," Spear said, noting the school's athletics Web site was temporarily shut down by increased activity on Wednesday. About 3,500 season nonstudent tickets were sold last season. In two days this week after Erickson's hiring was first reported as a possibility, 350 season tickets were sold, Spear said. "Better tell people to buy their season tickets soon," he said. John Yarno, a first team All-America lineman who played for the Vandals when Erickson was an assistant coach here in the mid-'70s, predicted "The Dennis Erickson Show" in the 17,000-seat wooden dome will become the biggest draw in Moscow. "It's not always easy to be an Idaho Vandal. They are always kind of the underdog," Yarno said. " ... But getting Dennis Erickson has gotten everybody's attention." News of Erickson's return sent a jolt through the Vandal faithful. "We just had people calling and saying they haven't had season tickets for five years, now they're getting tickets," Spear said after Erickson was introduced as the Vandals new head coach. "They said they haven't contributed to the scholarship program in five years and now they want to contribute to that, too." Idaho athletic officials met Thursday afternoon to map a marketing strategy for their new attraction, including newspaper advertisements touting Erickson. For Erickson, the job offers a chance to get back to his first love: coaching college football players. He was 144-57-1 as a head coach at Idaho, Wyoming, Washington State, Miami and Oregon State. His Miami teams won national championships in 1989 and 1991. He built a reputation for building winners from foundering programs. "Back in '82 when I got here (as head coach), it was all about the Big Sky Conference and I-AA, and we had a great deal of success in that atmosphere," Erickson said Wednesday. "Now it's about winning the WAC championship ... that's what it's all about. Now it's about competing in Division I, and taking it to another level." Idaho is entering its second season in the Western Athletic Conference. The Vandals were 5-18 in two years under departing coach Nick Holt, including 2-9 last season. "It's not always easy to be an Idaho Vandal. They are always kind of the underdog... But getting Dennis Erickson has gotten everybody's attention." -- John Yarno Former Idaho Vandal who played when Dennis Erickson was an assistant there in the mid-'70s.
  23. That was then, this is now. Kids/recruits seem to like these high powered offenses, and so do most fans. Heck, offer Dodge a package deal. Todd Dodge and his son to North Texas and pack Fouts.
