  1. "Feldt is the 11th ranked center in the country and is familiar with the area." Vito's Article
  2. Sad to hear this. Best of luck with your future endeavors, Nick.
  3. It was great. The stadium is truly a top notch facility. It was a fantastic feeling walking into the stadium tonight for the first time, but I cannot wait to walk into it for the first home game against Houston when the team is on the field!
  4. This is great stuff!! Excited to see who they pull in with this type of effort!
  5. I hope so! I loved the inside the iron episodes as well as the videos that followed the coaches around. Great stuff!
  6. Lifer - sorry to hear that my typo got your blood boiling.
  7. Okay, okay, okay...talent wise you're absolutely right. However, I'm going with the psychological play here. Our team has never played in a facility like this before. The vast majority of our fans have never taken ownership over a facility like this before. Our coaching staff (in most recent years) has never had this much experience and energy. The opening game is going to be electric from all aspects. I think that the overall energy and excitement may be enough to push UH off balance a bit, and, as they start to stumble, it's the same energy that gives our team the edge to pull ahead and seal the deal. I think from there we loose at Alabama, and then come home to another energetic stadium and fan base and pull off another great win against Indiana. We go to Tulsa, play it close, but ultimately can't finish it out. We get two conference wins against FAU and ULL. Start to feel comfortable in our own conference and then make some mistakes in the ULM game that they ultimately punish us for. Pissed off from a loss, we win against ASU. Troy is troy in the Sun Belt and we can't get past that this year but will next. Finish the season strong with two wins against WKU and Middle Tennessee. So, that's my reasoning behind my prediction. It may or may not make sense, but hey, no one really knows how this season will go down. There are a lot of variables and positive factors that we haven't had here in a long time. I'm still hoping for a 12-0 season, but think that a 5-7 win season is fairly realistic this year. Let me finish these two guys off first ->
  8. So how do you guys see all of this playing out within the next 6-10 years and how does it affect North Texas? Just curious to hear what you think!
  9. Great get! He seems like a smart and aggressive player! Looking forward to seeing him in green! Welcome aboard, Marcus!
  10. Someone mentioned that all incoming freshmen would be enrolled in summer school and attend workouts throughout the weeks prior to two-a-days. Is this true? If so, anyone have updates about incoming players? Not a super exciting topic...but I'm anxious for some UNT football so if anyone has any knowledge of what the players and coaches are up to leading to two-a-days let us know!
  11. One million was donated at a basketball game last year so it has to be more than that...which is AWESOME!
  12. Yeah, except for that whole QB position...but that's not really important. Just kidding. I think Thompson will do a fine job as long as he gets the protection he needs. In regards to the short passes, don't you think Powers and Dunbar will be used more effectively for short passes?
  13. FIU L Houston W Alabama L Indiana W Tulsa L Florida Atlantic W Louisiana-Lafayette W ULM L Arkansas State W Troy L Western Kentucky W Middle Tennessee W Overall 7-5 Why? Teaching sound fundamentals, setting high standards, experienced game planning, and effective preparation can make a significant impact. I believe we will play harder and smarter this year which will reduce turn overs and penalties. I also believe we'll be more aggressive this year and have a more energetic approach to the game (see transformation that occurred when Canales took over last year). We're in good hands now, and it will show.
  14. I'd REALLY like to beat Indiana. Not because they represent all that is wrong with college football but because my mom went there and my brother goes there now. I've been talking a lot of crap and really hope it doesn't explode in my face! And since I'll probably forward this thread to my brother, this is for him Go Mean Green! BEAT IU!
  15. Correction. "That's a pic from the great dickey era." As Vito suggests, the word "great" must be placed in front of Dickey's name any time you mention it. If you don't, you clearly don't understand the meaning of greatness. See the Mean Green Blog for definitions and examples.
  16. Wait...you can't be serious. The man is being honest. He's not making these criticisms to make a scapegoat for himself later down the road. They're real issues that need to be addressed and fixed! Turning this program around IS going to be challenging. If we hired a coach who was saying it is going to be a breeze I would be EXTREMELY concerned because that coach probably doesn't know what he's dealing with and what he's up against. I agree with the 5 wins. That would be great progress. But McCarney isn't making these statements as an escape door for the end of the season.
  17. If UT goes independent within the next couple of years (as rumors have been suggesting). Will the Big 12 Conference want to fill the hole with another large Texas school? Furthermore, if UNT has started to turn the winning streak around by that time, has a nice stadium with plans for expansion, a 35,000+ student population, great location, large alumni base, academic qualifications, a reputable basketball team, and an all around successful "non-revenue" sports program, would the Big 12 Conference think UNT is the school to fill the void? Let the discussion begin.
  18. "When I first got here I didn't know if I was at a funeral parlor or coaching a bunch of mannequins," McCarney said. "It was the quietest bunch. I had just left one of the most boisterous, vocal teams in the country at Florida. It was shocking to me." Interesting insight. I'm glad McCarney makes public criticisms about the programs in this manner. It's not detrimental or degrading, it's just what he sees and what he thinks needs to be fixed. I believe it shows that he's not afraid to make corrections. If there is a problem, he'll take note of it, keep the fan base engaged if they need to know about it, and then figure out a way to fix it. I'm excited to where his corrections will take this program! GMG!
  19. Good to hear! Congrats Nathan!
  20. Are those actually the new helmets? I could see the AD putting that one in the commercial and then coming out with the real "new" one on game day with the uniforms.
