  1. Yep. The only thing surprising about this to me is how quickly the consolidation/separation is happening. The super league is forming and a whole bunch of Haves are finding out they’re just Have Nots that have been propped up by their affiliations with the true money programs.
  2. Well, my point is these are two separate things. You want to pay players for NIL. Fine. But don't try and create a non-profit and act like you're running a charity when you're running a payer-playing scheme. Run a legit charity or pay players for "NIL" and pay taxes on it, you greedy c*nts.
  3. What sucks about this is that it wouldn't be that hard to do it correctly. So boosters want to pay the athletes to visit a local hospital or put on a clinic for kids or something like that. Set up a charitable collective to do that. The problem is that too many of them had a very narrow scope and weren't/aren't really spending their money on the charitable work and instead all the money is going to the players to maybe show up at an event once or twice a year. That's not really a charitable organization. It COULD and SHOULD work, but your focus should be on the charitable work, with the bonus of using NIL to pay the athletes to be taking part in the charitable work. But of course, that's not what these wealthy d-bags are doing. But you'd have to get boosters on board with some of their money being used for administrative and overhead costs of ACTUALLY running a charity, not just them rubbing elbows with athletes on social media.
  4. Tobe is huge now. Fashion shows and collabs with Pharrell and CeeLo Green, movies, TV shows, etc. He's done a really good job of only doing things the way he wants them as well, insisting that his wife and kids are always able to travel with him.
  5. This guy is an AAC School? Weird that Memphis only has like 2k followers. Or is he just a random dude on the internet?
  6. This Board: Doesn't SMU have its own forum? Also This Board: I need more threads whining about SMU. Beat them. That's all.
  7. I've actually suggested before that we use a very dark green instead of black as a 3rd/accent color, so I'm honestly all for it. I mean, our early 2000s green looked almost black on tv a lot of the time, anyway.
  8. Now with the COVID year, and if I applied for injury waivers for every year since I turned 40.... are we at a 30 years to play 1 scenario?
  9. In the long run, this is all short-term movement until the inevitable P2-P4, which is already gestating. Like it or not, the Big12 isn't a "Power Conference" without the massive revenue generated by UT and OU, and the same for the Pac-12 without their big dollar programs. It's good for SMU, just like moving to the AAC is good for UNT, just like moving to the Big12 is still good for Houston and Cincinnati. It's just that the level of goodness isn't what it would've been a couple of decades ago, and it's only going to be at the current level of goodness until the next round of madness and/or full consolidation occurs.
  10. So you like Richard Marx? His early work was a little too "Soft Rock Contemporary" for me, but when Rush Street came out in 1991, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole album burns with R&B soul, aided by performances by Luther Vandross, Billy Joel, and guest drummer Tommy Lee. He's been compared to Peter Cetera, but I think Marx has a more raw, vulnerable lyrical sensibility. In 1997, Marx released THIS, Flesh and Bone, his final studio album with Capitol Records. I think his underrated masterpiece, though, is "You Never Take Me Dancing", a song so funky that most people don't even listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the transactional nature of intimate adult relationships, but a statement on Nice Guy Syndrome and Toxic Masculinity, and Marx's own previous heartbreaks. Hey, Tasty!
  11. Yeah, Tobe is one of the biggest things going right now. Last two works are amazing. If he could give something with a similar vibe/energy to Fye Fye, I think it'd be a hit.
  12. I didn't read through all this, so I'm just gonna say this: The diving eagle/SOW sucks, and has always sucked. It isn't proportioned or designed well for a football helmet, and it looks incredibly generic. It's not CLIP ART EAGLE bad, but it's not much better. Our university spending money on this instead of awarding it to a junior high contest winner is just another example of UNT's piss-poor money management. Obviously, this is all subjective. But, I do have a design degree from UNT.
  13. Yeah, I can't find any other reliable references to that date change or footnotes back to official NCAA release, so it looks like it's still May 1-15. It's also important to note that graduate transfers don't have a window. They can enter the transfer portal at any time. And we don't necessarily know when guys will graduate.
  14. It was originally, but they moved it to April a couple of months back. That's what it shows in your previous post. 4/15-4/30.
  15. I wonder why all these NFL teams rest their starters in the final week once seeding is set. Don't they know these guys can get hurt crossing the street?!
