The story you've posted here has since been walked back by its author and he's taken a bit of a beating by his colleagues in the press. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/19/jonathan-karl-benghazi-regrets_n_3302891.html http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/05/19/abcs-jonathan-karl-to-cnn-i-regret-the-email-was-quoted-incorrectly/

Finance Professor Steve Cole
UNTX replied to golfingomez's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Sigh....that's really too bad. Nice guy and I remember him well as he taught financial institutions. He'd been with UNT a good long while as I graduated way back in '92. Always saw him at the football games....going back years. Some road games as well. -
Did I miss some news about Dajon Williams? Rivals no longer shows him as a commitment, and we aren't listed anymore as having offered. ESPN shows him as still committed to us though. I could be reading things wrong, but I thought we had him at one point and he was rated a 3 star.

Big East deal could be worth as little as $60 million per year
UNTX replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
But why wouldn't SMU and UH just join the MWC along with potential returnees Boise and SDSU, rather than rejoin CUSA with us? Then the MWC could try to lure BYU back and take one other to get to 16 (maybe UTEP?). That is far more likely post any Big East implosion than a return to CUSA. Unfortunately CUSA has no cards to play in this other than to pick off more SBC schools as replacements as needed. -
Briles began his playing career at UH but transferred to Tech and finished there with his degree, so he is a Tech alum. I somewhat doubt he'd leave Baylor for the Tech job though.

Hmmm.......Looks like the line on the game is currently a "pick".

I definitely take four.

Well, goodness gracious. I received just over an hour ago an invitation to a closed football practice! Thursday, August 23rd @ 4:30.

UNTX replied to Texas Stranger's topic in Mean Green Football
Excellent. While standing in line at customs in Mexico this week I was wearing a North Texas shirt. Someone that passed by shouted, "Go Mean Green!" I looked but couldn't tell who it was. The MG Nation is growing and will continue to do so with all the good things we have going on! -
When it comes to saying that "SMU won't play us" I think rather than seeing the entire historical record most posters here aren't long enough in the tooth to care about games that took place from 1922 to 1970 whatever. Since 1990 NT and SMU have met in football 4 times, with NT going 2 and 2. So it took from 1995 when we returned to I-A until 2006 to get a game with them. I myself stil wouldn't call that "ducking NT" either but I would definitely say it when it comes to men's basketball. The two schools have not met in that sport since 2002 despite many attempts by our AD to schedule them. Regardless, you truly are a pathetic individual. Your hatred for all things North Texas really makes you appear to be an obsessed, disturbed, sad sack of a human being as you trash the University all over various fan forums with long winded rants using many different names/handles. What on EARTH did North Texas ever do to you?! For Christ's sake, get the HELL over it already. I also imagine it pissed you off to NO end when we got the CUSA invite. Admit it..........you probably threw something through the wall, or kicked the crap out of your dog, didn't you? I suggest you put the EXTENSIVE time you have on our hands to a better, more productive use. Maybe the link below can help you get started. Good luck. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/forgiveness/MH00131

North Texas leads the all time series with TXST-SM 29-7-3.

BS. Makes no sense whatsoever.

SBC Staffer in Hot Springs: "North Texas Is Gone!"
UNTX replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Not that this means much of anything, other than MTSU's beat writer has just recently tweeted the same rumor. I'll believe it when there's a press conference held at the AC..........until then will continue to just be optimistic. Adam Sparks Tweet -
Karl Benson ready to get to work on new-look Sun Belt Conference
UNTX replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Hi, Checkfacts, TodgeRodge, roddog5, GL2Greatness: Why do you keep coming up with new and different handles, on this and different forums? Your writing style and contempt for UNT will give you away every time. Guys, this person is not, as far as I know, a Texas State or UTSA alum or even a fan of those schools. It's the same guy that's got a serious hate-on for UNT and that vomits that hatred on various forums all over the net. I don't think he's ever provided an actual accounting for why he despises UNT so much, or what UNT ever did to him. Checkfacts (or whatever of your multiple identities is currently manifesting itself), We get that you think UNT is steaming pile of shit. You've been making that clear for years now. If you really want to make some kind of impact why don't you see if you can talk to UNT officials and get an audience to hear your complaints. This is a fan board for people who actually attended and care for our university. I don't get your psychlogical need to come over here and other places and constantly trash the school. It seriously just makes you look like a very troubled, unstable, and pathetic individual that doesn't have anything better to do other than mount a negative campaign against a university all over the Internet. It's sad, but I don't feel sorry for you. Now piss off. -
Karl Benson ready to get to work on new-look Sun Belt Conference
UNTX replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
No, you haven't "passed us", but you are very close to us. Texas State-San Marcos reported $33.5M In research expenditures for FY 2011 and UNT reported $37.5M for the same period. UNT's figure represented a 20 percent increase over 2010. As our engineering programs mature expenditures should increase. UNT is producing the level of research it is at what heretofore has largely been a liberal arts university. Yes, your grad rates are higher but your admission standards are lower, and UNT is raising its standards this coming fall. Congrats on JUST RECENTLY surpassing us in endowment funds. I don't expect that to last. -
Benson's move could open doors for UTSA, Texas State
UNTX replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Any SBC expansion should NOT include throwing a preserver to USU, SJSU, and Idaho, even if it were for football only. I never want to see my team play in that damn airplane hanger in Moscow, ID ever again. As for Texas State-San Marcos and UTSA, I'm barely lukewarm to the idea of their inclusion. But, if we were to be in a SBC with them, we'd better damn well take care of business against them on the field. -
"IF"...We Don't Get In This Go Around How Will You...
UNTX replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
The only way I'd be fit to be tied if if somehow UTSA got in over us. Hopefully that's unlikely to happen. If we don't get in and LTU doesn't either I think there could be an opportunity to expand the Belt into divisions that may long term prove to be a benefit to us and a benefit in terms of increasing the Belt's strength and in terms of geographic sensibility that seems to be rare these days. -
SMU Board mentions UNT as possible CUSA replacement
UNTX replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Oh good grief. This rodrod5 I think is our old friend with an axe to grind against UNT that has formerly gone by Checkfacts and TodgeRodge. This guy has serious issues and is trashing us over on the WAC board as well. -
That must have been the "official" attendance, as the real butts in seats looked to be maybe 40 percent of that.

Wow. Insane game. My voice is so going to be shot the next couple of days. Let's get a win at ULL and see if we can top the crowd size tonight next Saturday when we host ASU in a nationally televised game! GMG!!
-
Definitely watching and rooting for the Belt to go 2-1 in bowl games. SBC greater than than MAC!!

My thoughts exactly. Helwig started out with a bang (largely due to efforts of his initial staff) then inexplicably dropped the ball.
