  1. Sure I can't prove if but I'll allow you to examine the drop off between RB1 and RB2. Not hard to see the offense ran through him. Regarding the other stuff of he wouldn't be getting his NFL payday without college football, if college sports disappeared, there would be other ways for pro teams to scout players for their rosters. This may blow your mind but college sports aren't a thing in the rest of the world the way they are here. Pro teams have academies that develop players. There are also lower level leagues that players come up through. It may not be as apparent in football because it's only played in North America but look at hockey and to a lesser extent basketball to see that players come from overseas having grown up in systems that don't include college sports. The NCAA - NFL/NBA relationship is what causes the "need" for college sports to go pro. They could do without college sports and be just fine but money won't allow it and that's fine but let's not act like the players should be on their knees thanking the NCAA and college teams for the medium to showcase their talents. A local example happening right now is basketball players going to the G-League Ignite for a year before being drafted to the NBA without the "need" for college sports.
  2. I like his plan to get some TX HS coaches on staff. Being a west Texas guy, he's got a legitimate understanding of the value Texans place in relationships. Your word is everything when you get out of the major cities.
  3. Would be incredible to pull out a win in his last game. Believe he's won the only bowl he's been a HC in.
  4. But what does it matter? If it's about the cost of sending him and the gifts he received, they're literally not going without his play. His performance on the field got them to the bowl game and the payouts that accompany the invite. If it's about gameplan, next man up! He's not here next year anyways so it's an opportunity for others on the depth chart to show what they can do for next year. This entire post is literally "old man yelling at clouds." Yelling for no reason other than to yell.
  5. Read above. They made it to this bowl and the school got the payout partially thanks to him. He's accounted for nearly a third of their total offense. They don't make it to this bowl and get the payout without him. And really? A couple thousand dollars in gifts compared to what they've made off his back? They're not donating gifts for charity. They're doing fine. Get drafted and make your money, McBride.
  6. Doesn't matter. If he gets injured, his career is over before it started. If you want to make it about money and cost to go to the Bahamas, the university got $225k for the bowl game. They wouldn't have made it without him. I'm sure they've made more than enough money off his play to cover his trip.
  7. This is so ridiculous. Easy to complain about his actions when you'd never be in a position to do the same. He's likely going to get drafted and live out his dreams while getting paid. If he plays this meaningless bowl and gets hurt, all that goes down the drain. Most of us will never be in the position to lose our careers due to an injury. Give me a break.
  8. Played at UNC and was drafted by the Cowboys. Wonder if this is in the works for him to be tweeting about it.
  9. Agree on the UTSA stance. Frank Harris getting a 6th season has benefited them tremendously in this conference transition. I'm curious as to whether or not he'll actually stay for next year. I know he has said he would but if he gets word NFL teams are seriously interested, he'd be wrong not to declare. What makes you view Tulsa as a toss up? They're also breaking in a new HC and I believe they'll also be needing a new QB for next year.
  10. Y'all call me crazy but I'm thinking 8-4 next season pending who leaves in the portal. If nobody significant leaves, it'll be a good first year in the AAC. SL left the cupboard full. There's a lot of talent here on both sides of the ball and 7-6 is an indictment on SL never quite figuring out how to win. Also an indictment on Aune who, while a talented QB, does not play winning football. The Cal - Win, I believe their QB is a 5th year senior. He was new to Cal this year and was decent. They'll be breaking in a new QB as well to start off the season on the road. Huge opportunity for us, here. @ La Tech - Win ACU - Win UTSA - Toss up, should have won the first game this year. Loaded with seniors on both sides of the ball. Next year's roster should look very different but I'm not familiar with how many of their seniors get a 5th year due to covid and who doesn't. Calling a toss up for that reason. @ Tulsa - win Memphis - loss, underachieving this year. Expect a bounce back season next year @SMU - Loss, I think we'll see a close game. UAB - Win, huge letdown this year but I believe we had the better team even though the staff pooped their pants. @Tulane - loss Temple - Win @ Navy - Win, new HC incoming 7-3 on here since there's an unknown game and UTSA is a toss up IMO. I'll probably look silly in a year but this is how I'm feeling based on the talent this roster currently has.
  11. It was said yesterday on a since-deleted thread that he got a much larger assistant pool than SL as a result of the lower salary. I'm very skeptical of this hire but that strategy, it true, makes me feel better. It's not just about HC, the assistants have to be elite too.
  12. Admittedly, I don't watch them play much. As a whole, what he's done at Coastal Carolina is incredible. I could see him reuniting with his old coach at Liberty. Never been a big fan of Spencer Sanders. I'm sure Morris has a few guys he's contacted. Will be exciting to see who's the starter next year. Our receiving corps is incredible. Just need to get them the dang ball.
  13. Would rather go after Grayson McCall to jumpstart the offense but if he's already visiting with Auburn, that may not be an option for us.
  14. Except WSU will bring in a new OC who will probably want some of his own guys. Not saying all will be replaced but surely some of Morris' old position coaches at WSU are going to become available.
  15. Absolutely. I remember a few years back when NFL defenses were making adjustments to defend the air raid because so many players were coming into the NFL having played in an air raid in college and NFL offenses were starting to scheme to fit those players' strengths. I realize Leach wasn't alone in creating that offense but with his coaching tree, it's his reach that made the impact.
  16. No, hence why I said "feels." Just surprised he's the hire. People keep talking about winning at UIW and I get it was a new a program but barely above .500 at the FCS level doesn't move the needle for me. He's been coaching for 12 years total and now we're going to expect him to lead us as we move into a better conference. Meh.
  17. Initially not a fan. On paper, he's obviously a good coach. Just not the hire I'd have thought the admin would make to lead UNT into a new conference. Feels like better options turned down UNT.
  18. From Denton and played at UTEP. Interesting.
  19. My thoughts exactly on Riley. I see him like I see Littrell 7 years ago except with a bit more name appeal, especially locally. My issue with Riley is the same as what we saw with SL, though. If he doesn't immediately have huge success (10+ win seasons) and get hired away, I fear he won't sustain whatever early success he experiences and we'll hover around .500 for his tenure. I think Fuente could have immediate success and sustain it. I think SL's biggest downfall was his inability to fill open coaching vacancies after his initial assistants were hired away. In other words, his network may not have been big enough which is something that comes with time. I do think G Riley has bigger upside than SL had 7 years ago so I'm ok with it (not that I have a say).
  20. Kind of hope they give the Leach news a couple days to make a formal announcement. Let him have the news cycle for a bit out of respect. He deserves it.
  21. I was thinking about Leach this morning and how much impact he's had on football. It's hard to find an FBS team that hasn't had a Leach disciple on staff. In this story alone, you've got Littrell and Heupel. Last night, you had Kingsbury coaching Monday night footfall. Dave Aranda, Neal Brown, Graham Harrell, Cumbie, Dykes, Holgerson, Lincoln Riley, Spavital and the list goes on. Outside of Saban, I can't think of a more impactful modern day coach. Nearly every game we watch today has a bit of Leach in it. Incredible legacy.
  22. It's family violence which the state can choose to pick-up charges regardless of if she requests to drop them.
  23. Bill O'Brien? Would certainly be a big name. Their DC is also very young and was apparently linked to the LA Lafayette job last year.
  24. Been catching up on this... I wonder if Mattress Mack wanting to be involved is really just that he sees the AAC as a conference where he can throw enough money at UNT where we can have some success and make championship games/12 team playoffs so he can make more big game bets. UH going to the Big 12 is great but your money doesn't go as far from a gambling perspective. If they don't make playoffs or conference championship games, there's no big games to bet on. Don't know much about the guy but it sure does seem like everything he does has a money angle.
