  1. Harry, I have seen specials (probably on the history channel or discovery channel) about past disasters, which lead to discussions on the shows about possible future disasters. One of the scenarios that was discussed was a catagory 5 hurricane hitting NO, and what it would mean to the city as things stood right then. As I recall, the people on the shows were saying that the scenarios that were being discussed were not an "If", but a "WHEN". They have known for some time that they have been dodging the bullett, and they have known for some time about what they have needed to do to shore up their defenses. Looks like "WHEN" has finally arrived. I feel bad for those poor people down there. I hope that the looters are going to be dealt with harshly. I also hope that anyone caught gouging those poor Lousiana people are dealt with just as harshly.
  2. I was told the same thing. I was also told over a week ago that the LSU ticket that I had purchased would be in the mail "in a couple of days". Nothing so far.
  3. If this thing gets any stronger, they may have to create a new catagory.
  4. Here is the link to get updated information. http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?...0&ATCLID=181269 here is the weather channel site. http://www.weather.com/newscenter/tropical...m=wxcenter_news 175 mph winds!?
  5. From North Fort Worth, it is 483 miles to BR. Mapquest estimates that the drive would take 7hrs 45min from that point. *Crip* TeamKatt, can you keep us up to date about the conditions in BR as regards "Katrina". I heard it mentioned on the Weather Channel that the electricity will likely go out in a broad area around NO, and in most cases won't be back on for TWO WEEKS!
  6. Decatur opened their season with a 31-21 win over Burkburnett, at Burkburnett. Naturally, the Star-Telegram made no mention of the game, because until last season (they couldn't ignore a recording-setting QB), the Star-Telegram pretended that Decatur never exsisted. This has been going on since I was in HS, so when the ST pretends that North Texas doesn't exsist.....I'm pretty much used to it. For anyone interested, here is the write-up in the Wise county paper. http://www.wcmessenger.com/newsbindata/fba...utonBurkb.shtml
  7. There must be something in the water down there.
  8. bump For those going to the game, this is the information about North Texas tailgating
  9. Continuing my long standing tradition of pulling for the underdog, SilverEagle chooses in the ninth round walk-on O-lineman Gary Elmore, 6'2" X 290 lbs. The official web-site still lists him as being #54, but he is now wearing #71. Gary is a former Boswell Pioneer (as was "Son-of-Silver"), as well as a former walk-on at Michigan State. GOOD LUCK GARY!
  10. Interlocking "NT"? Hmmmm, you must have a plan in place to get rid of LJ. Because THAT'S the only way an interlocking "NT" will ever appear on the field.
  11. How about an Eagle's head mainly showing the eyes and part of the beak with the caption..... CAT MEAT! MMMMMM.. TASTES LIKE CHICKEN!
  12. To me, the athletic department should only have to "market" the football team to the alumni and the general public. The students shouldn't need to be marketed to. However, IMHO the organization to do that SHOULD be the TALONS. The Talons should have several loud and visable "spontaneous" events during the week of all home games. They really should have them during the week of every game, but for now I would settle for home games.
  13. I don't think that I would want to get that "close" to him.
  14. “Our direction is not so clear cut that we can seek a passive leader,” he said. I call BS on that! The only "Leader" that Jackson wants around is him.
  15. mine is on it's way. This is going to be one of those "go-just-to-say-you've-been" football trips. If there are ANY LSU fans that are as friendly, fun, and "full-of-it" like the Lafayette fans, then this could turn out to be a pretty good trip. Hopefully the group I'll be with will be able to avoid the "Deliverance Cajuns" that everyone is talking about.
  16. Despite the heat, this was a LOT of fun! I look forward to the tailgating this fall! BTW, the brisket was (as usual) absolutely wonderful! I guaranteed the brisket to everyone who came through the line, and not ONE person came back and asked for their money back. ......
  17. Great job on the photos Queen! We appreciate all of your help! BTW you did a great job of capturing my best side (photo #8). That was a good shot of "Baby Arm" as well.
  18. OR, you could call the number that was provided and ask. Carolyn is very nice.
  19. Just in case you can't hear the crickets chirping in the background due to our indifference to your post............chirp, chirp, chirp.......
  20. Hmmmm, I seem to recall predicting (to a couple of knowledgable GMG guys) that a certain lanky QB, despite his brief good showing in a couple of series on Sunday, would eventually crash and burn. NOT inviting Scott Wissell back to fall practice is turning into a bigger and bigger mistake.
  21. A Juco QB would have to deal with the same learning curve that a freshman has to deal with. I'll lean toward a QB with Texas HS playoff experience over a JUCO from ....wherever. If we were going to go JUCO, we should have brought one in during the spring practice.
