  1. The NCAAP is about as impartial as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. They would never denounce the complaint made by Green and I promise you its not because they are trying to be impartial.
  2. Looks like the AP poll has it right while the USA Today poll still hasn't caught on. The AP has Troy up to 13 votes to OSU's 5 while Troy still has 0 votes in the AP poll to OSU's 11. Go Trojans kick some Georgia butt this weekend and show'em what the Belts made of!
  3. I couldn't agree more. Because of where I work I deal with Mexicans as 75% of my customer base (legal and otherwise) and I can say they are some of the most honest, friendly, hard working people I encounter.
  4. Damn if only I could find that picture of Ponch to post...
  5. The sad thing about sterotypes and connotations is the have to come from somewhere. So why anyone would want to be associated with such a stereotype or word with that connotation is beyond me. Why associate yourself with something that holds no value? The fact is that word holds that meaning because of how, when, and where its used by the people that use it. And Dodge or any other coach for that matter is justified in wanting to distance a team from that image and mindset.
  6. I never said players. I said Green specifiically and I would have no problem with a talk show host speaking the truth about one player. Lets see Joseph Miller jumped on him for it I don't see Joseph Miller being complained about to the NAACP. He screwed up and couldn't own up to his own actions now he should see what happens when people don't take responsibility for themselves and try to pass the blame. Like I said his scholarship should be pulled, he should be kicked off the team, and kicked out of school. Not for the remark he made but for trying to destroy the team because he couldn't take any responsibility for himself.
  7. If you can honestly tell me he was talking about a nice neighborhood and not talking about being a thug then your statement holds merit otherwise it has everything to do with what I stated. You know as well as I do he ment nothing good by that statement.
  8. I would say its rough to put all 4 picks squarely on the shoulders of Vizza. The biggest problem has been the O-line. You know the blocking is bad when a DE can get in a screen lane for a pick. Heck he got nailed 2 times for safetys. He was hurried, hit, or sacked every time he took a snap and all of this after the beating he took by Troy's D. He is going to be one helluva QB if we can give him some time to throw and some lanes to run in on the option.
  9. There should be no damn race controversy. This has everything to do with Dodge not wanting thugs on the team. Green needs to shut the hell up and own up to his mistake instead of blaming others for what he did wrong. I hope they kick his butt out of school.
  10. When I saw the story I had a similar recation to Green playing the race card. For gosh sake the guy is in college. If I was a coach I would have suspended his butt for saying that too and I would have kicked his butt off the team for filing the complaint. This kid is obviously not a team player. Why would Dodge or any other coach for that matter want a player that aspires to deal drugs, join a gang, kill people and generally do nothing good for society. Now if he was saying it meaning look what I have done with my life since leaving the hood thats a different story but I am pretty sure he was refering to being a thug. Kick his butt out of school for all I care. I want class acts and classy players not thugs representing UNT. To Mr. Green, You screwed up and made a dumb remark. Then you screwed up again by filing this complaint when you should have been apologizing. Now own up to your mistakes be a man and shut the hell up. Rob
  11. Unfortunately in the poor hispanic community this is not an uncommon living situation.
  12. So far our losses have come in pairs. Hopefully we can rip off another 7 game winning streak.
  13. So what if the defense gave up 35 points? THEY GOT 7 FREAKING TURN OVERS. Thats a HUGE improvement. THe defense did play a LOT better. Had they been playing like they played against OU it would have been 79-0. If the offense could have gotten anything going or scored off any of those turn overs you might have seen a Mean Green win and Troy not even breaking 30 points for the game. This loss was not on the defense. They played better than against ULM but the offense didn't back them up. All the blame for this game should be focused on the offense. That being said, I would be willing to bet the O-line and every other player that played against this Troy D learned a lot from this game (coachs included). Troy has a top 15 D and top 25 O. They will be ranked by seasons end. Look at it this way we forced more turnovers than any other team against them and held them to less total yards than 3 BCS conference schools. I would say all in all it wasn't as bad a day as some of you are making it out to be.
  14. Post of the year. Hell, post of the century. I still haven't stopped laughing.
  15. Do you really think taunting the admin is such a good idea?
  16. Just an FYI that Troy is moving up in the rankings and if they win at Georga later in the season you may see them be the first Belt team in the top 25. Now that we don't have to play them I say, Go Trojans!
  17. Nice to see from Cobbs! Also don't forget Cleo Lemon from stAte is starting for Miami today at QB and has a rushing TD.
  18. Tell that to OK St. if not for a couple late scores they basically got beat by the same score we did in Troy. Troy has a season defense that blitzed all out against a line we knew was young an unseasoned coming into this year. I hate to say this but if we had opened the season at Troy instead of Oklahoma the score woud have probably still been 79-10. Patience. Rome was not built in a day and neither will the dynasty at UNT. Put our line from '02-'03 on the field and you would have seen an entirely different game with an entirely different score. More than likely a win. Oh and don't think our defense is improving? Our D held them to less total yards than Arkansas, Florida, and Ok. St and forced more turnovers. I would say thats an improvement.
  19. I don't know who or what you have been watching the last 2 weeks but if you can't see improvement you need to go see the eye doctor asap.
  20. Really? Can we get this thread locked and deleted please...
  21. I agree the condition of our players is not where it should be and you can see the difference between plays conditioned for a Dickey offense/defense for 3-4 years and those that have had only 1 year under DD and now 1 year under Dodge's conditioning. Dickeys view of conditioning damn near crippled a player that should be an all-american this year where as Dodge has freshman and sophmores out making plays our veteran players can't because they are too slow and heavy. Look at who our top players this season have been and look at who has been replaced and what class those that are starting in place of them are from. This team is getting younger and younger as the season progresses and its also getting better. Seeing who is out on the field making plays makes me extremely excited for next season. We are going to have a very young and experienced team hitting the field next year and the best part is they won't just be here next year but the year after and for some of them another year after that. The fact that Dodge doesn't start players based on class but based on who is best for the position is an exciting development in Denton for anyone who watched the team under Dickey. If you don't believe me look at last years green team. How many of those guys are starting over upperclassmen this year? This is an exciting time in Mean Green football where the AP polls and BCS games are a dream, but one we can reach instead of the dream being getting back to winning Sun Belt titles. Those will come there is no doubt there. Anyway sorry to hijack the thread, and yes you are definately on to something with the conditioning.
  22. Offense does good, defense struggles, people call for Mendoza's head. Defense plays well, offense sucks, so when are you whiners going to start calling for Fords head? Give me a break. Vizza got some valuble game experience against what is easily a top 25 defense and our defense showed a lot of moxy against a top 35 offense. Why can't you people see the fricken bright side. This team has so much potential and all you can see is we lost by whatever the *f* the score was. I wish the admins would banish all of you until the end of next season so we wouldn't have to hear you whine this season only to come back next year when we kick ass and win the belt saying you told us so. You and a half full waterglass need some serious time together instead of a half empty one.
  23. I'm just wondering how the 4th best WR in the nation doesn't make the Sun Belt top 10 players of the first half...
  24. Wow, first win of the season followed by the first positive remarks by CFN.
  25. I would have thought stAte would have been favored in that game... its obvious though that one week didn't get our D any respect. Lets hope they shut down Troy good and stop getting all these predicted blow outs.
