Good Freaking ... the moaning starts. Its like some of you sit back and wait for something to be done/said so you can give us your "expert" opinion on where RV went wrong. UNT just hired the HC from an ACC school and you cannot find anything but the negative

The ACC is a strong basketball conference, is it not?

We just hired a HEAD COACH, not an ASSISSTANT, from a strong basketball conference, did we not?

And people are complaining because.........?

Just wears you out with these folks, doesn't it. Always the same from always the same crowd...looks like a very nice hire...out of the ACC, lots of experience, etc., etc. Welcome Coach...let's keep it moving forward. Welcome to the great Mean green nation....please pay the negative folks no mind as they try to wear you out as well........the vast majority of the Mean green nation are very happy to have you on the team!

I know Coach Pete personally.... congratulations to both UNT and Coach. Not only does he offer experience but will bring much needed stability. Raquel knows many girls from the WF team and never heard about any complaints.

Great find!

We got one coach from the ACC. How about Mike Krzyzewski for head Men's coach? Could happen...

Dino Guadio is looking for a job... WF let him go because he couldn't get past the second round in the NCAA tourney... even though he got IN every year he coached.

Interesting points:

He has coached at the collegiate level with both mens and womens teams

He seems to be great at rebuilding terrible programs.

Petersen joined the Golden Gophers in 1999 after three seasons as the head coach of the TCU women's basketball program from 1996-99. Inheriting a program that went 3-52 in the two years prior to his arrival, Petersen guided the Horned Frogs to the program's first-ever winning season, first-ever conference tournament victory and a then school record 16 wins in 1999. In his first full season with the Horned Frogs, he landed a recruiting class ranked in the top 25 by the Blue Star Report. Petersen was also instrumental as TCU raised its average attendance from 250 to 1,880 -- an increase of more than 750 percent.

Prior to taking over at TCU, Petersen was the women's head coach at New Mexico State University from 1992-96. Similar to TCU, he inherited a program that went 30-32 the previous two seasons and did not return a single starter for the 1992-93 season. In his four seasons with the Aggies, Petersen recorded three consecutive 20-win seasons and compiled an 81-38 (.681) overall record and a 53-19 (.736) record in Big West Conference games. Petersen, who led the Aggies to their first-ever Big West Conference title in 1995, was responsible for the development of 1995-96 All-American and WNBA player, Anita Maxwell. Not only did he sign a top 25 recruiting class, but Petersen also helped the Aggies lead the Big West Conference in attendance all four years

No kidding --- has North Texas ever been to the second round? Pretty awesome credentials...Wake may regret this one..

Looks like a safe choice. Not sure he has the upside some of the others like Danials have, however he also doesn't have a big risk factor. I think RV is being sure he doesn't hire an unkown like Dodge or Stephens that could easily backfire on him.

From his pictures, he looks like he has plenty of fire.
