  1. I would trade with either ULL or MUTS any day of the week. MUTS- great stadium feel. The all aluminum seating may be a detractor for some but I've always felt that the more "posh" the stadium the less football friendly it was. I would kill for NT to have a 45,000 seat aluminum stadium. As FFR stated the open air boxes are awesome. After a lil' back and forth between myself and a few of the MUTS fans last trip down there they were nice enough to invite me into one of their boxes. I would love to have a box just like this at Fouts with the sightlines and beer! ULL- If we could trade straight up with anyone in the belt I would take their stadium. The dug in bowl is great for noise, sightlines and atmosphere. It's also expandable if you fill in the endzones and the food there is unbeatable. I will never forget two years ago when I went with Zeke and Med to the N.O. Bowl there. Great hospitality and fans...but no tailgating? What? I am sure that was just a bowl thing, right?
  2. I nominate untplaymaker for this week's Don King award.
  3. Shhhh. Saying that JJ's contract extension isn't the work of the devil will only incite the wildlife.
  4. I'm just taking a stab in the dark here but was the kid's name Flanigan?
  5. I know it's their job to predict how teams will do and all but how can ANYONE say that North Texas (or any team for that matter) can't compete for the SunBelt title? This isn't the Pac 10 or SEC with powers at the top and cupcakes at the bottom.
  6. I don't recall the Thomas Moreland kid in our recruiting class. Am I getting early onset alzheimer's or was he a late addtion/walkon?
  7. I still haven't seen anyone explain why simply stating "we should aspire to be in something better than the Sun Belt" is 1)Breaking news like we (and the athletic department) didn't already know this 2)Constructive in any fashion given that we TRIED the last time CUSA had an opening 3)Relevant since we are in the Sun Belt and are just trying to make the best of what we've got to work with To me this thread is like telling Ethiopian kids, "You're so pathetic. The rest of the world gets to eat and all you do is sit there and starve. Why don't you aspire to not be hungry?" Yep, they're starving on purpose genius!
  8. Hello, my name is DaddyDumpalot. I'd like to bitch and moan about anything and everything that North Texas 1)can't control 2)has already given thought to and tried to rectify and 3)should be commended for already making strides in. While I'm at it I will off NO plausible solutions because it's easier to complain about something than to fix it. I don't ever have to give any ground because I'm arguing against a standard that I personally made up and North Texas could never achieve because I've painted the school into a corner with my circular logic. Anyone/everyone who disagrees with me will be painted as being a part of the "gomeangreen.com" club who stands alone on all issues and doesn't have a finger on the pulse of the "real world". Concrete facts or even solid conjecture to the contrary of what I have to say will be summarily disregarded and I will respond to only the portions of others' posts that suit my rebuttal. Thank you, try the steak and remember to tip your waitresses. I'll be here all week.
  9. The MAC. Up until about 10 years ago I don't think anyone would have put the MAC consistently on par with CUSA or the WAC. Then, lo and behold, Marshall blows up. Then Toledo gets better. Then Miami of Ohio. Then Central Michigan. Ohio was 9-5 last year. Etc. Granted, Marshall left for CUSA but I'm sure neither Marshall nor the best team in CUSA wanted to line up against Central Michigan last year in a bowl. Outside of Boise, who else in the WAC was the star of last season? Am I saying the MAC has passed CUSA or the WAC? No. Am I saying that it's abso-freaking-ludicrous to think that if the teams in a conference help to build up the product that it won't inevitably get better? Yes. Am I saying we have teams in established recruiting hotbeds and the potential to get much better? Yes.
  10. The same FAU that owned us under Dickey even when we were winning in conference?
  11. When Ruth was playing all you had was white players and yet he still dominated the sport.
  12. Ah yes, when logic isn't in your corner place a call to the ever dependable straw man.
  13. Someone once referred to Howerton as a poor man's Justin Barnett. Oh how I wish those words weren't ringing true.
  14. I'll go with a big "the talent is there." Midseason I'll change my answer to a big "Who brought the lynch mob?", around conference tourney time I'll change it to a big "You guys are giving me tired head with this 'fold' crap" and by the end of it all I'll probably have a big "I told you so...just like this year."
  15. Yeah...can you not tailgate there?
  16. I'll take any excuse to tailgate... I plan on being out there by 12:30 at the latest (hoping to convince the wife to come) and I'll have the grill, napkins, plates, coals and an appetite. I think the GMG Bowl should draw like the spring game does so I'm gonna tailgate like it. We still need a few things though: Dogs-Med? Zeke? Buns-Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Liquid Refreshment- ? Ice- ? Feel free to apend your name to any of the above in your reply.
  17. Stadium. Conferences change with the wind...the kind of money it would take to get a stadium on the other hand may be a once in a century opportunity.
  18. Shhhhh....there will be no logic on the fire JJ board!!!
  19. You are exactly right about meangreenqueen...I'll probably be in trouble for not remembering that since she'll be family soon.
  20. Welcome to one of the most rewarding and thankless jobs on campus. Congrats! You have at least three former Presidents on this board (CMJ, Austin Talon and myself) and I'm sure any of us would be glad to offer you any assistance you might need...I no, I don't mean complaining and critiques. Do you have any plans to revisit the idea of alumni voting priveleges?
  21. Finally someone who's got his thinking cap on.
  22. First off, your story just couldn't be true because thousands of students hate the toritillas...even if none of them are here to say it and I personally saw them throwing them when they were legal. Second, throwing tortillas is blatant copy-cattism. Then again, so is the tomahawk chop, the wave, having a cannon, and the overrated chant. I can only pray that by next football season only the schools that originated each of these things will be doing them. I despise lack of originality.
