  1. He was at UTEP when I remember watching my first Miner games growing up. The guy could never be brought down for a loss. I think his Miner nickname was "The Train". Little did I know back then that his RB coach would be my school's head coach while I attended. Me personally: High School it was probably Lee Benson (Midland Lee) vs. El Paso Franklin. I don't put too much stock in high school performances, though. It seems like there are superstars in every district about every 4 years. College, though is different. I saw LT a couple times, including his 400+ yard outting against UTEP in Fort Worth. He couldn't be caught from behind, and he just threw would-be tacklers away like swatting off flies. He was special. Side note: I think that was TCU's last year in the WAC.
  2. I hope one day I log onto this forum and someone has linked to a story that says "Alliance meets to approve UNT membership."
  3. If you average the point differential in every single one of our losses since conference play began (12/29), you get 4.375. ...throw out the 64-52 Denver game and it is 3.28. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that. I have to think it really hardened these young guys, and with all this tourney experience to chew on they will be better next season because of it.
  4. Imagine another year in the Belt: Ray Harper Year 2 vs. Mean Green w/Tony, CJ, Williams and Co. That would have been epic.
  5. Thanks Harry. A powerful image. One of two that will forever be in my postseason basketball mind. so close!
  6. You sit on it because you want to play for the tie/win and not let the other team have a chance to respond, right? You only shoot quick if you're down by more than one possession. Because then you foul and try to stop the clock as much as possible. Get more possessions = more shots to close the score gap. ....right?
  7. video BTW, what is the record for blocks in a tourney? Is Tony about to break it? Not even close? Just wondering.
  8. Not a chance in Hades WKU is tired from their run. By the time they are done running loops around us (inevitable), the game will be billed the 10th Circle of Suffering. Inferno will need to be edited to include Ray Harper.
  9. DD had some great teams but really struggled to capitalize on the recruiting front following his Sun Belt success. JJ seems to be building momentum in every aspect. This team is young, faced adversity, and still made the finals tonight. With only 1 or 2 seniors on the roster, this train looks like it ain't stopping anytime soon.
  10. I think good teams - well prepared teams - seem to always have luck on their side.
  11. Pretty f'n sweet that you make it from Cal to (possibly) see your team win the dang thing. ....or get humiliated in every possible way. We don't deserve to be here.
  12. 3 consecutive days we are playing in the biggest game in the history of western civilization. That's gotta be a western civilization record or something.
  13. This tourney is like JJ's second home.
  14. What in the world? Another SBC tourney, coming right up.
  15. We shouldn't even be on the floor with these guys. Tony will finally get his triple-double but it will be a wasted, losing effort.
  16. Assuming this all goes through, what Plumm threads will I have to look forward to moving forward?
  17. Do we know if they're telling the Talons to keep it quiet, or whoever is in those seats?
  18. I had an exchange with Rick a while back about an accident involving an SUV. It had come off the 35W overpass at the north 820 crossover at a high velocity, flipped/rolled perpendicular to the highway underneath and proceeded to skid upside down, through traffic and across the grass medium into the opposing traffic lane. By my estimate, it had rolled, flipped and skid over 75 yards.; it looked more than 50% compressed. It just missed my friends's cars (we were in a caravan), one of which had blood and hair smatttered all over the rear I called 911 and said to the affect of "send what you got". It didn't look like anyone could have survived that. No effing way. I got confirmation the next day that all passengers in the SUV (teenagers) walked away with no major injuries. You just never really know. It's amazing.
  19. I don't think this is so far fetched. 5pm presser. Let's see if they get anything out of it for us to chew on.
  20. Harry ain't nothing but positive. I believe his point is, you'll live. 17 years from now, you'll still be a fan whining about the latest ant piss to rain on UNT athletics. We might be in the Shine Barf conference, west division with LaTech and UTSA, but by God GMG.com will still be around with these tasty offseason debates, scheduling conflicts, and a bottle of Grey Goose. Plumm will be there waiting for you, spelling out for you where the hells bells we should be and Kram will still be gushing positives. 17 years later, we are still here!
