  1. It usually takes someone about 6 months to get acclimated to their new position. Wren is just now getting settled with everything. He also needs to appropriately evaluate staff, not just fire everyone. And even if he has plans to turn over most of the staff, you cannot and should not do it all at the same time. Additionally, he came in as football season and basketball season were just getting under way. Even if you don't have full confidence in your staff, starting over during a busy time of year doesn't seem prudent. I would look for changes to start coming in the coming months. Basketball season is winding down, he has had time to evaluate staff, and knows the lay of the land and policies that are in place that he has to navigate. As far as Benford, the fact that he doesn't have an extension in place at this point in the season means that he isn't back next year. If there was any thought that we might bring him back, we would not allow his contract to expire. He isn't going to be here after this season, the only question now is how much longer will they let him be on the sidelines.
  2. How ever many you need for interviews.
  3. Who says that they were in open conflict? They might get along fine, just may not feel tight knit. If Perry just didn't feel like he fit in with the rest of the staff, he could still have gotten along just fine. No reason to believe that anyone is the bad guy here.
  4. Or, for the sake of argument, no one is an asshole and their coaching styles weren't complimentary and there was never a full level of comfort between all parties. Nobody was bad, just everyone didn't quite fit together.
  5. I don't believe that Hall won a bowl game. We won in '02over Cincinnatti with Smith as the QB, but lost in '01 (Colorado State), '03 (Memphis), and '04 (Southern Miss) with Hall as the QB. He did lead the team to three bowl games, which is something that no other QB can claim at NT, so there is that. But unless I am remembering something wrong, no W for Hall in a bowl game.
  6. In case anyone is curious, USA Today has us ranked at 83 in their final rankings.
  7. Yep. It is silly to make a compromise in how a champion determined for 3 or 4 teams. If ND and BYU want to stay independent, fine. They should just not expect to have a shot at a title.
  8. I think a 10 team playoff is not terrible. All 10 conference champs, first round is the 4 lowest seeds playing while all others get a bye and then play based on seeding. This would make the conference championships a defacto first round. No choosing at large and the subsequent complaining. Win your conference, and you get a shot, end of story.
  9. There are a few throw away lines that reference things being discontinued and such. We don't ever see in atmosphere fighters again in the next three movies, so hard to say if there is a continuity issue there. Similar with the troopers, we don't see special ops or much ground troops in the same environments, so not sure that qualifies. Others have done much more research than I have put together analysis on this stuff, so I am sure that info is out there if you are curious.
  10. He sat up front, but never touched the controls. He even told the pilot in the third act that he had to keep the ship ready to go because he was their only way out. They kind of had to kill everyone for the sake of continuity. Heroes from the biggest victory to that point never show up again? They even established some of the pilots from ANH in the movie, so if these characters don't show again, it becomes glaring. Besides, it was a suicide mission and they knew it. It was a nice change to not get the Hollywood ending, something that Star Wars has done a lot in the past. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, just trying to add some details and color that I noticed when I watched it. I enjoyed it, but it did feel odd to have a Star Wars movie that wasn't about the Skywalkers. I am not sure that they made a great movie, but I definitely feel they made a very good one. It was fun and told a story that directly moved to the core story and is basically the first paragraph of the opening scroll from ANH. The characters were a little under baked, but not so horribly. They could definitely have done a better job, but I think that is less derived from the effort to develop characters and more from my biggest complaint with the movie, pacing. They moved so quickly that any character moments were so fleeting that you missed out if you weren't looking for them. It just felt like they had a lot to do, not enough time to do it, so they moved as quickly as possible.
  11. Not going to go through everything in your post, but this one begs to be responded to. When did they establish that either character could pilot a ship? It's not like they could just hop in, hot wire it and get out of there. Besides, even if they get a ship, they just get caught on the way out.
  12. Took the train last time and plan to again. It wasn't crowded on the way to the game, but packed on the way back. Saves you on parking.
  13. I really don't see how he keeps his job, but I also don't see what letting him go accomplishes. We probably don't win any more games than we otherwise would have, but may lose more. As was pointed out, there is not really a coach to turn to to take over. I would guess that the decision has been made that he will not continue to be the coach here, but Baker is not likely to say so until the ax finally falls. If I were betting, I would guess that we do it in February. It happens at a time when the season has already been decided and puts us at the front of the line to sell the program to potential coaches. We can begin to have agent conversations and get ahead of other programs. I thought that there was a possibility since we had already let go of Peterson and Mac. RV didn't want to fire all three of his revenue sports coaches in a year since his own job was on shaky ground and that would give additional ammunition, as if much was needed. I was hopeful, but I also was (sadly) not overly surprised.
  14. So to make the fans feel better is the reason?
  15. Does firing him now do something that firing him closer to the end of the season doesn't? Just don't see the point in shaking things up now if there is no benefit besides making us feel good. I don't see the team being more competitive in conference play given how we have played to this point, so its not like he has any real chance of keeping his job.
  16. Ohio State thinks conference championships are over rated.
