  1. I guess you haven’t seen any clips from Saturday, then?
  2. Lol on #9. I mean, based on Saturday, I too, think we look like an FCS team.
  3. No, sir. Stop it. Skladany coached top 10 defenses at, at least, three different schools. Not knocking our players under him, but he did it everywhere he went. He was a great coach. Carry on...
  4. How many threads do we need on here calling for a buyout before we reach this bar you’ve set? For the record, I’m with you...and I think most on here are. We’ve seen teams like this here from 2007-2008 and 2015. We’re probably the worst team in the country. You can pick out any number of problems but it started unraveling back in November 2018. Last year was a disaster after Littrell left, but didn’t. Then he fires both coordinators over the offseason and overpays to hire the demoted ex-DC from Kansas. Kansas’ DC!!! We’ve seen this before when Mac hired Cosh. I don’t care how good the offense is, they can’t and won’t overcome a defense that gives up 635 yards a game and 48pts per game. It is not like we haven’t seen this before...and that’s why it should be easier for us to recognize it for what it is and make the necessary changes. Pull the plug.
  5. This. 700 yards given up. Schmoo did to us what we did to HBU. This is Dodge 2.0. Pitiful excuse for a defense out there last night. This is a 1 or 2 win team. Inexcusable for the money we are spending on this staff....especially in these times when scrutiny around budgets is only going to intensify.
  6. I think we need to get out to a big early lead. Sadly, I’m thinking that only happens if we limit Siggers touches and get Torrey and Addaway involved early. He just didn’t look like he had any burst last week. I think we stay loyal, and start slow... schmoo - 34 UNT - 17
  7. The SBC gets less than or equal to what we get in tv money and most of their schools have smaller athletic budgets than the schools in CUSA. I just think this is all excuses. We can help ourselves by winning, getting ranked, beating P5s. MWC had Boise and TCU lift up their visibility years ago. Now the SBC has App St getting ranked every year. It creates interest for every school that has them scheduled. Interest leads to dollars. We were on a decent trajectory a few years ago to be that school in CUSA, but fell off. FAU was close, but never got ranked. Playing in the worst division in football has its advantages...our schedule is stacked with easy wins. We just need to capitalize on the built in advantages we have and quit blaming everyone else. Just win and North Texas, by itself, can lift up the perception of CUSA. It only takes one school to get it started. UNT can and should be that school.
  8. I don’t know why everyone wants to blame the conference commissioner for everything. It seems to me that the leadership can’t do squat when all (almost all) of your member institutions suck at most sports. When is the last time CUSA had a weekend like what the SBC just pulled off?
  9. Didn’t realize that they lost their Graham Harrell. Maybe we’ve got a shot.
  10. I had to listen to our game against S. Miss last year, so this is really the first long look I’ve had at Abraham. He sounded like the second coming of Mason Fine in the game against us. He absolutely torched us. Now having watched him in a full game he is really slow to make a decision and get rid of the ball. They have a new OC this year, so maybe that’s part of it? It doesn’t help that they have zero run game.
  11. No offense to those guys, but I can’t remember a single oline being “good” since Littrell got here. Maybe there were some individuals who were better on paper, but if this line plays better together I wouldn’t find that hard to believe.
  12. Yeah, thanks for punching us all in the jewels. Again. Thanks a lot.
  13. Littrell did run a two QB system at UNC for an entire season...and got them 10 wins. Not saying this is the same situation, but the man does have experience. Personally, this looks more like an extended preseason move to see both in game, rather than a plan to rotate QBs all year....but I’m no insider.
  14. I only see 3 wins. HBU, Charlotte, UTEP. I just don’t have a lot of faith in these QBs until we see them actually stepping up in games. If Bean starts all year and has not made a dramatic improvement this could be a 1 win season. Our offense was absolutely anemic when Fine was out last year.
  15. On the contrary, those oline numbers are anemic and probably the biggest reason why we won’t. Championships are won in the trenches.
  16. HELL YES!!! Best look we have ever sported, impo.
  17. Aune, and it is not close. The thing that worries me is that Bean has looked bad (really, really bad) in the limited time I’ve seen him in live game action while Aune has looked better (a lot more poised, specifically)....but Bean kept getting named the #2 and is still in the running for the #1. Either Bean is a stud in practice, we haven’t seen enough of Aune to be equally worried, or the coaches are playing mind games on these two.
  18. Exhibit A is Mason Fine. Some unknown, under recruited kid is always going to be out there. I’ll always root for that type of a person over one who is given every opportunity but still finds a way to not be grateful or willing to work for it. That article is spot on, too. Tired of all the entitlement driven attitudes that we see everywhere.
  19. The halls aren’t going to look like that everywhere. Where I’m at only 44% opted for face to face (in school) this fall. The numbers for Frisco schools were made public, and they are all over the map...but most schools would be less than 50% capacity. I have my doubts that we’re going to be allowed to do anything other than virtual school this fall, though.
  20. Seems to me, from reading just the articles linked, that both groups have a few bad apples involved. Kick em both off campus. Your free speech is protected, but your right to use the UNT name is not. If these kids want to spread hate, threaten violence and act like idiots, go create a group outside of the UNT (ie student funded) umbrella.
  21. Give me: DL Secondary RB. If we have an elite DL and secondary, I’m thinking we can get by with average LBer play. Also, I liked Litrell’s offense better when we had Jeff Wilson running, catching and blocking in it.
  22. Best home game atmospheres I’ve been a part of: #1- 2018 LaTech. The NORTH - TEXAS chant on third down, followed by the sack...incredible. #2- 2003 Baylor. Booger fumble return for TD shook the stadium #3- 2002 NMSU. Conference championship, close game, another Booger fumble recovery late in that one while band played in the middle of the home side stands. Was the largest home crowd I’d seen to that point for a conference game. #4- 2013 Rice. The Stand
  23. I think he has earned it. Last year was a disaster. The decision to so completely revamp the offense backfired. The hope is that he was planning ahead and designing an offense around a personnel strategy that will pay off down the road. We wasted a danged Heisman campaign, though. How many times are we gonna see something like that in the future at UNT? Not only that, but we’re now talking about the “expected blowout loss to smu” like it’s a foregone conclusion?! It’s just an unbelievable fall from where we were in 2018. However, many of the things that got DD are rearing their heads, again. Staff poached like crazy the past few years. He did well to replace the losses early on, and time will tell if he’s managed to do it this year...but on paper this staff is not as good as those first two or three. Even with a budget near the top of G5, we still have to deal with poaching every single year.
