  1. I can't say that I'd blame SL for leaving, whenever P5 suitors come-a-knocking, but I hope leadership is able to make the choice very difficult for him. If we're as serious about athletics as we say we are now, we need to be willing to match any offer. It might be just the financial part of what the big schools can offer, but if we make a good case, and he chooses to leave, more power to him. Can't fault a guy for trying to make his way in life. With that said, if I were a SEC or Big12 AD, I'd wait another year or two for him. As much as I love this team, they have overperformed at times. I think a bigger sample size would tell us more about Seth and what he brings to the table.
  2. I wasn't expecting much on defense, but holy shit, this is a terrible showing. We've stopped them, what? Once? I get this is what Army does, but a stop or two would be great. Doesn't look great for us.
  3. I think the fumble stood because of the lack of a clear recovery after the fact.
  4. 8 should be DQ'd. Not really sure what the review official was seeing.
  5. Impressed with the game and the broadcast so far.
  6. I wish they sold it online! Can't drive 5 hours for a shirt, although I really want to.
  7. Denton is now known across the country as a really cool college town. It's really great to see.
  8. They're making themselves look like neanderthals by complaining about "PC culture" while they're just being plain sexist assholes. At the same time, whoever that UNT fan is trolling on their forums, he needs to take a look in the mirror. UNT has a long and storied history of dumb decisions and ineptitude. Best not to give anyone fuel
  9. UTSA fans think their AD position is a way better job than it actually is. They have major issues with facilities.
  10. Put a "Beat Whomever" sign in front of each entrance at the Union and the Rec. Problem solved
  11. They just need to stop pretending and drop down. Also, to me this is just a sign that the FBS is broken, and something needs to change. Either the herd (in terms of bowls and teams) needs thinning, or they need to put an emphasis on regional bowls to control costs.
  12. I have an upvote for anyone who can get a picture of it
  13. Totally agree. At best it's just a corny trend. At worst, it's using the flag as a marketing ploy. Give free/discounted tickets to active duty/veterans or donate to a cause. Changing the logo is just lip service in my opinion.
  14. As long as the structure was up to building standards, and was signed off by a licensed architect, and the city's chief building officer, there's not too much to blame the apartment complex for. Other than not enforcing its own rules about max occupancy. Multifamily structures just aren't built to withstand that much pressure per sq ft. I'll be damned if the Denton Double isn't the best bang for your buck in any American college town
  15. According to a bartender at Lucky Lou's, Denton County is the top county consumer of Jim Beam in America... Not sure if that's a good or bad thing
  16. Some of my friends who went to more known schools have been commenting that they didn't know North Texas partied this hard. This is major party street cred.
  17. This should be the default home uniform. So much fire
  18. Having spent time in the Graduate Student Council, and interfacing with the Administration of both my department, the colleges, and the University as a whole (I graduated in 16), it's fair to say that there is a big contingent of the powers that be, who could give a fat sh** about athletics. There's no prestige attached to UNT athletics, especially football. So it makes it that much easier to argue against dedicating further resources to it. It has nothing to do with Music. It's realism from academics and administrators who see the fallacy in joining an athletics arms race like... 30 years too late. UNT hasn't lived up to its potential in many avenues. For example, the University of Houston is younger than UNT, and beat UNT to the Tier 1 Carnegie classification. Not sure why, but it finally seems like UNT is finally starting to get serious about everything.
  19. Sure this argument makes sense if you ignore decades of UNT incompetence. We might as well be creating a football culture from the ground up. You have a generation that has always viewed North Texas as a football laughing stock. Students would rather go visit their friends at UT, A&M, or TCU than walk across 35 for a free game. That reality is not going to change after one winning season since 2013. Casual fans like winning teams.
  20. I'm beyond excited for this game. I'll be there, but I'm not sure I'll remember it. Alumni lacrosse game in the AM + the obligatory tailgate = too many beers. GMG
  21. I think that's one of the problems with ESPN3. Sure by paying for cable you get access to a wide cross section of games, but a lot of them (90 percent of UNT games) aren't great quality and they're piggybacking off whatever yokels are calling the game. The UTSA game with annoying SA announcers comes to mind. That's where I think Stadium/FB fills a void. Not sure how they monetize it, but if they're able to, they're on to something.
  22. I thought the stream was great. Good quality, no buffering, and good commentary. If this is the future of watching college football, I'm totally okay with it. Makes ESPN3 look very last year.
  23. People don't want to hear this, but its spot on. I think we all know the broad strokes of what is going to happen. As you allude to, the sh** is going to hit the fan, and the media landscape is going to be a huge driver of what is to come out of it all. The AAC and MW are the absolute best any G5 can hope for. Houston did it. Other G5 teams like USF did it too. UNT... well... "tried"
