  1. Well, aside from the freshman coming in, Harmon is the only TE that we know is definitely healthy. Davidson was banged up a good bit of last year, and Chaney got hurt early in spring practice. Does anyone know how Chaney is doing?
  2. Jack, Gary Elmore has played center, both in HS and at MS. I don't know why they didn't give him any time there in the spring, but he has played that position.
  3. I looked it up on a Vietnam veteran's slang website. KLICK, K: short for kilometer (.62 miles).
  4. Well, I'm not saying that I agree with you. But the last game of the season featured James Mitchell, and he got 166yrds.......in less than ideal conditions.
  5. Deep, a friend of mine was in artillery, but he was in the Marines. From that era they used the term "clicks" as a unit of measuring distance. But I forgot how much distance it represented. I believe that the term came from the artillery. Can you confirm this? BTW, while I was at NT I did not apply for a deferrment. I was never even called for a physical.
  6. ...and yet, there was a walk-on named Scott Wissel who was working his ass off making excellent decisions, putting the ball where it needed to be, and often showing a very good touch with his throws. He also played with confidence, didn't get rattled and just generally turned the heads of just about every fan who watched spring practice. Yet, he wasn't invited back this fall. So what was the problem with him? He was generously listed as 5'11" on the program. I get real tired of people salavating over a players size....especially at QB. As Dandy Don used to say "potential just means you ain't done it yet". Ieans has been hanging around for two years and people have been looking at his "potential"...which has yet to realized. Meanwhile, a hard working walk-on was (IMHO) "getting it done" and not being invited back. And as to Ieans "potential" as a "possession receiver". If he HAD ANY ability as a receiver, they would have put him out there long ago.
  7. Hmmmm, could JQ really be Bill Brasky's illegitimate son?
  8. I think that it's interesting about the last pro-athletics President, Jitter Nolan. If I'm not mistaken, he's the one who hired Hayden Fry. I'm very proud to say that Jitter Nolan's name appears on my diploma. Jitter Nolan was hired by North Texas because of his money raising abilities. The "old nesters" didn't like him because he didn't own an advanced degree. But I suspect that the real reason that they didn't like him was because he actually had some PERSONALITY, and he was probably gaining too much influence to suit them. I'm seeing a very distressing trend here. I don't like anything that has gone on since Lee Jackson has taken over as Chancelor (aka Chancellor of the University of North Texas....remove all the lower case letters). I agree with Huff, that comment in the paper is absolutely the last straw. Jackson has to go!
  9. The sad thing about that story is that some men would think it was serious.
  10. I totally agree that it's better than the copper star, or the daffy eagle for that matter. However, I just think that it looks pretty bad when we spend that kind of money just to rip-off the USPS, and American Airlines.
  11. No one understands the issue of security better than me. However, I don't understand the reluctance by some people to at least try and help create a "real" college football experience at Fouts. Not only for us, but for the team and students as well. There is nothing more uplifting for a team than to see fans come in early and cheer them as they are leaving the field after warm-ups. There is also nothing more uplifting for the fans and students than having a stadium full of fans to greet and/or participate with the Band when they make their entrance for the pre-game activities. You only have to attend ONE Oklahoma football game to know what I'm talking about. OR, just about ANY High School game in the area for that matter.
  12. Ricardo played RB last year and I believe he was moved to safety in the spring. Ricardo is a talented athlete, and he has the potential to contribute at safety. Ricardo really make an impression on me when he worked real hard on his academics his freshman year and became eligible. To me, that speaks volumes about his character.
  13. Was Rahagene Cherry (6'2"X 310lbs) not invited back this fall. I thought he did pretty well in the spring. I believe he's originally from Plano and transferred from Abilene Christian. He seems like a player who could, for the most part, keep the middle clogged up.
  14. Just curious, but who are these Freshmen, and how did they get selected to be honored at Joe T's?
  15. First of all, this is a privacy issue. And the athletic dept (or the school for that matter) is not going to make any sort of comment.....nor should they. Now, even if it wasn't a privacy issue, has anyone been paying attention to how forthcoming the North Texas athletic department has been with information in the last five years? Recruiting comes to mind as my prime example.
  16. My question as well. I can't believe that they would waste "rep" time with him this fall.
  17. Does that mean we get to use their stadium?
  18. Well, speaking for myself, I'm living in the DFW area, and it's the middle of July. How do you suppose I can tell for sure.
  19. In 1994(?) the university changed the name back to Scrappy because the students felt that "Eppy" was a stupid name.
  20. I think that I've asked this before, but is James Battle in any way related to Ron Battle who played for North Texas in 77, 78 and 80? Ron Battle also played one year for the Rams in 1981.
