  1. If your into doing your own cooking for a small group, here's a neat Weber grill that uses propane. You can buy similar cheaper grills at Lowes that are less expensive but they are not Webers. http://www.weber.com/bbq/pub/grill/2005/q/gg_q.aspx Or, here's a neat Igloo 60 qt. Cube Ice Chest for $44.89. I can't tell you where to buy it 'cause Harry would kick me off the board for advertising, but for Mean Green fans, they would go for $39.95, plus tax and shipping.
  2. Good, no bulsh!t post GrandGreen. That about sums up where NT has always been and thought of, and only some earthshattering move or announcement will shake us from this "ugly duckling" stature in athletics. I've been hearing about this "sleeping giant" crap for too many years. SOMETHING needs to wake the S.O.B. up!
  3. Hanks wife needs to know that Corpus is on the coast. Hurricanes usually make landfall on coastal communities.
  4. Hmmmmmm. If that's the 1935 version of Fouts then very little has changed to this point.
  5. Unfortunately, that "pesky financial input" is what keeps North Texas athletics, specifically football, from moving up in the world of intercollegiate athletics. It costs money to run a first class D1A program, and NT alumni have not shown that they will pony up to meet the demands of a high level program.
  6. Good points on burying the SMU hatred hatchet. On another note, can someone tell me why, according to the "IndyStar" report referenced above, travel expenses for North Texas ran $1,407,550 and $1,174,237 for Louisiana Tech of the WAC. Not sure if LT get help from the WAC for traveling to Hawaii during the reporting year, but the bottom line is they spend less on travel than we did. And doesn't La Tech field a baseball team? Someone please explain to me how this can be. What am I missing in this Sun Belt "utopia" versus travel in the WAC? By the way, I could not bring up comparative numbers off the government site that was referenced.
  7. I don't think I've ever heard it put quite like that.
  8. Glad we spent all of that money on colors, wordmarks, and other crap, etc. Or, is this leftover furniture from the Helwig days? Regardless, the new tennis center looks to be first class.
  9. Money could have been better spent on Assistant Coach's salaries.
  10. And about those natural wetlands. They breed mighty big mesquitos. Some so big they actually have "red zeroes" on their wings!
  11. How much money did NT spend on the new logo? You know, logogate. Didn't they hire this big marketing firm, then presented the findings to committees, etc., to aproved the new signage and wordmarks. How much did all of this cost?
  12. I've enjoyed the deck since its inception. Catch a meal before the game (I like the Fajitas best, have a beer, then enjoy the game. Sometimes I go back to the deck in the 3rd quarter to watch the game from a different view. Like the other gentlemen, it is a fund raising arm for NT athletics, so I have no problem paying for the drinks and food.
  13. I'll get blasted for this, but so be it. I'd move to the WAC tomorrow if they'd take us. It would shore up the Eastern Division with La Tech. Add Arkansas State and another and help build the WAC. The SunBelt gets no respect no matter how you slice it. And never will. But.... The only way I'd agree to the WAC is for the current members to remain intact with the conference, with a huge monetary penalty if the try to leave withing x number of years. Hopefully it would keep Fresno, Boise, Hawaii, Nevada, and others in the conf.
  14. "if you believe in the Saragin Ratings then UNT is ranked in the 160's of all D-1A and D-1AA schools......remember there are only 117 D-1A schools.....and this after 9 years of the current administration." Another dark reminder.
  15. As a veteran myself, I too appreciate the sacrifices made by military men and women who cam e before and after me. What's sad is that out of approximately 20 homes on my block, a total of three are displaying the American flag today. What a sad testimonial to the state of our country and our people.
  16. "UNT and TAMUCC share a similar background. UNT was a member of the Southland Conference before returning to Division I-A in football as an independent in 1995." What a sad comparison. NT is being compaired to a program that will join the SLC this summer. Up until now TAMUCC was a D5AAAAAAAAAAABB program. Or something like that.
  17. And at North Texas, the "sleeping giant", ...............uh,.......sleeps! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  18. Rick, you might also remember that the President of Boise State University openly stated on several occasions that he wanted to be in the Mountain West Conference. There is not doubt in my mind that Boise will succeed in the very near future. I think it's called vision.
  19. Like GreenJoe says in all his posts, Buy season tickets Join The Mean Green Club I might add, when you do those two things, you will hear from the athletic department. It least I have. The problem is in soliciting all those graduates, parents of students, and old alumni. We just don't seem to have a handle on those that come and go.
  20. We definitely need another "state of NT athletics" type meeting. Wonder if Lee Jackson will be leading the charge like Dr. Pohl did a few years ago. That's when Gene Stallings was brought in as a consultant and gave his thoughts and recommendations on NT athletics?
  21. If you're talking about a North Texas vs SMU BBQ cookoff, keep in mind that the SMU fans will more than likely oursource Coopers out of Llano to do the cooking for them.
  22. Is there any chance they could build the new COBA building in the area where a certain football stadium is currently located? Lot of expansion possibilities for acadamia out there I hear.
