  1. We CANNOT go down there and get our asses handed to us. Not again... I'm not stupid, you can look at their recruits of recent years, and our recruits and know they clearly have a talent advantage. But for once in the Seth Littrell era (aside from Arkansas) we have to punch above our weight in a big game. We NEVER show up to these games, we get our doors blown off in bowl games, and aside from the La Tech loss at home in 2018 when we were 4-0, none of the losses have been close. Given that we have been so abysmal in these games, surely the pendulum has to swing. I am oddly confident we are due for some positive regression this weekend.
  2. Interesting to see Enoch Jackson and Roderick Brown playing together early in the 2nd quarter, given that they are both freshmen and so are the Murphy twins if they start to flash we might really have something at DL for the first time in the SL era. Damn, bad throw there.
  3. How long was the 4th down we just kicked the field goal on there is no marker on ESPN3 for some reason.
  4. Clearly you feel strongly about your this, there are 110 replies to this topic and 42 are from you.. We all want the best players on the field, we all want the Mean Green to win every game, we are on the same page. But calling people homers, starting your replies with LOL, suggesting that people who disagree with your opinions need to be put out to pasture isn't the best way to go about things.
  5. Couldn't decide on one player, I think any of these players below could have a much bigger role than expected and be the surprise player(s) of the year. DB- Thorton/Davis/Rucker/Crosby LB- Jordan Brown/ Jacobi Johnson DL- Rausaw, Kalvin Hutchings OL- ? WR- D. Brown, Khatib Lyles RB - Keith Jackson

So I could not have been more wrong, they really did make a big jump. The Mean Green pessimist in me that saw us not win more than 3 games 9 out of my first ten years as a fan simply wanted to find a reason for us not to be successful in 2021. We went from 109th to 72nd in one year in power success rate, and went from 109th to 16th in stuff rate in one season, I deserve some crow for my post above. Here is an explanation of the OL stats and they are in order above, along with our rank in each category. Line Yards per Carry: For 2018, we are experimenting with a new definition for college line yardage based on film study and generalization. Instead of the ALY figure FO used for the NFL, this one is tighter: the line gets credit for rushing yardage between 0-3 yards (instead of 0-4) and 50% credit for yards 4-8 (instead of 5-10). Anything over 8 yards is quantified as a highlight opportunity, and credit goes to the runner. As with the pro definition, lost yardage still counts for 125%. (Garbage time is filtered out for all line yardage averages.) Standard Downs Line Yards per Carry: The raw, unadjusted per-carry line yardage for a team on standard downs (first down, second-and-7 or fewer, third-and-4 or fewer, fourth-and-4 or fewer). Passing Downs Line Yards per Carry: The same unadjusted averages for rushing on passing downs. Opportunity Rate: The percentage of carries (when four yards are available) that gain at least four yards, i.e. the percentage of carries in which the line does its job, so to speak. Power Success Rate: This is the same as on the NFL side -- percentage of runs on third or fourth down, two yards or less to go, that achieved a first down or touchdown. Stuff Rate: Same as STUFFED on the NFL side -- percentage of carries by running backs that are stopped at or before the line of scrimmage. Pass-blocking stats Sack Rate: Unadjusted sack rate for all non-garbage time pass attempts. Standard Downs Sack Rate: Unadjusted sack rate for standard downs pass attempts. Passing Downs Sack Rate: Unadjusted sack rate for passing downs pass attempts.
  7. True, if anyone has a PFF College subscription I doubt the metrics have us as a top CUSA unit. I think last season just looked a lot better because we were so used to seeing our QB get ragdolled that semi competent pass blocking made it look like a huge improvement occurred.
  8. I think we are way too bullish on our offensive line outlook for this year. We have really yet to prove we can move the ball on anyone other than cellar dwellers. I think there is more talent on the OL than at any time in the SL era but our best offensive games were against UTEP, MTSU, and HBU. We scored 35 against SMU(two late TD's) 31 against LT & USM but those were ten point losses and 28 against App State. I don't think we will be bad up front but to call this a top 5 CUSA unit or think of it as a strength heading in to 2021 is over the top in my opinion.
  9. There is no reason for optimism. He is a Mavericks legend but his actual game management skills are god awful. He is not known as someone who develops players either. Below is a real quote from him after telling Khris Middleton to purposely miss a FT up by 4 with 1.4 seconds left. “We talked about it as he walked to the free throw line,” Kidd said. “My first response was to miss the second one. We’ll take the bet of someone making it from the other side of the floor. … If we did make that free throw, our luck they get it in-bounds at half-court and we foul the 3-point shooter and it’s a four-point play. We’ll take our chances with them heaving a full-court shot.”
  10. So the connection making all of this possible is David Hill, who was a RB/FB at the Univ. of Arizona in 2011, Littrells last year there. Apparently he graduated from Desert Pines, played for the Jaguars, and I read a story that he would collect gloves from the Jaguars after practices and mail them back to his high school to make sure every player had gear. He's also been instrumental in opening doors for a lot of kids who might not have the opportunities without his connections. Sounds like one hell of a guy, and a great connection to have. I would bet Littrell has him in mind for a future coaching gig, if he's interested. And yeah, Luke's results over the last two classes have been incredible and if there is anyone who deserves a raise after a 4 win season it's him.
  11. It's tough for me to be harsh on KP because he tore his meniscus, got very little recovery time, then got no practice and by the time he came back everyone was fine with Luka having a 35%+ usage rate. Efficient or not, Luka in the playoffs was doing the exact same thing people got on Harden for years ago, being far too ball dominant. However KP has no one but himself to blame for why his post game is non existent, why he gets shut down by much smaller defenders, and his overall attitude. Also, yes, fire Donnie Nelson, like yesterday. I don't care that he wanted Giannis 8 years ago, there is no other GM who could miss as much as he has and still be employed. Just an abysmal track record for the most part. I would also fire Rick if forced to make a decision though I can see the case for bringing him back as well. I just HATE his reluctance of giving younger players a chance. They aren't going to develop in the G League or at the end of the bench.
  12. Very cool! Thanks for all the info and coverage both of you guys provide for us. Man we had almost zero coverage, zero recruiting updates, and very little information just 5 years ago, glad that has changed.
  13. The most insane thing about a random WWF video from the 90s on youtube I notice is the sheer difference in crowd excitement and engagement in 1999 with no smart phones vs 2021. 20,000 people going ballistic all so their home made signs could be seen for maybe half a second on TV. Just a stark difference in attention span from then to the instant gratification era of today.
  14. Stone Cold, The Rock, Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boys, The Godfather, and some more I can't remember. Every once in a while I will watch a video from the attitude era (late 90s) and wonder why in the hell so many parents including mine were letting me watch this stuff. Not the fighting or violence part, the over the top adult storylines that accompanied it were simply too much. Crazy the ratings both WWF and WCW used to get during the Monday night wars.
  15. DRAFTED BY THE SUPER BOWL CHAMPS THE BUCCANEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. 15 picks in to the 4th round and still no Darden. Think we hear his name called soon hope I'm not still saying that at the start of round 6.
  17. I honestly couldn't tell you because once he was sworn in I told myself I would stop giving politics any of my time I've muted most of it from my timeline on twitter. Admittedly there have been a few things that have made me shake my head but I don't know enough. So I am the wrong one to ask if he's done a good or bad job because I have gone back to not caring about politics again more or less as I did before 2016. I respect that, I really do. I am Texan born and raised I lean more right than left but like I said I'm waiting to see what direction the party goes in. Sorry If I steered this topic in the wrong direction please don't suspend me I'm done lol.
  18. I am happy we have a president who's not getting so triggered by what people say about him and going to twitter to vent about it like a tween who got turned down by her crush. 25,000+ tweets over four years. That is an outrageously unhealthy amount of screen time for anyone, let alone the freaking president. I am curious what direction the Republican party goes in. If they can restore some honor with a respectable candidate they could easily win back people like myself whos beliefs lean more Republican but were completely turned off by the Qanon takeover. That Psyop has turned a lot of people I had great respect for in to complete nutjobs. And it was birthed in an online forum where like minded frustrated incels gathered, just crazy the impact it's had on the average joe who leans republican and has a facebook account. At least people on both sides seem to be a little more civil now.
  19. He can definitely play at this level he will likely pile up the offers over the next few weeks hope we land him.
  20. Wasn't it mentioned the Cowboys were one of the only teams that hasn't had contact with him? I also looked and couldn't find which teams he's had virtual meetings with or if teams are permitted a certain amount of those meeting like they were with in person meetings in the past. I really don't care to be honest, just ON EVERYTHING if the Eagles draft him I am going to be sick.
  21. Ceiling: Late 3rd compensatory pick Floor: 6th round, unless there's something we don't know I don't see any way he goes undrafted.
  22. I think our offensive line should be okay next season, but can we all be honest about the competition we faced last season? I don't think it's a certainty that we'll have a really good OL next season, and this only adds to that skepticism for me.
  23. Their reach is global, I'm not sure where you could live to avoid that. The cartel that took control after El Chapos arrest is different than any before. The way they not only control Jalisco (and the one highway that goes north) but continue to expand and take over other areas is pretty scary actually. Their lust for control knows no bounds they even went after avocado farmers to get a piece of that pie. Drugs go north to feed America's insatiable habits, guns and cash go south so they can wage wars and it will only get worse. I don't know what the answer is but I can't think of a bigger waste of money other than NASA that has had billions of dollars poured in to it than the war on drugs.
