  1. Nope, as noted above, the Bob Tyler experiment was a total failure.
  2. Glad for UH since Robertson isn't in the best shape. What is the board above the stands on the left side of the first picture. Kind of odd looking. It also appears to have an erector set underside. Mack Rhodes, their new AD, is known for fundraising and building facilities. That is why they brought him on board from, I believe, Akron.
  3. Now there's something I don't think I would admit on a message board.
  4. one of the greatest lines ever. From Troy Phillips blog:
  5. UNT is in the position to deny SMU a game. We are the better program right now. If money makes a team a sleeping giant then why isn't Harvard a high profile job? What about Rice? They aren't because neither has had much success in their history outside of SMU during the years they were buying football players and I'm sure basketball players as well. SMU won't play us because they don't want to get hammered and have to live with that hanging over their heads. Outside of Memphis, CUSA is on pretty even ground with most of the Sun Belt schools. SMU is going to have "a slew of high end coaching options?" I think Coach Doh was considered high end at the time of his hiring. Look at the facts: RPI: North Texas wins. Facilities: North Texas by a mile. Recent History: North Texas by a mile. Current Coaching: North Texas by a mile. Future Growth Potential: North Texas by a mile.
  6. Looks like the old Ponder gym I played in as a youngster.
  7. Mooch. Fry will be dead and there will be much to do in the tailgate area.
  8. Roberson was held on the long touchdown run to start the game, but it appeared most of our players over-pursued the play and provided the cutback lanes. Cook had a bad game, but will be one of our better defensive players by the end of the year. The tackle at the 4:14 mark was by James Hamilton.
  9. I thought Jackson look very good against Guyer, and Gipson is very impressive. Walsh was also impressive, but a little too cocky for my liking.
  10. Esteban will be fine, as this was a tough way to start the year. I was a little short in my answer regarding how he did during the game and I am afraid it came out wrong. I'm a big fan of Santiago and think he is better suited to play guard and think someone in the NFL will give him a shot at that position or center. Bowers is a stud and will be a Top 10 pick when he comes out for the draft.
  11. Don't understand your constant negativity towards the program and calling players "hot dogs." What is your beef with the program?
  12. So, UNT90, would you propose throwing Baine in for mop up duty in some of these games and sit Thompson? If so, what do you propose Dodge do if Tune were to get hurt and Thompson only has one series against Arkansas State from last year to fall back on for experience?
  13. Yes, Stradford made some nice blocks, but he came here from OU with blazing speed and was supposed to be a difference maker as WR. He earns his keep as WR first, and he didn't do a thing. Santiago was a disappointment to say the least. Too much foot speed from the Clemson DE's.
  14. Danny Kannel was not prepared and was on his knees for the BcS team the entire game. Pam Ward corrected him a number of times. They need to move Kannel to ESPN Regional with Sam Smith.
  15. Dwaylon Cook: Struggled, but will be a force for us soon. I have faith.
  16. Any chance of Jones gaining a medical redshirt?
  17. Regarding the first big play, yes the referee did get mowed over and was out for the remainder of the first half, but more noticable to me on that play was the obvious holding penalty against Roberson. I am not complaining though, because I thought it was a well called game by the officials. Where was Stradford?
  18. Yep, and Vito is the same guy that gets half of his article ideas off of this message board.
  19. Those would be the ones. Would love that with obviously a little updating.
  20. I, too, would have loved to come to the game. Met a gal from Clemson years ago in Cancun when I was 19. She thought I was a grad student at NT (who am I to correct her).
  21. Rick or anyone have a picture of the uniforms he is talking about here? Too many changes and too many years have passed for me to remember. I'm thinking these were the white pants with the double green stripe and the white shirts with the shoulder stripes if memory serves me right. If so, I would agree.
  22. I also agree that special teams is a concern, but it wasn't the main problem in the Clemson game. *Punting game was fine with Atterbury putting Clemson at their 10 yard line twice, put 4 punts inside their 20 (including the two at their 10 above), averaged 42.9 yards a kick and had a long of 59. * Coverage units struggled with the first two players down the field missing tackles leading to big returns. * Kickoffs were bad. Not deep enough and one out of bounds. The problems I saw, and turning points early in the game were: * The penalty on Carey that led to a short kick-off and short field for Clemson. Should have been 14-7 at half with us having the momentum, but was 21-7 and Clemson had the "mo" and their fans were back in the game. * Giving up the big play. No explanation needed. * Tackles getting beat off the edge. By the time Tune was set up in the pocket, the D-ends were on him. Very little time to actually look downfield. Then again, the Clemson D-line is awfully good with one player a former #1 recruit. * Dodge trying one more play to pick up a few extra yards to attempt a field goal that led to Tune's first interception. Having faith in a kicker and this wouldn't be an issue. * Craig Roberson played a very good game, and other that blown coverages, our D-backs stuck with their WR's, but overall tackling must improve. Overall, loved the way we looked. We were so close a number of times. My wife, who rarely watches, got involved in the game and said, "We look so good and then a play or two just kills us." This will turn around with experience and not playing Clemson. I also loved the fact that we never looked overmatched. Good team speed, Coach Char should be commended, D-line looked good, but had a hard time generating pressure on their QB partly due to Clemson's massive O-Line. Tune managed the game well, threw accurately, minus the intercepted "fade" route, Darius Carey looked great with a broken hand and Dunbar is an absolute stud, great moves, speed, etc... It is amazing what a year can do, but I am with emmitt and TFLF in stating that we should win 7-8 games this year. Did I mention Danny Kannel sucks as an announcer?
  23. I don't mind the all white but would love to see a little more color. Love the color green of our numbers and would like to see that color incorporated more into our pants. No green pants, no black jerseys and please get us a green helmet with a logo.
  24. I echo emmitt's original post. Love the look of this team and we will only get better. That was the best team on our schedule, by far, and we hung with them minus the big plays. The 79 yard punt by Clemson was a killer. We have them pinned back, hold them to a three and out and should end up with good field position for once, and they kick it the length of the field. Also, the celebration call against Carey was ridiculous and resulted in Clemson getting a short field to work with just prior to the half. Some of you can pick up your wrinkled $100 bills at the door. Be glad you saw the game live emmitt. It was a Parker love fest on ESPNU and Danny Kannell is as bad a broadcaster as he was a quarterback.
