1. The person you asked offered to send you a message. You declined. They, for whatever reason, don't want this on the public forum. 2. If, as your screen name would imply, you are about to be gone from your position on the AD staff, I would recommend just going. Nothing good will come from arguing on this message board. Just go. From the looks of your screen name, you harbor some bitterness that you need to let time take care of. I wish you nothing but the best in the future. And you complain about personal attacks? Funny.

I take it, from the comment above, that you know Dale and not just the "TV Dale." He could have saved the airtime for reporting on sports and just bought a banner.

Reports out that Art Briles will be fired at 11 am
UNTLifer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Briles always had an air of "dirtiness" about him. I'm surprised McCaw's safe, and I have to admit, I always thought the Bball Coach Drew would be the first one caught. Starr will be fine. Thank goodness we ended up with Coach Seth and not young Briles.- 116 replies

MGB: Some thoughts on where UNT goes from here
UNTLifer replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
More speculation or do you have proof? Your idea that RV would ride out his contract because the Mythical 17 were his buddies was wrong. -

Shouldn't you be busy tweeting our old QB's complaining about their choice of shirt color?

Conference USA reaches landmark deal with ESPN

Still looking for the "landmark" part of this deal. -
No to Spurrier and Mack.

He hasn't attended any games in Denton, just blasting those without any experience. The fracking ban has nothing to do with me as I haven't lived in Denton in years, but I speak from personal experience and from having many friends with kids that attend Denton High, Ryan and Guyer, but don't let that keep you from your distant assumptions and generalizations. I did go back for a reunion recently and the stands were full at DHS, as they were when I played ball there.

In other high-profile UNT hiring news...
UNTLifer replied to Christopher Walker's topic in Mean Green Football
We are North Texas. We don't need spats and fuzzy top hats. We need capes, canes, platforms and pimp hats. -
I am guessing RV, Mrs. RV, son of RV is GTBGone. My suggestion is to make like your screen name and just go. Nothing good will come of this.

This is, and has been, a problem for a long time and should not be the case. This is one of he easy ways to market your program and I have heard how difficult it is for media to get access to our program. So short sighted.

Had to be? I think he loved it.

Star Telegram's Take On RV's Resignation.
UNTLifer replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Loser? The result is also what I wanted, but, as my Dad used to say, there is more than one way to skin a cat. We differed on the manner of skinning, and I don't run around insuring everyone knows that my point of view is always right. May I suggest ice for the shoulder? -

The Dallas Observer. Isn't that a small step up from The Enquirer? -

You win. It was all you and your idea for the banner, your idea to berate us for months on this message board, etc... You win because you were a club level ticket buyer that carries much more sway than us "sit in the stands with the common man" fan. You win the internet today. Great job. -

My post was based on what we had when he arrived and what we have now. The argument that Apogee was built with student fees is just stupid. Any stadium we built was going to utilize student fees for up to 50% of the construction which is all that is allowed by law. Heck, half the people that bring this up also complained, at that time, that our student fees were too low and still are. You can't have it both ways. Also, as I mentioned in the original thread, I didn't want to rehash the negatives as that wasn't the purpose. I just don't see the need to kick the man out the door when he accomplished more than those before him. -
Must be a grade casualty.

Smatresk AD history shows leaving interim AD in place
UNTLifer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Agreed. She has done a fantastic job. -
1. Reconnect with the lettermen and rebuild that organization. 2. Clean house and hire people that are passionate about seeing UNT reach its potential. 3. Hold open houses at Apogee and invite every former and current season ticket holder, MGC member, single game ticket purchaser, HOD Bowl game ticket purchaser, recent grad and current student. Share my vision for tne department and stress the importance of their involvement to reach these goals. 4. Speak to every Denton civic group, church group, club, etc... and sell North Texas athletics and The benefit it will have on the community. 5. Provide our coaches with the support they need to succeed. Replace Benford and Kee immediately. 6. Market this program professionally and get rid of the dead weight in this department.

Rick, Thank you for your time and effort at North Texas. I remember you speaking to my fraternity when you arrived, and you laid out a vision for facility improvements to bring our programs up to speed. This was something I had never heard from a NT AD and your excitement about the possibilities for and the future of NT athletics was a breath of fresh air. Most AD's I had experienced, Steve Sloan and Craig Helwig for example, treated the job as a pay check with no vision for the future. Although the plans changed over the years, you were able to see a lot of these goals accomplished and I thank you for that. We now have a stadium and facilities that we can be proud of and nowhere to go but up. I won't dwell on the areas that didn't pan out, but I think this was the right decision at the right time. You can look back and be proud of where the program was when you arrived and where it is now. Now it is time for someone new to take the reigns and run with it. I hate to see people have to leave on a negative note, but that is just the nature of the business. I hope that when the emotions of the moment and of the last few years become a thing of the past, that you and the fans of UNT will have positive memories of your time here and of your overall efforts to lead the athletic department. Thank you and best of luck to you in the future.
