  1. I'm excited about the Alabama game and The Army game. But I voted for the home opener against Ohio UNIVERSITY. I think it's winnable, it's at Fouts, and if we win, most casual fans will think we knocked off OHIO STATE.
  2. It was the "Pat Boone's Couontry Inn" and although it was located on what's now University Drive @ Fulton, back then, it was almost in the country. University Drive (US 380) was called Highway 24 back then and it was 2 lanes wide. Then, I went downtown and helped build the Courthouse on the Square. I was just a youngster back in 1894. Ahhh...Memories.
  3. Pat Boone "Love Letters in the Sand" Stadium
  4. A total game by the Mean Green. I thought the crowd would have been bigger. Who was the NT fan ejected from the game and what did he/she do to deserve such treatment ?
  5. So only 2 Sunbelt teams will be able to go to a bowl game ?
  6. I don't get it. How can a facility that holds 6,500 as opposed to the 40,000 the new stadium is going to seat, with only 10 players on the court at a time, as opposed to the 22 that are on the new field at one time, serving a campus population of 27,500 (?) as spposed to the 33,000 at NT cost $73,000,000 and the new stadium, an apparent bargain, cost $60,000,000 ?
  7. As far as "register", I didn't mean ask for any personal information. I just was looking for a reason to force the student to be in his seat when the team came out, and then hopefully stay until the drawing at the beginning of the second half. Under my idea, if for any reason, the winning student doesn't attend the next semester (grades, graduate, just doesn't want to continue) , any reason, the prize would be forfited. The prize would also be available ONLY to the student whose name was drawn. Not transferable.
  8. A promotion for current students only. All registered student's names are put in a hat. A really big hat that can hold 33,000 names. Just before the second half, and after all attendees have been counted, one name is drawn at each home game. The winner must be present to win, and he/she gets his next semester tuition (just tuition) paid in an amount based upon his/her current load. A student currently taking 12 hours would get a credit for up to 12 hours the next semester. A 6 hour part-time student would get get up to 6 hours tuition paid. But, YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. Maybe even have to get there before kick off to "register" before the drawing. Students would have to be at the game to register and need to stay at least until the drawing. The cost would be free to the student, and would only cost the Athletic Dept if the winning student was actually present. Great reward for the student, and minimal risk to Athletics.
  9. Here's an idea...Combine a basketball venue and a stage. That way, the building could be used for events other than basketball. In fact, perhaps, the basketball court could be incorporated onto the stage.
  10. The Norse blow. Go with the New York Violet.
  11. SNAFU or not, I'll feel better when Washington's Hancock is on the dotted line.
  12. Holey Moley...I just got my season ticket renewal form. There's no schedule, but for '09 there are 6 home games. I don't remember getting a renewal form this early in years past. Maybe I have. Anyway, I'm signing up for Mean Green 2009. Green Brigade, Dancers, Cheerleaders, "first down", funny old car, "Boomer", waterless urinals, Kettle Korn, and everything that makes NT football great. I just can't wait. GO MEAN GREEN
  13. Have him wear some OU gear, and Scrappy and the cheerleaders will probably give him a Mean Green shirt and ask him to put it on.
  14. Atrocious ? The last few games (4) were wins. The last 4 opponent's games were atrocious.
  15. Does anyone have dates for games other than Sept 3 @ Ball St Sept 19 @ Bama Nov 21 Army And in what city do we play Alabama ?
  16. Coke Zero is not Coca-Cola and Troy Pumpenwagnolos is not Mean Joe Greene. But they're both heading to the locker room via the stands.
  17. What are some women's sports that we could afford, that would offset the addition of baseball ? I've heard rowing, but where does one go to row ? And who do we compete with ?
  18. Who in the wide world of sports is Troy Polamalu ? I swear I've never heard of him. Does he play pro football ? One of the comments on the commercial link asks why Mean Joe is walking down the ramp from the seating area having passed through fans on his way to the locker room. I never noticed that before. Another comment was that this Troy fellow couldn't carry Mean Joe's jock. It's hard to improve on a classic.
  19. Thanks Smitty, via DeepGreen. I really really like this graphic. It is almost as distintive as the old stylized Eagle helmets. Kind of a Michigan look to it.
  20. It's a good story. I just don't believe it. Get me Bob Tyler on the line.
  21. Last year or the year before, someone came up with a helmet graphic that I really liked. I even showed it to RV. It was a green helmet with the new Eagle logo almost too big for the helmet. It wrapped around the helmet and had a mirror image on the other side. Anyone got that ?
  22. And speaking of the Longhorns, of the 7 games played in Austin this season, 4 started at 6:00pm or later
  23. The Walgreen's at University @ N. Elm in Denton has a ton of t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts. They have hooded sweatshirts in green, grey, white, black, and pink. TWU stuff as well. But what's the deal with the lack of non-hooded sweatshirts ? Nobody sems to have them. Not the bookstore, Voertman's, the gear booths at the games, nobody. All I want is a plain, high quailty sweatshirt. Has anybody seen a non-hooded sweatshirt ?
  24. Didn't former NT QB Jordan Case spend several years with Saskatchewan ?
