  1. Marketing is an expense on a balance sheet, so it never makes money. The idea of marketing is to enable sales and raise product awareness.
  2. They are referring to his talk. Dodge was all about recruiting winners because winners...win...or something and he talked that talk a lot. As coaches, the two are not comparable.
  3. That is not as much stuff as you think. A TV, game system, and a computer can get you there pretty quick. That doesn't include games and/or movies one might have. None of those things are out of place in a dorm room.
  4. Picking the closest opponents in MWC and the furthest opponents in CUSA is a bit disingenuous, don't you think? Why not look at the furthest opponents in MWC to compare? We can also compare the closest teams in each conference to understand what we are giving up.
  5. Probably right. There may be some that have not yet renewed that you can pick up during the event or people want to upgrade their seats. Basketball tickets could be sold during the event as well. If they can pick up a couple folks at each event, it is probably worth it.
  6. This is the first one since WB took over, so the format may be different. At the least, I expect more season ticket talk than there has been in the past.
  7. If it is late night, then it is not prime time...
  8. If we don't know who brought this out to the forefront, can they really be called an "attention whore"?
  9. But with those start times, you lose most of the local market that we actually reside in. I don't remember going to the office and ever hearing folks around the water cooler talking about the great late game that Nevada played against UNLV. Even when TCU was in the MWC, nobody watched their late games, they just knew about the outcome the next day.
  10. There is already a thread for uniform talk...
  11. Yep, this class is going to be awful based on three committed players extremely early in cycle. Maybe next year?
  12. You take helicopters to visit recruits.
  13. USC is not called a directional school because that is a pejorative term reserved for schools not in the P5. The designation is used against a lot of schools and has absolutely nothing to do with academic performance because those using it have no idea what the academic performance of any of the schools actually is.
  14. A lot of coaches do exactly that for just the scenario you mention just in case that great transfer comes along. And yes, they can release a player. That usually comes in a comment that it was a mutual decision or something like that. Releasing players can impact RPI if the player is not in good academic standing when they transfer. Scenario 1 only applies, if my memory serves, in cases where the player has yet to enroll in the university. If they are there for a year, they lose a year if they transfer. The only immediate availability that I am aware of are grad transfers. Scenario 2 is what happens most every time. The school has to grant a release in order for them to play elsewhere. You usually hear of a couple of instances every year where the school doesn't want to grant a release. The school almost always plays ignorant to the situation and caves, but it does happen.
