  1. I know it's part of the equation, but I don't believe his draft stock was the deal breaker for staying/going. Call me naive, but I think he really does love his teammates and Denton and feels responsible for helping us get beyond the 1st round.
  2. Give the city time. They'll find a way to give us headaches.
  3. I get the sense that JJ is the AD's first choice, but he is doing the run-around to please the fanbase? This is all just circus entertainment while they already know who they want to sign on?
  4. KRAM can be mr. positive sometimes, but I'm pretty sure he knows LSU ain't no Kentucky. If I'm a bball coach, especially one tied with one of LSU's most successful eras, how are they not appealing? They have tons of money to throw around, a past that you can hang your hat on and aim to rebuild, plus football is always king so it's not like they are putting you under the microscope when you don't win a title. They'll give the next guy some decent time to get his system in gear.
  5. If I'm RV I'm all over this board and monitoring Twitter 24/7, looking for anything definitive.
  6. well done! "but *cough* Fry! *cough* I mean *cough*"
  7. If you can't keep a guy, that is certainly a model to follow.
  8. If I'm wanting-to-go-to-LSU JJ, this would be the worst timing. Who would want to be in his shoes? Look at this roster and tell me it's an easy decision to go. I'm verklempt.
  9. Unless the employer specifies that the tweets be an extension of his column. It sounds like that is not the case, though.
  10. He didn't show us anything to make us believe he could beat anybody outside the Belt, until OSU came in 2007. Then Tech. Then we took care of business on the road at LSU. He might not be walloping AQ programs night in and out, but he is now trading punches. And now his peers from LSU are selling him to be the next HC. I would find it funny if they dismiss LSU's praise JJ, but then hang their hat on Texas noticing Aston. I'm sure they would be ecstatic if we won the regular season title, but I have no reason to believe that would change their opinion of him. They will always find something, just like you can on any coach.
  11. Gee, I don't know; what could it be?
  12. What is our postseason record when you're in attendance?
  13. If Walton can throw a few more airballs, start him at the 2 and stick CBL in the chat. Then I'm good as gold.
  14. Yes, bring back a guy who gave two cents about the program. Good for you guys! In the mean time, you've completely embarrassed a school under the microscope for conference realignment. A school which was giving you a free education.
  15. Last week at a crowded venue in Watauga, I saw a guy who - instead of sneaking his way through the mass at the bar - decided he would raise his elbows and plow through. He worked his way from one end all the way to the other where he nearly knocked over my friend; his words were "Get the f*!k outta my way." ...whatever happened to "excuse me"? It really teed off my friend, and the douche just stood there waiting for my buddy to finally throw a punch. A cop stepped in and just escorted my friend to the back. I really don't know what bothered me more, that this guy was so blatantly looking to get into a fight or that the staff didn't have him thrown out right then and there. There were about 10 other guys that he plowed through on his way to my friend. All of them were giving him the stare from their part of the bar/stool. I'm sure our resident cops on the board have countless similar stories. Just like Rick says there is a nightmare wreck somewhere every night in DFW, it seems like one can never fail to find a dbag at a bar.
  16. Wishful thinking: Tony is using the banquet to announce his return for another year.
  17. That was pretty self-indulging, and way off the railroad track for this topic. Sorry about that.
  18. I was not even 20 when I could already name every D1 conference, membership and school mascots off the top of my head. I knew who the Stoops were before Bob won a title. I was making road trips to support a team (UTEP) that at one point was the losingest D1 Texas football program of all time. I would not consider myself a casual fan; maybe now, but not back then. I remember vividly Seneca Wallace running in and around the big twelve, but never bothering to see who the coach was. He was a highlight reel on Sportcenter just about every week, but keep in mind that program was never in a Big XII title discussion. Maybe it is because I am relatively young to the scene, but I believe to appreciate what DMac did at Iowa State you had to have been aware of how dreadful they were before they arrived. My NCAA "fandome" started about the time I was entering college, so 1997. This is not a knock on DMac, and I think he is a great coach. But your statement makes me wonder if some of you longtime UNT fans (not sure if this is you) tend to glorify the man because of your Fry nostalgia. ...I'll probably get some -1s for that last statement. whatevs.
  19. Is Tim a serious candidate? I can't imagine him leaving El Paso for LSU.
