  1. Lolz, okay bud. Good luck to your heart this year.
  2. The argument there would be that’s in Year 7 of a program in Conference USA vs Year 1 of a new program in a better conference. I agree in the expectations of 7+ wins but I think it’s important to point out that distinction here.
  3. I'm taking the 50% that you're just being sarcastic on this
  4. The Athletic is worth the $5/mo, I promise
  5. I’m all for baseball after the AC is done. I think we have the means to work through basketball practice facilities etc. I love the Pit and would love to see if survive somehow. I’d also love to see a more intimate arena. Bottom line is we have to do our part collectively as donors to see these things happen. What I like about baseball, apart from just being a fan. is it continues fan engagement which perpetuates moments for more fundraising. That said, I am all for a new arena at the same time and our basketball program deserves investment. We just need more dollars, attendance and investment. We way overdo the title ix compliance but I agree that some men’s Olympic sports are worth cutting for baseball. Golf must stay, we have a great history there and our guys can play.
  6. Gotdang I love that take! I picked SMU because I want us to pursue that rivalry as long as we can. It’s just great for CFB in the metroplex. That said I can’t argue with your take and I love the deep historic element and I’m so grateful we are back to finally being on stage with some of these old Gulf/MVC/Metro conference foes who we should have been playing with this whole damn time. It’s a great time to be an Eagle!
  7. I hate sack hate as much as you guys and excuses are always lame. I do think it’s a good thing he’s speaking up about this though just because it’s the truth more than likely and he’s not only doing that on behalf of his team but plenty of other schools, whether intentional or not.
  8. Eric Capper. Longtime rally man in the AD. He’s seen a whole lotta this thing since 2001. https://meangreensports.com/staff-directory/eric-capper/17
  9. It’s great to feel hopeful and I agree. 6 years or so ago we were feeling pretty good and it sorta fizzled and that probably has a lot of our fanbase a little sheepish this go round, but I’d encourage folks to let themselves be excited. What’s different is this foundation is stronger. It’s been building. We have a ways to go but we have skins on the wall now and more stability and a new conference worth better competition and more money to do it in.
  10. Same…all I’ve looked at is ESPN stats but it wasn’t huge impact stuff. Maybe there’s more to the story.
  11. What do we know about Shareef Mitchel from Creighton?
  12. I’m confused what your position is. We let it slip but you don’t like the idea of being off campus?
  13. Haha surely this is satire. The small motel lobby wielding such power against the convention hotel industry and the City.
  14. To consider this I’d first want to know of a well established plan to get students there easily. A quality shuttle program from campus to the arena and back constantly running before/during/after the game. Also to know that we have lots of branding leverage. I don’t love the idea much and would rather build on campus or MGV. I’m sure there are other initiatives out there to cultivate a better relationship to the city with.
  15. Sounds like the mayor wants it, but the University is foregoing it.
  16. I was thinking about this topic on my drive home today and I don’t disagree, with the important variable being met that we are INVESTING IN THE PROGRAM. That means, paying him and his staff well, NIL presence, facilities and generating attendance. So much of these hopes of keeping a good coach long term are OUR responsibility. Hard to blame Ross if he has a few good years and takes double or triple his salary elsewhere. The blame there again would not be on his morals, but our own short comings. It’s time for our alumni base, students, etc. to get serious about showing up and investing seriously into both basketball and football and we will have what we’ve longed for. In basketball’s case anyway, they’ve proven their worth, now it’s on us.
  17. So great to have the Mayor out and hope the relationship with the City continues to improve. Our stance on parades is so lame. Loved seeing the players interviewed. Great day!
  18. Felt/feel the same. It’s all getting so complicated with all this for us fans. The Drive would’ve never finished without him, but there’s still bitterness. I do feel TP is different bc he finished his original eligibility and won a very meaningful championship here so I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. One way or another, it sure is nice to have so much passion and hope and rabidness in our desire to compete around here. Not that the folks involved thus far in this thread aren’t always those things…but we are hungrier and expect more and that’s a beautiful thing.
  19. I don’t disagree with much of what you said other than that his success and being from here helps our brand. That sucks I know. Rico Bussey. Never recovered from the knee injury at Cal and busted in Pittsburgh.
