  1. Through your, admittedly, "specious" logic you are also making the assumption that players would rank the above schools in a hierarchy and only choose NT if they were unable to sign with the higher ranked programs. If you take into account that NT might have just been a better fit and not just a last resort after the other schools wouldn't have panned out then Tristan may well be the best or among the best of those signed out of Brewster.
  2. Amazing. Simply amazing. A post posing a question about recruiting classes becomes a carbon copy of 1,000 other threads about needing to grow the fan base and the shortcomings of past administrations.
  3. JJ or Todge? Just wondering who everyone thought put together the better recruiting class. Given their team's relative needs, potential impact players, ability to translate players into conference titles and postseason berths, etc...
  4. CFN has them slated for a BCS bowl with this schedule. http://www.hawaiiathletics.com/schedule.html?p=3
  5. All you gotta do is read the post several up from yours to find your answer. This kind of "rehashing" of pseudo-controversy may be what UNTfan23 is talking about. Just a guess.
  6. As the awesome cheer originator I can tell you it will be... What up Foooooooo?
  7. I trust Johnny's coaching a bit more than Trilli's. Let the "we'll fold" rebuttals commence.
  8. Per athletics website. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...p;ATCLID=899605
  9. I predict Odufuwa will sign with us and we'll hear something about the last scholarship soon thereafter.
  10. I'm gonna disagree on this one. First of all I think a lot of new fans (read Southlake citizens, Dentonites who are excited about a coaching change, alumni who just got back in the fold) have jumped on board. Second, if you are like me and wanted to hold on to your section E seats for $250 you got in early. Last, I'm pretty sure a lot of people who have been continued season ticket holders ponied up early just to show the athletic department "You've made a show of good faith, now I'll do the same." I don't doubt that season tickets sales really have increased and will continue to grow.
  11. I'm not sure how much we made monetarily but I know we benefited exponentially compared to seasons past in the "good pub" department. And I know our current recruiting class is a reflection of the success.
  12. Holy Family is a school in PA. So is this for sure?
  13. No, Harry you are not naive. We went into this offseason with a few needs that we had to address. 1)Who is going to replace the scoring of Calvin and Kendrick's scoring? We signed Tristan Thompson and Collin Dennis will be ready to go. This is a higher caliber of player than we are used to in my opinion. We are actually "reloading" instead of "rebuilding" when we lose players. 2)Who will run the point? Ben Bell has another year and we went out and got TWO capable point guards in McCoy and White. My opinion is that White agrees to sit a year to have several years to be "the man" and we are set for a while. 3)Who will be our replacement for the big men? This may be the only place where Johnny has yet to put the puzzle together. If we can find a quality big then I think Johnny is to be heavily commended and I will be giddy about basketball. I have to say I'm even more excited about basketball than I am football. Yes, Dodge will do wonders for our football team in year one but I think when it comes to immediate impact this year Johnny's boys will bring us more success in 2007-2008.
  14. We're not just "keepin' up with the Joneses" when if comes to Texas schools either...we've gotta keep up with Sun Belt schools, ULL is in the process of building one. http://www.2theadvocate.com/news/acadiana/7347431.html
  15. Some people get a bit jumpy when you throw anything less than sunshine about the Mean Green out there...opinion or not. It's understandable, it happens in every fan base.
  16. Exactly. And the tailgate will be even better this season...stay tuned.
  17. This concerns me too. If we were OU, UT or Ohio State scandals would be swept under the rug. Because we are North Texas the NCAA would be quick to make an example of us.
  18. I wonder about this line of thinking. I know that in football the difference between SEC and midmajor is very pronounced but I wonder if the talent gap isn't considerably smaller in basketball. Teams like Memphis, George Mason, Gonzaga, etc make me think the "midmajors" are quite comparable.
  19. Mark this day in history. Playmaker was intentionally clever.
  20. Once again, how much weight can you give to a sportswriter who is in Alabama and couldn't possibly have the time to research all of the schools he takes shots at? I mean, how much would Randy Galloway know about the MAC?
  21. Come to think of it you are absolutely correct. Clearly my 760 on the math portion of the SAT didn't include this question.
