  1. I love that story. Way to go Coach Mendoza. Way to go Ruddie.
  2. Sue. I thought going to the Snake Pit would be fun. But I, like many of you, have really gotten used to the modern "ness" of the Super Pit. I have no desire to ever play there again. I'm wondering abut the reason, the real reason we played there anyway. I think the University got a fat pay check for renting out the Colseium for the robot competition. I think the retro thing was just a cover up. I can't imagine UT being bumped form the Super Drum or A & M vacating Reed to play a game in G. Rollie. Give me my great seats on row 2. Where no one is more than 4 or 5 seats from an aisle. I now remember why the Colseium was built in the first place. The Snake Pit sucks.
  3. I went to the first 4 New Orleans Bowl games. My team was playing. I was impressed with how few New Orleans residents knew what I was speaking of when I mentioned the New Orleans Bowl. "You mean the Sugar Bowl ?" was the usual response. I think the New Orleans Sports Commission needs to do a better job promoting this game. Look at a hotel promo from New Orleans. When they talk about upcoming events in the Crescent City, the New Orleans Bowl is never mentioned. GO MEAN GREEN
  4. I was surprised to see Howerton again last night. He lay under the basket for a long time. When he finally did sit up, he had that "where in the world am I" look on his face. He went right off the floor to the dressing room. We can't handle a full court press. The TAMUI guards were all over our guys. If this doesn't improve, we're going to give up some major points or turnovers getting the ball in. The reason the crowd (under 1,000) cheered when Ben Knox (I hope he becomes the Fort) finally slammed the ball was that he kept getting the ball, in the hands, and turned it over 3 times before finally scoring. He got that very polite thing going that tall freshmen have. "No no you go first. No really. I'll wait and go behind you. I beg your pardon." I say the same thing with Justin Howerton. Johnny Jones without a tie. I never thought I'd see the day. His shirt didn't even have a top button. One of the best Scrappy guys in a couple of years. And new for '08, kid's tricycle races. Two 3 year olds racing about 2/3 of the court and back. The crowd enjoyed it. Ken Bahnsen was there last night (Ken Bahnsen Gym AKA Snake Pit) watching form the tunnel. I hope he's introduced Friday night. He made the first touchdown at Fouts Field. Do season ticket holders have a reserved section for the game at the Snake Pit? I understand about the general admissioin, but if 3,500 students showed up ( I wish) there wuldn't be room for those that purchased season tickets. See everyone Friday night. GO MEAN GREEN
  5. And now days, he drinks Diet Coke.
  6. Thanks for the informantion aabout the streaming FAUOWLS44. and please understand. When UNTGRAN says he hopes for a good game, he means he hopes we win by about 126 points. Thanks again. GO MEAN GREEN
  7. I just got an E-Mail from the Athletics Dept. (Friday 12:20 pm) Note said the Basketball season tickets have been mailed. GO MEAN GREEN
  8. Since we rarely send the Green Brigade to out of town conference games, I'd like to see the Mean Green 18 Wheeler on road games as a center piece for those Mean Green fans that do travel with the team. Imagine the Mean Green getting off the team bus at the out of town venue and seeing that big beautiful truck. And how the home team would feel seeing what the visitors brought with them. GO MEAN GREEN
  9. Across the street form the Super Pit. On Highland St. Also known as the Men's Gym and more correctly the Ken Bahnsen Gym.

  11. I never thought I'd feel so good about 1-8. GO MEAN GREEN
  12. The Fake Lonnie Finch brings up something I would like discussed. Ever since NT started scheduling "money" games, I've heard people claim that we (NT Football) get hurt and banged up so badly that we have a hard time continuing the season at full strength. Is there any evidence that playing Texas or Oklahoma or the like is phycically harder on our team than playing La Monroe or Western Kentucky ? I remember a few years ago Patrick Cobbs played against Oklahoma and got hurt the next week and was lost for the season against someone I can't even recall now. Thank you Students GO MEAN GREEN
  13. The Hockey Pokey is what it''s all about. no no The Hocky Pokey is what it's all about no that's not it. The Hokey Pokey yeah THAT'S what it's all about.
  14. In 1969 or early 1970 I too made a banner that was hung from the rafters of the Pit or Men's Gym. I remember we played the Louisville Cardinals and the banner was good enough to get me an audience with the Dean of Men.
  15. I listened to the radio broadcast but couldn't watch on TV. So I stayed up until past 2:00am just to see that run. WOW. Congratulations to Toby and all the Mean Green
  16. Since Toby's touchdown happened within regulation ? why was there no try for the PAT ? I could undersatnd if the winning score came in "extra innings", but this was within the game. Is the PAT optional ? I'm really excited for Coach Dodge, the players, and the entire Mean Green Nation. GO MEAN GREEN
  17. Actually, I think our entire coaching staff is LEED certified. Very few carbon emmissions.
  18. Welcome GSU. As you demonstrate, there are a lot of "eagles" around the country. But there's only one Mean Green. So welcome and remember you don't have to wait until next year. We play one more home game the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Go Stadium GO MEAN GREEN
  19. Dirty Savage--Were you there last night and 2 weeks ago against FIU ? I thought before the attendance numbers were announced that the 2 games were similar. Even my wife commented as to the attendance being similar to the previous game. If we can catch some good weather against Arkansas State we should set a season attendance record. Thank you Students GO MEAN GREEN
  20. Wow. Well, I certainly can't top that, but I hosted the first event at the Radison (Sheraton as it was known then). The sleeping rooms were not open yet and I had to book the event from a trailer office parked in the parking lot. The morning of my event, the carpet was still rolled up on the bare concrete floors of the ballroom. Nervous ? Yes. David Farmer was a wonderful asset to the Radison and the Denton community. He was an expert on wine and always made events at the Radison special. I don't know where he is now, but I'd like to see him back in whatever new hotel comes to Eagle Point. Those of you that know David might be surprised to know that he was an attorney in a previous life. Thats you North Texas Students GO MEAN GREEN
  21. Just spoke to Bruce. The photos are going to be at the Schrader Pavillion (between the Library and the Union Building). the event goes from 10:00 until 2:00.
  22. LSU has a University hotel called the College Inn. The Tiger football team stays there the night before a home game. Oklahoma operates the Sooner Hotel. It's walking distance from Owens Field. It's built much like a dormitory with very small rooms, but it's very clean and they bake fresh cookies all day for anyone that walks by the front desk. Arkansas operates a hotel converted from an old dorm. I don't remember the name. I tried to stay there last season but it was booked solid. Thank you NT Students GO MEAN GREEN
