I was driving by campus today and I saw a fourth floor being added to the new dorm on the corner of Eagle and Ave D. In front of Clark Hall. I think it might be a 4 or 5 story dorm, great idea by whoever thought of this idea.

I did hear that the Business Bldg will be the next construction item to begin..I heard it will be over 200,000 sqft and among the top one's in America.. To give you an idea $50 million is the expected cost of the bldg. Any ideas where it will be placed on campus.

Stadium news updates anyone????

GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: UNT will embark on an integrated, focused fundraising campaign, representing three focus areas:

$60 million for a new stadium

$20 million for a new business building

$71 million for academic initiatives

Half of the target total goal of $160 million is allocated to capital projects- bringing in the new stadium and a business building to campus and half to transform existing academic programs and areas from "good to great" with the first step to identify academic initiatives that will make up the integrated capital campaign. Depts. have been called for case statements proposing incentives to be included in this endeavor. So far COBA $14 million; College of Music $20 million; College of Education $23 million; College of Visual Arts $14 million

Lawson & Assoc. consulting group is presently conducting external interviews through December. Results will be presented to multiple groups in the 3rd & 4th weeks in January. UNT will use the findings to see which projects have the highest probability of success and final presentation will be Feb. 6th ---per the Office of Development @ NTE BOD mtg. yesterday. Where is this 50 million coming from to build the business building. UT has the McCombs School of Business who Red McCombs donated 50 million to build. Texas A&M has a large business school which is named after Mays of Clear Channel Communications who contributed a large amount.

Those buildings at A&M and UT-Austin were paid for by the state and supplemented through donations by the benefactors that you listed.

The business building at North Texas will also be built with state finances. Like most state colleges in Texas, North Texas receives funding through state appropriations. The UT and A&M systems pull directly from our states Permanent University Fund.

The North Texas business building will be $50 million state financed and $20 million privately funded.

Since there currently aren't any plans to integrate academic facilities into the structure, the $60 million cost for the stadium will have to be entirely privately funded through donations and student activities fees.

Both projects are expensive, but both are necessary and extremely long overdue.
