NIL. What could possibly go wrong??

A lot of people will be surprised when some of the big $$$ goes to players from Women's Golf/Tennis/Volleyball -
Is UT about to start another conference realignment?

You could say the same thing about the Cowboys, yet they are one the most valuable sports franchises in the World. I am no fan of the Horns, but they could bring a tremendous following. -

I guess the Food Network can start paying Bryce when he appears on his Mom's show? This could be a Gold mine for SMU as the boosters can now make their payments tax deductible -

It's a toss-up. I think Waco is easier to pair up with Austin for travel -

Prediction if this were to happen (surely to be wrong) Texas to the Pac 12 (possibly paired with Baylor) OU to Big 10+ (possibly paired with OSU) -

This opens the way for a group of schools to break away from the NCAA and form it's own Sports leagues. Will be interested in seeing if it's only for FB and BB. -

Can athletes enter into NIL agreements with boosters? The NCAA does not have any rules that restrict boosters from paying athletes as long as those payments are not directly for their athletic performance or an inducement for recruiting purposes. Some new state laws address booster involvement in different ways, and some might need further interpretation before it's clear how involved boosters can be in paying athletes in those states. BIGGEST F'ING JOKE IN THE WHOLE DEAL -
So what happens to sites like Rivals, 247 and others?

Give it less than a year before HS players sue for NIL rights -

Will be sad the first time a group of kids ask their favorite college teams players for autographs and are told they have to pay for them. -

Just someone wanting to relive the glory days of Texas football. Texas would not want to join the SEC because A&M is there and also they would not do well. Years back rumor has it that Texas and OU were very close to heading to the Pac-12. P.S. - The Longhorn Network would probably have to go or the deal restructured before another conference would take them. -
Right thing for the players and wrong thing for College Sports at the same time. If possible, the split between P5 and G5 (and even the lower P5s) will grow even wider. I believe this will add another piece to a selected group of P5 teams eventually splitting off to form their on organization. Also, here are 2 more predictions/questions - 1 - How long until the first player gets into problem with taxes and then sues the University for not "doing their job" and making sure he/she knew everything they needed to do? 2 - How long until the first Title 9 lawsuit when it ends up being P5 male players making the big bucks? Would rather see Football do like BB and have someone start paid leagues for those players who do not want to go to college. Disagree all you want but when this completely changes the landscape, and not for the good, lets discuss again (remember those who thought the transfer portal would be good - now there are wholescale movements and new levels of tampering).

If the right player comes along there is always a spot available.

I always find the analysis somewhat a joke. Funny how a talented player can make a coach so much better. I Heard an interview with Northwestern's HC where he joked about how coaches can forget everything about coaching when they are having bad years and then all of the sudden "rediscover" themselves when things are going well. Taking nothing away from those at the top of the list, but it seems to me the better coaches are the ones who are able to find success without the unlimited funding and teams full of 4/5 star players.

I think the Murphy Twins might be getting overlooked by those outside the Green Family. I am hoping they surprise everyone this year.

Summer in Santa Fe
El Paso Eagle replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Great place!!! Like it much better than Ruidoso which is also another great place to visit. Family used to have a cabin in Ruidoso and we would try to take the "long-cut" and go through Cloudcroft every chance we could. Can also recommend Capitan (Smoky Bear) and Lincoln (Billy the Kid) as okay place to visit if your in the area Sadly a lot of the places in this area were hit hard this past year. -

I have heard the academic standards at Troy are among the lowest in the nation. Might help if academic are not a strength.
