  1. Cue Quoner This should be a non-issue. "Under Armor. How should I direct your call ?" "Yes. This is the University of North Texas Athletic Department. We'd like to order some warm ups for our players." " OK. What color ? Well, duh. I guess you would want green since you guys are the Mean Green. Right ?" " Well, no. I think we'd rather order black. I'm told the players really don't like green and black is, well, it's one of our alternative colors." "We used to use blue and orange, but now we use black." " Seems kinda bizarre to me, but I just take orders around here. Thanks for calling Under Armor and hook 'em. That's you guys isn't it ?"
  2. or sell a dolop of cement for 50c. By the way, where did the "cents" key go ?
  3. Lazer, My heart almost dropped out of my chest. I kept staring at your post until I realized "j/k" was code for "just kidding." Whew.
  4. I just rolled my son out of bed to vote. Another YES ! GO MEAN GREEN
  5. Not that I can vote, but what are the mechanics of next week's vote? My son is a senior at NT and I want him to vote first thing Monday morning. And I also want to tell students I meet that I think will vote for the stadium issue where to go vote. GO STADIUM GO MEAN GREEN
  6. I wonder if the "uproar" about the athletic fee increase will bring out any more students to see what this football thing is all about ? Wouldn't it be funny if they came, enjoyed themselves, and voted yes because of the experience ? GO MEAN GREEN
  7. I don't want to play a 1-AA team for the reasons UNT90 pointed out. But, if we do play a 1-AA team, is should only be at Fouts or whatever the new stadium is called. There is no reason to play a home and home with a 1-AA. Our fans should have every opportunity to watch the Mean Green at home. If it's a "sure win" then it needs to be before the home crowd. I hope to see everyone Saturday GO MEAN GREEN
  8. Looks good. I do agree the "no increase until Fall 2001" needs to be bigger, but that's just me. What size ad ? 1/4 page ? 1/2 page ? Full ? GO STADIUM GO MEAN GREEN
  9. Ahh yes. I remember when basketball players wore shorts that didn't extend beyond the knees. Or when one could play basketball without any tattoos.
  10. Funny King DL would mention this topic. My wife brought up the fact (?) that we started our downhill slide when the tortillas were banned from the stadium. She thought they were funny. As for copying Texas Tech, that's what makes it a funny bit. Remember, we got tortillas thrown at us all through that game. Ended up winning, and threw them back at the Tech fans. Ahhh. Memories. 11. The Lab School is / was located on the North East corner of Highland and Avenue C. The East side of this building, by the way, is the sitte of the football field prior to Fouts Field. It too had a track around the field.
  12. Great idea. Post this on facebook. I just knew that this video wa available directly (as opposed to the recording made by a fan at the Tulsa game). I noticed Dibrell coming out of the tunnel and then making the touchdown catch from Vizza. And as for my favorite poster, Quoner, I don't necessarily expect representatives from the University of North Texas to wear green all the time. But most of the time. If this is too difficult, perhaps they should not work for a university whose nickname is Mean Green. Look for me tomorrow. I'll be the guy wearing green. 13. That may effect where you sit on the ride back from the airport.
  14. Good advice from Lou Holtz. 16,232 or 16,231. It's not that big a difference. And some day, your staying home with the wife and new son (?) will pay off big time. Listen on the radio. And be careful about shouting while the baby is asleep. GO MEAN GREEN
  15. Dodge blamed UNT's blocked extra point and field goal on Jeremy Knott not getting the ball high enough off the ground. Isn't this always the reason kicks are blocked ?
  16. I know and like Craig Miller. But we've got plenty of alums like him. It's too bad that he has such a public arena for his distain for NT, but he does. While I like him, I don't listen to him during cloodge football season. Which also means I don't get to listen to George, the biggest fan NT could have with the same public forum. GO MEAN GREEN
  17. Here's an idea. And it's free. Write a letter to the editor to the Denton Record-Chronicle. There have been 2 letters opposing the new stadium fee (the last one today 9-29) and an editorial with an opposing slant to it. Only one guest editorial has come out. It was a well written piece by David Anderson. Write a letter to the editor to P.O. Box 369 Denton, Texas 76202. GO MEAN GREEN
  18. I had a great time this weekend. I really, really like Rice Stadium. It's a classic-old, but still very much up to date. We drove down Friday and were pleased to see so many North Texas fans on the way. Lots of "Talon signs." The Green Brigade was present and professional. I'm sure some think the MOB is fun. I thought they were an embarassment to a fine university. Dr. B. was at the Tailgate Owley and at the game wearing Green. She's a great asset to our University. And by the way, she sat in the heat facing the sun with the rest of us. My wife and I had a friendly disagreement as to which game weekend was the more fun--I liked LSU, while she liked Rice. GO MEAN GREEN--The first LEED GREEN stadium in the nation.
  19. While I think more correct information needs to get oout to more people (read;students), I was told this past weekend by the AD and by the President of the Student Body that we, as alums, should not do anything to try to influence the vote. This is hard for me becausae I am so passionate about a new stadium, but I trust the people in charge and I hope that is the correct thing to do. I'd hate to go against what I was told to do, and then find out that a favorable vote is void because of something I did. GO MEAN GREEN PS I was told voting could ONLY be done on line. That there would be not "paper" ballot. j
  20. That is an odd phrase "After defeats to Vandy and Texas" Owl...the other white meat GO MEAN GREEN
  21. I just called. There is going to be a high school robotics competition at the Colseium that day. Klaatu Barada Nikto
  22. Drex suggested that I could find out about a demolition permit for the Radison. So I did. There has been no permit requested for the Radison, but the very nice lady that answered the call told me that if the property was owned by the University, that no permit was needed. "State trumps city," she said. So I'll look somewhere else. Owl...The other white meat GO MEAN GREEN
  23. My god I forgot how ugly and rediculous our players looked. I hope we never go back to those days again. As for the black jerseys, I really like black jerseys but only if they are a part of the jersey line. Like I would like it if NT had a black jersey as a third jersey but it needs to be well designed in my opinion...not the crap DD made the players wear a few years ago. "Singing Glory to the Green...Singing Glory to the White." No mention of blue copper, or black. GO MEAN GREEN
  24. OK...I contacted my friend that used to attend all the NT games, but especially, back in the 60s. He thinks the opposing team was Cincinnatti and that the coach was either Ed Jucker or Tay Baker. It seems NT got out to a big lead early and the opposing coach (NT coach was Dan Spika) called time out. During the time out, an NT fan ran out onto the floor with a live snake. My friend says he was at this game and had a pretty clear rememberance of that night. I'll try to contact Dan Spika. More updattes later. GO MEAN GREEN
  25. And unless she's a first semester freshman, she probably wouldn't be asked to pay for it ever. If the increase goes into effect after 2001, many current students won't be asked to help. At least not when they sign up for classes. Vote Yes. Vote Green GO MEAN GREEN Funny that that story would follow a Honda commercial that DFW drivers want more "green." I want a LEED Green stadium.
