In no particular order: 1. This is entirely on the NCAA for castrating itself and having no regulatory authority over this whole deal. It’s hard for me to justify being mad at a kid (even though I am) for entering the portal with the way NIL is and their high ideas of improving draft status. 2. Culture these days has changed to the point where it is ultimately about the self and not the team. While I understand, we’ve gone way too far with this as a society. So part of it is on how they’re raised and part if it is on their selfishness (more than one thing can be true at the same time and we sometimes forget that). 3. It’d be so killer if Cam Ward wanted to come connect back with Eric. 4. I’d hate to have to navigate this chaos as a coach these days. 5. My favorite thing on earth (CFB) is currently disgusting me. 6. To the “drop football” crowd (and I say this with respect), nut up. Be tough. That means with dollars and tickets and all of that, assuming you care. Divesting right now is a death spiral. We need to push for actual regulation reform in the meantime so this chaos calms down and we regret each dollar spent less as it gets fixed…but if we give up, this whole thing is gone. I don’t desire that future for my University, for my kids, for the memories I hope to make. Don’t become one to the alumni we are all already disappointed in. Hold the f’n rope and let’s stay in this thing. 7. In my heart, I’m pissed as hell at CR for this. That really blows. In my head, he’s just playing the game within the rules he’s afforded. First, I appreciate your posts. You’re pretty level headed and see things pretty clearly. Not sure what brings you around these parts but I’m glad you’re around. To me, we need genuine regulation. Either re-empower the NCAA or come up with something different. I’m not sure why we’d come up with something different when there’s already an infrastructure. I think the TV deals shifted the power from the regulatory authority to the conferences/schools. For a time, that was good. I don’t necessarily want the old NCAA back but we have got to have governance over this thing really fast before it’s all in ruins if it isn’t already. It’s so sad to me to see something I’ve loved all my life look the way it does today.

Infuriating turn of events

This team is so strange. Has such a hard time playing complimentary football. Hugh improvements are happening but giving up big plays late has been death. I hate it cause I know these kids are working hard to get better. I agree Caponi has to go. The World Series and NFL Sunday was a convenient distraction this weekend but I'm reliving the end of that game today and it is such a kick to the nuts. We are seeing positive strides but Ls are Ls and Ws are Ws.

I was saying yesterday to family, we should really be 5-1. Cal flat out beat us. But we should’ve beat FIU and Navy. We are good enough to have done that. We didn’t but we were capable. We are actually capable of being 5-1. We can’t add defensive girth to the box this season, but obviously that will be a focus in the off season. Point is, we can compete. We are growing a bunch and I like our trajectory. I don’t know if we will be bowl eligible and I honestly don’t expect it but we are so close to being competitive with any team we have on our schedule.

Yeah that kinda sucks and at least Seth would always talk into Brett’s Yakback. That said, Eric doesn’t hide. He always faces the music, just maybe not right away. And he’s always real about it.

Let me just clarify my whole position, we suck and it’s unacceptable. We have a ton of bad players. We have got to fix that fast. Eric is not an idiot. He knows the reality that we all do. This is the chicken and egg thing. We will never catch up unless we buy. I hope this is a short term problem and the NCAA gets ahold of this problem bud in the interim, if we want to compete, we need better players and that literally costs money. I hate it. It’s stupid. But it’s the way it is. I really hope it doesn’t stay that way.

I actually respectfully, disagree. I think Eric is a great coach. Sure, he’s learning and sorting through shit from a HC perspective. We, as a University and fanbase, just don’t provide the support necessary at the level we have to to achieve the success we expect. We are cheap. If you care, pay. And don’t stop. Because our competitors won’t stop. This is a money game now more than ever. But, we are a middle class school and that’s what we will get unless we decide to fight for it as a FANBASE. Money is the key. Do what you can guys. Whatever it is. If you want it to be different, find a way to give more. I know that sounds sucky but it’s the truth.

This is 100% correct. With proper technique the number of down linemen doesn’t matter. Having the ability to move an extra guy around actually helps in most situations. Watch Big 12 defenses do this well. Just sticking another hand in the dirt isn’t the magic elixir so many on this board think it is. It’s technique. Attacking blockers and jamming up assignments. We’ve just been pushed around and out of position. This is a great post that needed to be said!
