  1. Daniel Monroe Campagna, 56, of Wichita Falls, TX, passed away on July 26, 2022 after a courageous four year battle with colon cancer. Dan's Celebration Of Life will take place on Tuesday, August 2nd at 2:00 pm at the downtown campus of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, TX with Dr. Bob McCartney officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers are Dominic Campagna II, David Campagna, Shawn Blacklock, Joe D. Bloodworth, Brad Coors, Perry Curry, Tim McCord, Dr. Gary Ozier, Pat Powers, and Tom Stephens. Dan "The Big Nasty" Campagna was born on November 6, 1965 to Dominic and Mary Louise (Barnes) Campagna in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from S.H. Rider High School in Wichita Falls, TX in 1984, he went on to attend Henderson County Junior College before transferring to the University of Alabama and then to the University of North Texas before an injured knee ended his football dreams. Dan was an entrepreneur with a magnetic personality. In 1994, he and his brother David started Construction Bolt & Fasteners where they worked side by side for the last 28 years. In 2000, Dan, again with his brother, followed a lifelong dream of opening a restaurant, Texas Moon.
  2. It’s easy to say I have a NIL Yippee aren’t I great! Just setting one up is easy. I would much rather have an NIL with BIG TIME donors committing big dollars up front. Guys like McNatt make this a much more powerful NIL collective. Also sounds like Wren and the AD are supportive as well. Much better to take time to get some legs under the organization. RV running it is icing on the cake.
  3. Wow this is HUGE news! Great to have RV back in the fold running this.
  4. The 2015 Alabama Crimson Tide football staff is one that people look back on and wonder how so many elite coaches could have been on a single team. That season, Nick Saban's staff included six current Power 5 head coaches in offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin (now at Ole Miss), defensive coordinator Kirby Smart (Georgia), position coaches Mel Tucker (Michigan State), Mario Cristobal (Miami) and Billy Napier (Florida) and graduate assistant Dan Lanning (Oregon). "Everybody messes with me about that a little bit," current Houston associate head coach and defensive coordinator Doug Belk said. "Like, 'How they leaving you off the list?'" Belk was one of three graduate assistants on that Alabama staff. He is now one of the biggest rising stars in college football's coaching landscape. He joined Houston in 2019 as co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach after leaving West Virginia along with head coach Dana Holgorsen. Belk was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2021, leading a unit that was sixth in the country in total defense (302.2 yards), tied for 13th in turnovers forced (23) and 19th in points allowed per game (20.4). The success that Belk, 34, has had since leaving Alabama has made him a hot commodity in coaching circles, including with Saban himself, who has attempted to bring Belk back to Tuscaloosa. link: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34298172/why-houston-defensive-coordinator-doug-belk-college-football-next-hot-head-coaching-candidate?fs=e&s=cl
  5. Who is Leota and how is he already starting?
  6. I think your hypothesis was correct 15-20 years ago but since RV got here we have done a much better job athletically indoctrinating the freshman students as well as the transfers. The problem now is results and in particular consistent winning. A good example would be the great crowd we had for that La Tech game a few years back, you know the one where the Mean Joe Greene statue was unveiled? That was a fantastic crowd and yet we somehow managed to put a stain on an otherwise great day by squandering a lead in the closing seconds of the game.
  7. You know you may be onto something. When Insaw that imposing picture of Oscar earlier it made me feel better knowing he would be back in the fold.
  8. True but they also have more money to fund these campaigns.
  9. Hasn’t that already been done with Oregon and Nike/ Philly Scott?
  10. It sounds like it to me that it makes it easier to fire civil servants which by design are supposed to be apolitical.
  11. In the upcoming season, the SP+ and returning production suggest we could see a new top team in the C-USA. UTSA nearly went undefeated on their way to becoming the 2021 C-USA champions. Can they repeat that effort in 2022? SP+ rankings The defending champ UTSA Roadrunners have an SP+ overall ranking of 67 heading into the season. While that is impressive, it is actually UAB with the best overall mark for the conference. Head coach Bill Clark is retiring and Bryant Vincent is being promoted to interim head coach, and the Blazers are expected to be carried by their defense. Western Kentucky is the second-best team in the conference ranked 62nd overall with an offensive SP+ ranked 30th. Quarterback Bailey Zappe is gone for the Hilltoppers, but expectations are high for grad transfer Jarret Doege and redshirt freshman Chance McDonald. read more: https://dknation.draftkings.com/platform/amp/2022/7/22/23199163/2022-conference-usa-football-advanced-stats-returning-players-recruiting-rankings-schedule-strength

  13. I don’t get why everyone gets so freaked out about us talking about SMU. They are our rival and have been for decades. We play them every single year and the outcome of the game more often then not can determine the direction of our season since we usually play them early. And now we are in the same damn conference so we will play them in all sports every year and in some twice or more a year. So it seems quite logical that we would talk about SMU from time to time on here and interact with their posters.
  14. I don’t think they are allowed to do that for non school sponsored sports.
  15. I mean it’s going to be Aune most likely. So it’s not going to be great but he’s not terrible either. He had a great finish last season.
