  1. But here is the vital difference, one that the MUTS seem to conveniently forget every time. Football is a sport. In sports there is a winning team and a losing team. When NT and MUTS faced off in 2001 MUTS was the losing team. You can say what you want until you are blue in the face (pun intended) but when the chance to prove who was the better team arose you lost. And you can't call it luck, a fluke, or whatever...I think we went on to win about 26 straight SBC games after that.
  2. Pretty cool...they even included our December stadium.
  3. Sounds like a commitment from him would be tentative at best.
  4. No, it really isn't that hard to find probable cause...if you know what you're doing. The problem with some of these smaller departments though is that they don't do a very good job of "enunciating and articulating" their reasons for contact/search. Leads to a lot of cases pitched out if the arrestee is smart enough to challenge the search. All I was asking was, if there was a legitimate reason for search, why not state it?
  5. I humbly disagree. I've always enjoyed the ones with patios...Rip's, Lucky Lou's...more.
  6. Even more reason to question his judgement in picking SMU. Oh wait, he wanted to throw the ball when he was picking a school.
  7. Notice that when they caught themselves cheating they were replaced in the tournament by NORTH TEXAS?
  8. Why? It never explains how this sheriff and deputy got from a "routine traffic stop" to "a search of the vehicle."
  9. Some guys just realize their heart is in the college game. Money can't buy that. Think Coach K or Dean Smith never got a few calls from the pros?
  10. The following is a list of players who have orally committed to play for SMU beginning in the 2008 season
  11. No. What we had those four years was special. The collection of talent in Booger, Awasom, Buckles, Spencer, Casey, Kassell, Hurd, Pruitt, Cardwell, etc on defense was one that I don't think you'll see for a long time to come. That defense combined with an offensive line that understood the Dickey offense (and was healthy enough to run it) was an anomaly in today's Belt. I think Troy could repeat this year but I don't see a 4-peat as possible.
  12. The true testament to how successful we will have become under Todge isn't about wins and losses. It's about gaining early commitments and highly rated players who don't include in their quotes about signing "I wanted to play for coach Dodge" and instead include "I wanted to play for North Texas."
  13. My greatest fear is that we may all be deeply disappointed if the "savior" doesn't come through by the end of year one.
  14. I was just wondering something. Rivals doesn't show any of the SMU early commitments...surely this is an oversight, right?
  15. And I'd rather spend travel weekends in Playa del Carmen, Jamaica or London...I just expect to be able to attend (and see more alumni and students while there) games in Dallas, Houston, Tulsa, or El Paso because of the price of gas/airfare.
  16. I hope you don't mind that I changed your gap to symbolize just how large it is.
  17. At this rate we'll have a full class by the end of June!
  18. I look at rivals periodically and I have to say the number of players listing North Texas as an option has grown quite a bit recently. Could the players who have already committed have anything to do with this? I would like to think they do. I also notice that we have 13 offers out there listed on rivals.
  19. Through your, admittedly, "specious" logic you are also making the assumption that players would rank the above schools in a hierarchy and only choose NT if they were unable to sign with the higher ranked programs. If you take into account that NT might have just been a better fit and not just a last resort after the other schools wouldn't have panned out then Tristan may well be the best or among the best of those signed out of Brewster.
  20. Amazing. Simply amazing. A post posing a question about recruiting classes becomes a carbon copy of 1,000 other threads about needing to grow the fan base and the shortcomings of past administrations.
