  1. Exactly. Isn't Mac like 59 years old? I saw his age as a positive when we hired him. In that should he turn it around he might be content to stay here until he retired? Still hopeful that's the case.
  2. Plus 1,000 if I could. Anyone going over to another conference's or school's board who vomits tons of univited UNT specific information accomplishes nothing except to make us look ridiculous. Combine it with fonts of varying size, colors, and tons of emoticons makes us look beyond ridiculous. It's probably OK to participate if 1) they bring us up and 2) they state something about us that is wrong or off. Even then you should just correct them and be quick, clear and polite about it.
  3. Doubt there would ever be a tram, not in the short to intermediate term anyway. Not for this price anyway.
  4. Where in that article does it say anything about a tram? Am I missing it?
  5. Why is it necessarily troubling? Our admission standards are slightly higher than theirs and we have a higher graduation rate. Being LARGE doesn't mean GOOD. If you mean troubling in terms of their appeal versus ours in attracting students then I would focus more on the number of applicants annually at each school and the number we turn away compared to them. I'm pretty sure we have them beat there although it may be a slight edge. I'd much rather see us raise standards, attain a more qualified student body, and increase our national ranking than just be bigger than someone.
  6. The yellow and black side of their uniforms remind me of crash test dummies.
  7. I noticed that right off as well. I'm guessing maybe that they were counting only those that occured during the Fouts Field era?
  8. It's been reported that we sold 2,745 last year and that this year we've seen a 70 to 80% increase thus far. Going with 80% that would put us around 5K? One day we'll hopefully get to where 10K is the baseline.
  9. Never cared for the "UNT" and much prefer "North Texas". There's always the potential for some to add that particular consonant to the front of it. And when you spell check something with "UNT" in it.......it usually comes back with "nut". Screw all of that!
  10. I believe you can only select general admission at this stage when putting down a deposit, as seat selection has yet to take place and they cannot assign specific sections or seats just yet. If you go ahead and put down your deposit, the balance will be applied to your account accordingly for the section you ultimately want and you can settle the net balance of your account at the time when you're able to specify your preferred section, which should be soon.
  11. They might be basing their review on Scout - which shows only 2 three star players for us (Sampson and Warner) or ESPN which also shows only 2 (this time Swarn and Warner). Only Rivals shows us with five.
  12. UTEP and UH also have lower admission standards than UNT, as does Marshall. UTEP is virtually open admissions and UH has had lower admission standards than UNT at least since 1996. That will change in 2012 when UH raises theirs in two phases (increases yet again in 2014). We need to be increasing our standards as well, but it's not hard to conduct some quick and easy research and find that UNT's stated standards for general, unconditional freshman admission are the fifth highest in the state for public universities, behind UT, TAMU, UTD, and TTU. But knowing any of that wouldn't fit in with SMU's preferred view of North Texas. So they remain ignorant a$$holes.
  13. This. Plus, if the SBC invites LTU and NMSU you might very well close the door for the foreseeable future on TSU-SM and UTSA's ability to move up which I see as a good thing. There are too many FBS schools in Texas fighting for recruits and I think the potential risks of them moving up outweigh the rewards. Plus if the WAC were to survive you might have even more in Texas trying to move up like Lamar or even Stephen and Sam. Ugh!!!!
  14. According to the MWC fans on their board, they would MUCH rather have UTSA and/or Texas State over us. It's been making me want to vomit reading the lovefest they've been having for our former Southland mates over the last few days. I don't get it but I'm just thankful it would be conference school presidents making this kind of decision and not the ignorant/naive fans on this site. MWC Discussion 1 MWC Discussion 2
  15. I agree with Stebo on most of how this sounded, but I do like how the Fight Song sounded with the additional complexity to it.
  16. That was a great game and comeback by FIU. Now let's make it 3 and 0 against the MAC, as the MUTS are up next vs. Miami-OH.
  17. AMEN!!!! Great win for the program. And the folks on here who never make it to the PIT, we have the following home games over the holidays and it would be a great time to get your asses to the PIT and get some fresh air with the family/friends: Dec. 28th - Okla Panhandle State @ 7:00 PM Dec. 30th - UALR (a SOLID SBC opponent and our first home conference game)@ 7:00 PM
  18. Curious to see if this GREAT win by our Mean Green gets a mention on the local newscasts tonight. Or.........if it'll get brushed under the damn rug like our win over Tech. Keeping my fingers crossed we get that mention!
  19. When I first learned of this I was extremely disappointed. I get the whole thing of incentivizing people into the club seats, that's fine, but I don't get ruining what was once billed as the "Touchdown Terrace" by obstructing it with the video scoreboard. Even if not used for the same purposes as the deck was used at Fouts, it at least was a valuable asset that could be used to host other groups, events, etc. that would have provided a great setting and view of the field. At some point, once the club level seats were sold out they might have been able to resurrect the "MG Club Deck" at this spot to further incentivize current and future MG Club members. Now, the AC which was designed to be the end-zone complex, and this valuable terrace will be obstructed by the scoreboard - when the scoreboard should have been over the wing zone as originally planned. Not sure what the actual, and maybe shortsighed reasoning behind that change was. Having said all of that, I'm just happy we have a great new stadium opening up and will greatly enjoy and appreciate it one way or the other. But like you, I was surprised when I learned of this as well.
  20. Outside of Tech, Rice, and obviously Kansas - this game should have been a strategic priority. SHSU is arguably the best team we face between now and the SBC tournament with the clear exception of LSU (or maybe WKU given their OOC schedule). Losing is one thing, but to get boogered? Very disappointing.
  21. I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday, that the Spring Game would have to be at Fouts. So really one more time for the old gal - then it's really over!
  22. I am soooo holding out hope for this to happen. Since Mike and Dan coached for a year together at USF, maybe it will. It's at least good to hear MC is open to discussing the option. Hopefully DM will want him on staff and RV can double his current salary (if not more so) to make it happen. I think we'd have to double it to get anywhere close to what he was making as OC at USF.
  23. Most likely due to the residual funds remaining from the dedicated athletics fee after debt service on the stadium. Thank God for our students approving it. Now we need to raise it to the maximum $20.00/hour, as quickly as possible (to match what freakin' UTSA and TSU-SM and others within the state are already charging).
