It's his first start. You can't expect him to come out and be flawless. He is going to have to take his licks and make mistakes if he is going to learn and be the future QB or we have to see that he isn't the future. He has shown good and bad tonight.

Apparently he liked backing up Ronnie Brown with Lex Hilliard as his backup. Its the Dolphins backfield minus Ricky Williams... *edit* nevermind Ricky is there as well...

Can someone give us a rundown of what to expect from Baine and what kind of experience he has? Was he projected as a QB and going to redshirt this year or was he recruited for a different position?

I would bet on Rice beating the spread and winning this one unfortunately. They played #5 UT to a 34-17 game to open the season. We plyed unranked Clemson to the tune of 35-10. Unless Vegas didn't like what they saw from UT and they now think Clemson is the better team I don't see us winning this one. I'm going to go with Rice 42 UNT 31. Big plays kill us again. Until I see our defense not give up 2-3 50+ yard plays a game I don't see us winning the close ones.

Why not? They still compete in non football athletics and it may not be a bad idea down the track to add a few more non football schools. Its worked out well for a few other conferences.

Why don't we (the Sun Belt) raid the WAC and take on NMSU and LaTech. When USA jumps up in football as expected that gives us 12 teams. It would be a better option for us than trying to jump ship to a dying WAC and try and revive it.

I appologize for the confusion. The comparision I was trying to draw was between the '01 5-7 team that got spanked by CSU in the NOB but saved DDs job to this years team. I mixed up what years we went (I've slept a few times since then). I still stand by everything I said above with that correction.

I haven't posted in a while, but I felt I should now. Give it a rest. He has made HUGE strides for the program since DD left. The team on the field this year is equally as good if not better than the 02 NOB team. I am fairly certain they would whoop that team head to head. The difference is the caliber of teams in the belt is also better than it was in 02. Dodge is building a program and he is doing it while being punished for Dickey's mistakes. Every year the team gets better and better and the quality of the players on the field get better and better. I think it will all come together next year with Riley's 2nd year as QB. As for this year and those that want him fired now, give it a rest.

I wonder if Bo will try and keep basketball going with a little of his NBA monies.

DeLoach in action? These are the kinds of players he recruited his first stint here. I can't wait for another 2002 Defense in a couple years!

I know there is already a thread discussing the possibility of 3 Belt teams in a Bowl game, but consider this. ASU is one of the teams predicted as a replacement and FIU just beat them last night to move to 4-5. Of the last 3 games ULM and WKU should be guaranteed wins at home only the road game at FAU is a maybe and even with that as a loss they finish 6-6 and are still bowl eligable, though 7-5 would put them in a better position. So can FIU go from 0 wins to a bowl in 1 offseason?

Earlier in the week they also gave him a 2 year contract extension. They really like him there.

It looked like he was playing LBer for the Tigers and there is definately no way he can say laying a shoulder into the QB was unintentional.

I think the surprise of the week had to be FIU hanging with USF. They could play spoiler this year for a few teams.

It is one thing when your DD and have been here 7 years and still have to play it safe. Its an entirely differenty deal when you are TD and have been here 1 season and are installing a new defense without having a full set of personel recruited. You need to give any head coach at least 3 seasons to get HIS people in place to run an offense and defense the way he would want it. Remember we have a freshman (of sorts) defensive coordinator as well. If he has to play this way in big games say next year, or god forbid the year after its time for concern, but this year it is excusable. Why blow your whole playbook when your down 21-0 with a very winable game the next week. Save some surprises don't let Tulsa or Rice get a ton of film on how to foil every play and look you have. It is smart what TD did and next year I feel like you will see a totally different outlook at the first game.

Gotta love the Democratic leadership today. Al Gore is making tons championing Global warming, and not just from his speeches and now this from Pelosi (of course we know about her, the woman really does not deserve to be in any position of power yet the fine people of California keep reelecting her and the Democrats made her speaker of the house as a gimick move). I wonder if the Democratic party can hold together at this rate if the best they can offer after 8 years of a Republican in office is Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton. Is that the 2 best people in the whole of the party? Sad... just sad. More on topic though, I have seen a lot less conservative estimates of the production that would come out of the Gulf not to mention MANY of the other countries of the world already drill there stealing the oil the Democratic party and our eco-morons have been blocking us from drilling for. China is one of the countries already reaping the benefits of oil that should be rightfully ours.
