  1. Yeah, a TD a game is actually a pretty big difference. But I'm not crying about the defense right now. Season is over. We'll see what we get as far as players and coaching in 2024.
  2. They play a 3-3-5. Previous DC was Bryan Nardo, who's now the DC at Oklahoma State. Current DC runs the same scheme. So this is a 3-3-5 DE with experience.
  3. I'm guessing most will be graduates or graduate transfers. Almost all of them started school in 2019-2020 (just not necessarily here).
  4. I was one of the few people high on Odom during the mid-to-late season coaching carousel debates. I do suffer from the general belief that defense is harder to find than offense is right now.
  5. Yes. I think a lot of it actually comes down to experience and football smarts. The ONE thing I've been harping on is that 2-gap nose. At least for early downs. It also might allow us to push some of our other guys to the outside and give them a better chance at collapsing the tackles.
  6. I'm not as negative about the Portal as most, but I agree. Given the fluidity of player movement in college football, you just always need to be putting your best guys out there to get you the win. If that's a True Freshman, so be it. No need for sandbagging. It's not like we're playing for draft position.
  7. Official Review: "Too much space between the receiver and defensive back. 15-yd penalty and loss of down."
  8. I don't even get excited for the TD until they review it. Refs will be like "I don't like how his cleats are tied. Incomplete!"
  9. I would honestly run that draw on every 3rd down if they are gonna keep running outside blitzes. Oh damn, am I DD?
  10. Just hoping that our guys start attacking with some confidence on defense.
  11. Good thing Tulsa also stinks. Great plays by Richards and Texada.
  12. They've had a top 50 defense while playing in the ACC. Since Tony White came on in 2020, they went from 90 to 65 to 41 to 46. That was as they went from a multiple 4-man front to the 3-3-5.
  13. I was meh on Morris to begin with and nothing has changed in my assessment so far. I mean, I LIKE him more than Seth, but still in a "wait-and-see" mode.
  14. I'm personally of the opinion you ALWAYS need one big-ass NT to at least sub in for some early downs, but just glancing at Syracuse, they seem to have similarly tiny linemen. But they've also been running that system for a while, under Tony White (who learned under Rocky Long) and now from Long himself. So they probably have the system down pretty well.
  15. Not only that, Arnett learned the 3-3-5 directly from Rocky Long when he was on his staff at SD State. That said, I think Arnett will get another P5 DC offer after this year.
