  1. Have you looked at the other teams around our ranking every single time or are you only looking at UNT? Point spread is set by Vegas and moves based on incoming bets. It has absolutely nothing to do with NET ranking which but I guess if you've set in your mind that point spread matters, I can't change your mind on that. UAB just went up two spots yesterday without playing a game. Wonder what the point spread against "day off" was.
  2. Could it be that FIU is Quad 4 and the NET places very little value on those games unless you lose? This is where conference weakness affects us. FIU win isn't quality enough to keep us from moving down when other teams are playing Quad 1 and Quad 2 wins all over their conference slate. The fact we moved up from 56 to 50 between FAU and FIU tells you we moved up because other teams also lost. We then drop down some after FIU because it's the lowest Quad win you can get. I'm not expecting a WKU win to move us much but MTSU should be Quad 2 as long as they don't drop before we play them. A win there should push us back into the 40s.
  3. Eady and Stone specifically were actually taking shots which was nice. Offense seemed more fluid.
  4. Alright good job on that last series, Stone. Redeemed yourself a bit for the open air ball.
  5. I usually defend Stone but he's been horrendous today.

  7. Regarding ignoring the midrange, I think it's just way of analytics these days. Like in the NBA, the midrange game is dead. Analytics say the most efficient scoring comes from shots 2 feet from the basket or 3 point line. Everything else is not worth it. I think it's terrible but I guess analytics knows best. In the NBA, outside of a few elite midrange guys like Derozan, Chris Paul, LeBron, and Durant, most in the NBA aren't even looking for that shot anymore. Notice those 4 are not young talents either. We shouldn't expect many midrange killers moving forward. About Sissoko, I don't get it. He's played well in limited minutes. He's got a big frame and it appears by physique he'd be tough to bully around. I feel he could have made a difference in there when Abou got into foul trouble. I noticed he didn't have the warm-up top on at one point in the second half and I kept thinking he was going to come in but it never happened. The freshman Moore was another I thought could have helped. He's been an efficient scorer in limited minutes and we were desperate for a basket late. Why not throw somebody else in and see what they can do? I don't know. I trust Mac, his results here deserve it, but his stubbornness with personnel at times when what's in the game isn't working is reminiscent of another coach we recently got rid of.
  8. Absolutely. Helps to get the shots up too. He's clearly not a focus on offense which is fine but he's not going to score double digits shooting twice per game either. He struggled early in the season, as did most of the team. The way the offense is being ran isn't conducive to scoring for any of them. It's not necessarily the pace, it's the endless dribbling and passes around the 3 line without attacking the paint until late in the clock. Outside of Perry and occasionally Rubin, I didn't see anybody try to break down the defense. Need more of that.
  9. Back home following the hour and a half drive from the Pit. Great game overall. Shame we couldn't buy a bucket late in the game. Couldn't buy a 3 nearly all game. Huntsberry needs to get back to attacking the rim. MAKE THEIR BIG GUYS PLAY DEFENSE. Had we taken their 7 footer out by way of foul trouble, we'd have won. The best way to do that is attacking the paint. Of course, the end of game scoring drought didn't help. We played well enough to win but couldn't close it out. Officiating was odd with the late calls but they were bad on all ends. Our biggest issue is relying on the 3 ball. I'll be back Saturday with 12 other folks.
  10. Stone is arguably our best defender so far this season. The amount of hustle plays he makes is incredible. What Scott is on offense in terms of hustle, Stone is on defense. Just today I counted several plays where his hustle prevented a basket, such as the FAU fastbreak where they missed a layup (he sprinted the length of the court and got a hand in the way of a clean gather), prevented a clean pass in the paint that resulted in a turnover, getting positioning to prevent any entry pass at all, and just overall solid defense. Not everybody will contribute scoring. That's not his strength yet. It's his defense that's been worthy of the scholarship so far.
  11. What if the OC is a friend of his who's been in Denton the past 7 years? Only kidding.
  12. I'd be surprised if the MW got more than 1 at-large this year considering their 2 bids went 0-2 in 2019, 2 bids went 0-2 in 2021, and their 4 bids went 0-4 this past tourney. Guess we'll see if they're still the darlings despite no tournament wins since 2018. I realize it's about this season's performance but these are still humans making the decisions.
  13. AP poll is a popularity contest. You're probably right that UAB may not get an at-large as things stand. I think we'd have the best bet based on strength of schedule. Ours this year is better than UAB and FAU and is better than Wyoming, Colorado State, and Boise State last year who all made the tourney. Our non-conference SOS was good last year but our overall SOS was average. Factor in we were 5-3 in non-conference and that non-conference SOS became irrelevant. Just have to take care of business but there's definitely an avenue for CUSA getting 2 bids. Lots of basketball left. I'd rather a different fanbase worry about that while our guys snatch the AQ.
  14. I don't think so but I've read so much between here and Twitter that I may have blended some of this info lol. Oh well.
  15. NCAA Evaluation Tool is all that's used by the NCAA for tournament evaluation. It replaced the RPI and does not take RPI or Kenpom into account. The NET is all we should be worried about come March.
  16. They won't drop much regardless of how bad UNT beats FAU (if we win) and same if we lose. Y'all, FAU being ranked 12th is great for us as a conference. Any loss to them barely affects us. If they lose to us on the road, it barely affects them. Win-win for the conference. Having several Quad 1 games (against top 75 for road games, top 30 for home) is how you keep a high ranking as long as you handle the quad 3s and 4s. Who cares if they're worthy of being ranked 12th. It helps us.
  17. Gotcha. Thought I'd seen somewhere where he was encouraged to do so but guess not.
  18. Age is irrelevant. Plenty of veterans with only 1 year of eligibility left get offers when teams need a spot on the 2-deep. 1 year of eligibility is the same whether they're 22 or 32.
  19. The guy likely was encouraged to go in the portal by our new coaching staff and y'all are mad at him? Makes no sense. Not his fault he didn't fit what the new staff wants to do.
  20. I don't think my brother is going to make the hour drive in hopes they take care if it at the gate. He's got no ties to UNT other than myself. I sent an email and Facebook message in hopes we can get it resolved before GameDay. Thanks!
  21. Does anybody know how to reach somebody with the ticket office when they're closed for holiday break? My brother bought tickets using this promo but when he completed the order, the 3 promo tickets didn't get added even though he added them on the order screen so now he only has 1 ticket... tried calling both ticket office numbers but they're closed for the holidays. Trying to get people to games but it sucks there's no customer service available to help with issues that arise.
  22. Look, I lurk on both. Some of his basketball points are valid, some aren't, and many are in between. This Roberts take was completely ridiculous. An honorable mention all conference players will get some looks.
  23. I see Mike Ekeler is keeping his eyes on UNT.
  24. We didn't go up with this win. UAB went up 8 spots with their home win against Charlotte who only dropped 1 due to UAB on the road being a Quad 1 game. The value of having several teams in the top 75 is huge. Side note, UMass and Grand Canyon are 11 and 21 spots away from becoming Quad 2 wins for us. I think Grand Canyon can make it if they go on a run in conference play. UMass really doesn't have many opportunities for quality wins in conference play so there's very little room for error.
