  1. A number of the offers are re-offers of originals that were made by the previous staff. It merely confirms that they agree with the original offer. Most of the re-offers wont be considered by the recruit. And remember, the total number of scholarships can total 85; not the 25 of the former recruiting period.
  2. Although it shows that Larry Moore committed to us, 247 hasn't picked up on the commitment yet. Could it be that he didn't go through the transfer portal? I assume that he will somehow sign something that says that he has committed to us. He should raise our standing a few notches when 247 finds out. Another good pickup that 247 doesn't know of is Devin Strange. He was rated a 3-star by Rivals but got maggies' drawers from 247. I doubt that they ever will grade him since he enrolled as a walk-on. Just remember...we did better than 247 will rank our recruiting class.
  3. I believe that the main reason that Denton ISD's best players do not stay in Denton is that they are looking for a better conference (than CUSA) and much more of a winning record. It's possible that the move to the AAC will cause a few more to stay here; especially if it is accompanied with a winning record. Our CUSA years winning record was roughly .500 but if we can raise our winning percentage to around .700 or better then I believe we'll see more of the better players staying home.
  4. The defensive lineman that entered the transfer portal was Dayton LeBlanc. He played mostly, if not totally, in a four man front. If we are going to run three man fronts it makes sense that he would leave.
  5. He hasn't publicly committed to anyone yet so I hope that the new staff will make a visit to him before signing day. Send your best recruiter. I think of this team and staff as more of a family than when he visited. We need you, Caimon!
  6. Mayes is now the running back coach at Tulsa
  7. I found some additional information on Chandler Rogers. I couldn't find the reference to copy it to this location but I did copy the page: PERSONAL: Born in Dallas, Texas...earned academic all-district honors for three years in high school...named to the Dean's List ATHLETICS: Earned first-team all-district honors as a quarterback at Mansfield Lake Ridge High School...named the district's MVP...was a Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Year nominee...Inducted into the NFF Gridiron Club of Dallas Chapter... passed for 2,233 yards, rushed for 1,176 yards and scored 34 total touchdowns en route to leading Mansfield Lake Ridge to an appearance in the third round of the state playoffs...was ranked as the No. 45 dual-threat quarterback in the country and No. 265 overall prospect in the state, per 247 Sports Composite...was a three-star prospect by 24/7 and a two-star by Rivals...also ran track in high school...transferred from the University of Southern Mississippi.+
  8. Well I guess that I've gotten so old and slow that I think that nearly every football player moves at the speed of light. After looking at his video I thought that this young man has an exceptional motor. He keeps moving until he makes contact. If he is slow off of the ball, I'll take a whole team of his kind. Welcome! Devin. Personally, I liked your video and think that you have all- conference potential.
  9. It could well be that the dust hasn't settled on how many scholarships are available. If he's that good, I predict that the staff will find a scholarship. Whatever color shirt it is that gives him a scholarship this year but is not counted until next year. I guess that they still have that.
  10. Well, he did pretty well getting Apogee Stadium built. RV didn't have the luxury of a president and BOR that was loose with the purse toward athletics.
  11. I don't understand so many offensive linemen but we did lose a center so this offer makes sense.
  12. I believe that it's highly doubtful that we could land him. Both his father and his mother are TCU graduates.
  13. Clay Jennings recruited him and will be his position coach. Clay is an experienced coach and I trust his judgment.
  14. It's not where you start it's where you finish!
  15. I could be wrong on this but I originally thought that the black was for shading only. In other words green numbers could be framed in black as could white numbers. But, remembering Dickey's farewell appearance in those cheap black jerseys, I want to throw up when we dress in black. Even when we wear green pants with black jerseys they do the names in green and I can hardly read any names with good binoculars. I like to know the name of the player who made a good tackle or got a block that sprung a back for a good gain. In the old days, every player had a different number. Of course that was plenty when you played both ways. Now so many numbers are duplicated that it's nearly impossible to remember the number of each player on offense and defense. I might bend a little if black piping were used as a highlight only but otherwise stick to GREEN and WHITE.
  16. Well, Wisconsin got both Mordecai and Locke. At least I'm happier with Chandler Rogers. Having a 68% completion rate at ULM is very impressive given that they likely have average receivers and offensive line. And, they were overmatched in most games. I still have hope that Grant Gunnels fully recovers from his leg injury and we have a true competition for the starting slot.
  17. ABSOLUTELY!! He was rated the third best safety in the FCS. I believe that he may have two years eligibility left; just enough time for him to finish his MBA in Finance here. He should have been rated higher out of high school. He had 120 tackles his senior year; that should have been enough to get a 3-star rating. We definitely need another outstanding safety.
  18. I also like the pre-game in that they can set the spirit that may last through the game. If they would play 'Let's Give A Cheer' amidst fireworks and smoke when the team enters it will grab everyone's attention positively. I also hope that they will keep the Marching Band at its current size. It makes the game seem more like a spectacle.
  19. I don't think that he can possibly know how long the plan will take. He has chosen the staff that he believes can deliver. He thinks that we will be competitive our first year. I'm sure that he understands that he will have to interface with Denton/Denton County and the UNT Faculty and Student Body to fill the stadium. That may or may not come in the first year but I definitely believe there will be improvement. He sold us pretty quickly so let's hope that some of that will carryover to the people of Denton, Lewisville, Flour Mound, etc. I don't know exactly what his plan is and how much will have to be done by the AD but I think that we'll be in full gear by the third year.
  20. No, I don't believe that he can renege on a signed letter of intent. I thought that he was committed but hadn't signed anything. It might be possible due to the coach that recruited him no longer coaches there. However, if the NLI was signed in December it's likely that he sticks by his word.
  21. We don't. Maybe whoever they are might care. But our goal is to make our team better. Let the coaches worry about opponents. Be the best you can be!
  22. I'm just finding that hard to believe. He was committed to us before the Jackson State offer. But he was offered by Jackson State in September of last year when Prime Time was still the coach at Jackson State. I believe that now, unless he gets an offer from Colorado, he will rethink his commitment. Maybe Chris Gilbert can persuade him otherwise.
  23. The NIL sucks! If they are going to continue to do it there should be a individual limit for all. Furthermore, it should be relatively small...say $10,000/$15,000 for each. Those that make the most money can outbid almost any G5 (except maybe SMU). Come on NCAA. Let's control Pandora's box.
