  1. We have to score first; or get within FG distance. I'd like to know how we are going to contain Jamail Charles with a 3-4 defense. Once he's past the line of scrimmage, can our LB's make the play? He has sprinter speed.
  2. Us old guys look cool with our ipods. Music CD to Ipod, no problem. Podcast to Ipod, we (I) need instructions.
  3. Where's a MOAB when you need one? Empty stadium of course.
  4. Wasn't there a Texas university a few years ago that was ranked 3rd or 4th tier by US News & World Report, then took it upon themselves to "smooze and booze" the right people who do the ranking each year. The university brought the folks down for a tour and did a selling job on how great their programs were. Next year the university made it to the 2nd tier. Imagine that.
  5. The precendent is that we can't recruit really talented QB's( few noted exceptions). We have to depend on "walk on's". Tune is a good one and could have a future.
  6. Is Nathan no only a student of X's and O's, but also a student in the classroom? I remember a time when I was so pumped up about Joey Byerly being our starting QB some day, especially after his redshirt season. Well, we all know how that story ended. Good luck to Nathan. I watched him in the All Star game and was impressed.
  7. I watched the All-Star game and you're correct, Tune did a good job. But heaven help us if we must rely on a true freshman to lead our offense. All of these years back in 1A and I can only think of two QB's that have been effective-Scott Hall and Andrew Smith. Our recruiting ability has been suspect at the QB position and other positions for that matter. For a number of years, it seems like all we did was recruit Tight Ends or convert someone to a TE. Now that position is a concern. And no quality running back was recruited this year? North Texas had two freakin NCAA rushing title RB's within a 3 year span and we couldn't interest even one top HS recruit to play here? Something is wrong with this recruiting picture.
  8. Wonder what our Ramon, our offensive coordinator, thinks about the QB situation?
  9. I agree. SOW needs to be more visible. Obviously, the green SOW would look better, but I don't know what color the helmets will be this year.
  10. You are blessed to have a child. They can be a pain in the ass at certain stages of their lives, but eventually they do grow up and mature. Well, somewhat. But know this, when they leave the nest, either for college or a job, you will miss them. Cherish the time you spend with them, raise them in a good environment, and love them everyday you have them. Time goes by so fast, as you will soon find out. And by all means, take them to Mean Green football games. I still make road trips to Denton with 2 of my 3 daughters, even though they are aggie$. Good luck. I'm certain everything will turn out fine for you and your family.
  11. But Harry, it appears that out of 2,134 users, I'm the only one with a warning label! Is this an anti-Sicilian conspiracy? My feelings are hurt.
  12. What is a Warn: 0% mean under my avatar? I just noticed that on one of my last posts. Did I do bad?
  13. Good stuff GrandGreen. We get 6-7 state 100 players and within a couple of years we have our best teams and SBC championships. Yet, we still believe in stealth recruiting and have been lazily recruiting the past couple of years. Or so it seems.
  14. Oh, no! Don't do anything to draw attention to little, itty bitty North Texas. We are content to be in the backseat of all sports in the region, the state, and the nation. Gosh, please don't say or do anything. Let's just keep everything status quo forever. I couldn't find a better way to sound sarcastic.
  15. You are correct, Sir! Give me OOC wins over SMU, LaTech, Akron and play Tulsa really close and competitive, sprinkle in 5 key SBC wins and I'll be happy. The SBC title would be great, but not a meaningful as those OOC wins. What about Texas, you ask? I want a competitive game. That's all I ask. No blowouts.
  16. We might as well sell out the football program and put 100% of our efforts into basketball.
  17. You're kidding, right? Takes someone with passing skills to deliver that kind of pass.
  18. Classic Cobbs touchdown! A beautiful run.
  19. Alabama A & M is ranked higher than Rice? Good list.
  20. Damnit, then if this is the case, heads should have rolled in Denton. From RV down to every swinging richard assistant!!! NT needs to put a damn product on the field that can win OOC games AND the SBC AND the NO Bowl. Then your fans will come. Until then, we are pi$$ing into the wind. Again, what harm would it have done to include ALL 10 D1A Texas teams? And we wonder why NT is not listed by the better recruits on the Area 100 and State 100 recruiting lists?? DeepGreen Frustrated in SE Texas
  21. Rick, how much trouble would it have been to make that bowl available to 10 out of 10 Texas D1A programs? Forget we are not a top 25 team. Forget last seasons 2-9 record. But don't forget 25 straight conference wins, four SBC Championships, and four NO Bowl appearances. And somewhere you cannot forget two national rushing champions within a span of two years. The fact is, as members of the SBC it means jacksh!t. The bowl is being reorganized as the Texas Bowl and there is no excuse for not including North Texas in the mix. No excuse.
