  1. Okay, Marshall, La Tech and W Kentucky all have sub-par facilities (La tech football stadium looks awful, yes they built an end zone facility, big woop, looks really out of place on that field) , bad locations and we can't equal their recruiting, WTF! This is just a case of incompetence from the coaching staff; UNT is hard place to recruit to? bull! Run an offense that kids want to run, and get coaches that can paint the dream, shouldn't be a problem. Hire the right coach and get rid of RV! Yes, win or your @ass is gone!
  2. He's the offensive coordinator? Where do we stand in rankings in offense, uh, almost dead last and you want to keep this guy. Who's suppose to recruit QB's at UNT, he was! OMG we have the worst group of QB's in division-1, I mean these guys couldn't start for Southlake or Allen high school. Like I said, strip everything down to the studs and start over...
  3. DM Smith is awful! If you think we have a chance to win with this guy you're crazy. This guy can't throw a "simple" swing pass or throw with any accuracy. Yeah, he can run so big deal, if you can't throw the ball you have no chance of winning. We need to tear this team down to the studs and rebuild, plain and simple...
  4. RV has done a terrible job at home and home with similar conference, AAC or power 5 teams; we have to start bring those teams to Apogee. Our fans want to see it and should be very attainable. RV can't negotiate or doesn't try. We need a marquee game every year; SMU at home is a good one, but we should play U of H every year for sure, good rivalry and similar university and yes, we need Texas State in C-USA as well.
  5. Really? We need the best man for the job, black, white or brown! No token hires, just the best hire for god sake!!! One more bad hire and you may see athletics disappear for good, so this better be a good one!
  6. Hey everyone is this game blacked out in DFW? Direct TV???
  7. What channel on direct TV in Dallas, is it HD?
  8. Rick, will screw this up with the wrong hire, he has made bad hires throughout his career why stop now?
  9. First, I have known Rick for over 10 years, I donated $50,000. to the stadium campaign and was happy to do it for my Alma mater; I've donated over $250,000 over the last 35 years, yes, it's been a long and frustrating road...Rick has done more than any of the athletic directors combined. Seriously, the only one that had a clue was Craig Helwig who became an asshole and combative to not only the alumni but to his bosses. That's why he got fired... Rick stayed the course through out his years at UNT and had the good fortune to have a much bigger budget than all the others. The student athletic fee change everything for UNT athletics, Rick had a major roll in getting that done, you should thank him. However, over the last few years he has become very negative in his approach to alumni and donors, myself included. Somehow he believes that the alumni should do their part by showing up in mass for games; this has frustrated him personally and that has trickled down to everyone else, I would assume his employees have gotten the brunt of his being in a bad mood all the time. I have explained to him, "you have to give a alumni/fans a reason to show up". You have to promote and advertise, plain and simple; he refuses to do this on any level. Not only has he made terrible choices for coaches which is the kiss of death for any athletic program. In these cases, like in the real world of corporate america, sometimes a change at the CEO level can make all the difference to the whole organization; I believe it's time for a change!
  10. No! Briles is our guy, forget Smiley for god sake! What we want a small timer here to learn how to be a big timer, no thank you!, no! Briles has been under the direction his father and knows the offense and where to and who to recruit!!!
  11. He obviously sees the hand writing on the wall at SMU and wants out ASAP!
  12. Skip, first, thank you for your recent defense of the university of North Texas...good to know you remember your time there. Just so you know the UNT campus is not "little" by any means, maybe back in the day, but they have 38,000 students and is the 3rd largest university in the state of Texas. UNT is the 25th largest university in the US...In 2011 they built a new stadium that may be the best mid-major stadium in the country. Very large market (DFW) with a large huge student body= success in athletics, we're down now, but we'll be back soon. Keep this in mind.
  13. yeah, and we can run the wishbone, you're a complete idiot!
  14. You've got to be kidding me, D Smith has a decent long ball, not good, decent, but he's like a Quinci Carter of the Cowboys, mobile, but can't hit a target, over throws, under throws, come on, really, you can either throw or you can't. Way too late to try to teach someone to throw accurately, should have developed by 7th grade. Next year start over, no more transfers start fresh from the bottom.
  15. No re-tread damn it! Hire someone that has recruited in the state of Texas recently and has ties to Texas high school football. How about that Briles kid???
  16. OMG, the worst defensive players I've ever seen in my 35 years of watching UNT football; my god the tackling was like a girl's pillow fight... Just embarrassing to the students and alumni. We're the laughing stock of the country with the lost last week and to hear the CBS commentators comment about how bad we were was just awful, we are a fucking joke! I'm done with this team forever!!!

  18. Bull, this is a great job and many, many people want it! Shouldn't be hard to recruit to at all, we have great facilities, great location and good support. Sitting right in the middle of the best football in America. Boise State, yeah right, has to recruit California and all over the west coast. Saying North Texas is a tough sell is ridiculous, ton of players in our backyard; coaches have to get off their ass and reach out to every players that will listen. Recruiting is like fraternity rush, you have to go to them and be convincing, don't expect players to be calling you. Todd Dodge thought that, he said, "hey, I'm the greatest high school coach in Texas ever, why should I have to reach out to recruits they should be calling me... It doesn't work that way!
  19. Are you out of your mind??? He is combative and non-compliant, along with that he's lazy and stupid!
  20. no way we keep him as the new coach, we need to clean house period!
  21. Rick must go! Well said, many coaches across the country want this job. Let's just pick the right one this time!
