  1. It's pathetic that UNT is not mentioned in that article. How sad that utsa, fiu, fau and latech are seen as a more viable candidates. FREAKING UNBELIEVABLE! I guess our leaders are making sure everyone concerned knows WE are not interested in leaving the Belt because we have nothing to offer another league.
  2. Hope we can hang on to you and see you reach 300 at UNT!
  3. I hope Coach Dan didn't come to UNT thinking that winning the Sun Belt would be a piece of cake compared to winning the Big 12. True you can not compare the two but the Belt has some very good football coaches and it seems on paper that some of them are out recruiting UNT. Winning and competing in the Sun Belt won't be easy as this league is getting better all the time. Too bad that it looks as if the Belt might take a hit in the realignment thats going on and just at a time when I believe things were beginning to look up for the Belt. I honestly thought the new stadium would have a major impact on the program even though many warned that Ford Stadium didn't really help smu, at least not with attendance. Apogee certainly stopped the bleeding and building it was a must regardless. Now I hope that being the only large public University in the DFW, and several conferences not represented in the area will help lift us up. Guess we will all be finding out soon. Just my opinion and thoughts.
  4. Well for those of us who complain that the Athletic Department isn't communicating with us this video proves that actions speak louder than words. Although I might not agree with some of the decisions or actions Coach Dan made over the last season I feel very comfortable that he has and is communicating to this team and staff exactly what it takes to get to the "highest level". I believe these kids believe it and want it and are willing to pay the price to achieve it as a team. I think these kids want to prove something. The Real Deal! If this team and staff can continue on during the off season with this kind of desire, dedication, determination and work ethic I believe that we could start selling out Apogee sooner than many may think. Powerful video! Looks like a BCS team, hey? Can't wait until next season. Go Mean Green!!!!
  5. Didn't Trilli do the same thing years ago and when it didn't come to fruition many of his recruits harbored resentment for believing they had been misled.
  6. I don't see RV leaving. USM may be home but he has invested way too much time and energy and overcome way too many obstacles overs the years to walk away now when the payoff may be just around the corner. I also think that UNT offers so much more potential than USM. Opinion. If he does I wish him the best and thank him for all he has done for UNT.
  7. Moving on. It truely is unfortunate but hey no one ever said it was easy being a Mean Green fan. Right? My only hope is that these two kids get focused and take pride in their academics and that they come back strong in the Fall and that the players on the team will continue to carry on the tradition of Mean Green Basketball while they are away. This too shall pass. GO Mean Green!
  8. Ok. But if what you're saying is true than what kind of example would members of the athletic department be setting for our young student/ athletes?
  9. Good Post! One of my questions out there is if all the signs were there, twitter etc.) then why were they still playing? Was it so they could get a taste of how truely special this team could be if they handle their academics? This team has the potential to go places hundreds of schools can only dream about. Up until now UNT included.
  10. "As for the mentors/tutors for the players...they're there to offer assistance but players can refuse it if they want. And even if they get help...mentors and tutors aren't there to take their tests."
  11. Thats true but then why are we wasting money paying people to help and quide them in their academics? What responsiblity do they have? Were they qualified? I think this is a lot bigger than some may think. I think that all of us are in emoitional shock over what the loss of those two players and how that loss will affect the teams chances to make a huge statement than asking themselves as donors what the hell is going on in some of those offices at the Athletic Center. Huge BLACK EYE for this Athletic Department and consequently the University of North Texas, the fans and even moreso the men's basketball program. Just the truth.
  12. I will be "very surprised" if we ever see Jones or Williams wear the green and white uniform of UNT again. It has never been easy being a Mean Green fan. After 42 years I'm getting tired.
  13. Good luck! What you get is a letter by our President praising tcu and smu on their advancement into major conferences.
  14. Yeah, lets make it perfectly clear to all the local recruits that we are not in a major conference but if you want to play in one you might try smu or tcu. I am losing total faith in this Athletic Department and Administration. What was Rawlins thinking....oh he wasn't.
  15. This is probably going to happen!! Yes, best prepare yourselves meangreenies. Lets just hope that CUSA goes for both the Dallas and San Antonio markets. If utsa gets in and we don't it will sting more than going back down to D1AA in the eighties. In fact, if this does indeed happen we might as well go back down to the lower division after cleaning out the current Athletic Office. Just my opinion.
  16. UTSA targeted UNT from the beginning in the food chain and you can pretty much tell that they sense the kill. UNT looks weak and timid. Unless something is going on we don't know about..................BEEP BEEP!!!!!
  17. Please know and understand that I'm not in any way trying to be disrepectful because I appreciate the time you took to respond but in all honesty your post is nothing more then a longwinded excuse.
  18. But a Roadrunner just ran right pass our Beloved UNT! Understand one thing, there is absolutely no excuse for only 17,000 at last nights game, PERIOD! Stop making excuses!
  19. Good grief Kram. Please don't quote me and then write an essay that has nothing to do with what I said.
  20. Good Grief, where did anyone on this thread mention anything about "falling out fb football?" Maybe I missed it. As for implying that we might end up in D1AA, if you aren't playing in an AQ league after this all settles down you are essentially playing in the lower class. Call it what you want, I just chose to call it D1AA football. If calling it D1A football makes you feel better then call it D1A. The fact remains that the door is going to close shut after this shake up and those left out will never be able to play for a national title at the "highest level." Not that the system is fair now. And yes the two schools to our immediate south will use that very fact against us when it comes to recruiting. SMU will haul in upwards of 10,000,000 a year in TV money being in the BE as compared to about 1.5 million with CUSA. Think UNT can compete against that money and exposure in our own back yard. Nope. TCU and the B12? Nope. Better hope RV and Dr.Rawlings know something we don't because this will be disastrous for UNT. Think we don't get our fair share of local sports time now? You just wait! Fire away!
  21. That fact that UNT is seldom if at all mentioned in any realignment scenarios whether on other forums or in various newspapers around the nation is cause for concern. It is as if we are nonexistent. We may very well have the nicest stadium at the D1AA level. Oh well. Life isn't fair.
