  1. San Jose St. & LaTech are tied at 14 in Ruston coming up on half time. This is a program that's considering dropping football all togethor.
  2. Noticed this while scanning the scoreboard at work. Would this be considered good coaching for Ok. St or bad coaching for Texas? Possibly Texas is just in a letdown phase and will bring out the big guns after the half?
  3. As a former Offensive Lineman in college and high school I can give a little insight on these blocking schemes: Zone blocking is the best scheme for quick, smaller lines. Lots of combo blocks & cutoff blocks are used. To run Man-on-Man schemes you have to have strength, power, and size. Also, in Man-on-Man schemes it is VERY VERY important to have offensive tackles that are talented enough to consistantly block smaller & faster defensive ends. Personally, I loved using the zone blocking scheme. Made my life easier. Just to clear things up, teams don't zone block every single play. Some plays require man-on-man and some do not. But the different schemes are used as base blocking schemes from one team to the next. It's hard to say which scheme NT should use. IMO, they should stick with Zone blocking primarily due to their OT's. The offensive tackle on one side is way undersized(unless he's been permantly replaced) and the other is average at best. NT's best lineman are both gaurds. Regardless of blocking style, NT won't have success running when the opposing D has ZERO respect for the passing game. I can't stress this enough. The pathetic play at QB is the main cause for the anemic running game.
  4. Without a doubt, it's losing faith in this team to keep within 50 points.
  5. Agreed 100%. Either scenario would be exciting.
  6. I agree with you. We should not disregard being SBC champs. My post was steering towards the notion of NT finding a way to win it. Sun Belt members should hope(and expect) the conference is good enough to NOT allow a bad NT team to take the crown for a 5th straight year.
  7. Have I ever played football?? I did and at the collegiate level. And how about you?
  8. This would be a legitimate argument if NT had even a particle of the success some of these schools have had over the years. The problem here is that NT wants to get where these schools are at in terms of their football programs. When that happens, you'll gain permission to use your argument.
  9. Absolutely. If he somehow guides this team to another SBC title that, in itself, shows how poor the SBC really is and has nothing to do with DD's coaching ability.
  10. This is very sad. This isn't pee wee football. These are grown men playing. Adjustments should be made.
  11. Anything under 50 is a flat out gift. Seriously, LSU -50 is as close to a "lock" as you can get.
  12. A change, IMO, would show NT's seriousness in keeping the football program moving to a high level. The Belt has a history of mediocrity in Division 1A and now NT is going to finish near the bottom after 4 straight championships. DD "haters" aren't chanting win the Belt, just keep the team/program moving in a positive direction. Now I ask you, what have you seen so far this year that shows continued improvement? What does losing the first four games last year, then steam rolling through the Belt, and finally getting smashed in the NO Bowl tell you about DD? NT doesn't have to spend half a million dollars on a coach. It would be nice as NT could go after a reputable person. The current staff is not worth what NT is paying them, PERIOD. Justifying what NT pays to our head coaches with "well, that's all we can afford so we must be happy" is flat out B#LL $Hit.
  13. Either that or slip in a little Mad Dog 20/20. That'll surely get Dickey off the sidelines.
  14. I say NT should offer them all scholarships. Instant success!
  15. Top priorities this offseason: Top rated JuCo QB Offensive philosophy shift from 70% run & 30% pass to 55% run & 45% pass. If this can be done, I'll be confident that an improved season will occur.
  16. He touched on the fact you can do "More with Less" with this type of offense. That's what schools like BG and Boise have been able to do running an offense like this. Leach's system is a bit extreme, IMO, but anything that gives an undermanned offense an edge is a good thing. UNT wants to run smashmouth football but don't have the personnel to run it consistantly against opponents of equal talent or better.
  17. How about Mike Singletary? His name popped up few times before this season when Baylor was expecting Guy Morris to tank another season.
  18. That sounds about right. That 7 point spread was way off, IMO.
